Mika: ‘Cut The Crap’ On Palin Prez-Run Fan Dance

Mika Brzezinski wants to “cut the crap” when it comes to building speculation as to whether Sarah Palin will run for president in 2012.  According to Mika, Palin’s candidacy is a done deal, and the press is letting itself be sucked into a phony build-up. Mika is so sure that Sarah is running that on today’s Morning Joe she was willing to wager a dubious Jonathan Capehart $1,000.  Brzezinski’s comments came in response to Politico’s report , highlighted by Mike Allen, that Palin has raised significant money and built a nascent campaign staff. Speaking of fan dances, let’s take a walk down memory lane with this 2004 statement from a certain junior senator from Illinois: I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years, and my entire focus is making sure that I’m the best possible senator on behalf of the people of Illinois . . . I am not running for president in 2008. The only reason I’m being definitive is because until I’m definitive you will keep asking me this question, but it’s a silly question. — Sen. Barack Obama, 2004 If only he’d stuck to his word . . .

Michael Steele: Mentally Deficient

Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele has segregated himself from any and all party’s once again. Michale Steele seems to have either forgotten that there was a President before Obama, or that Bush was never President. Steele was caught on video spewing republicanism’s, saying that Afghanistan is “a war of Obama’s choosing”; I didn’t know Obama had the power to send troops while being on the Illinois senate. Steele is also quoted saying “If he’s such a student of history,” Steele said, referring to President Obama, “has he not understood that, you know, that’s the one thing you don’t do, is engage in a land war in Afghanistan? Everyone who has tried, over 1,000 years of history, has failed.” I again am astonished that this man is ignoring the fact that, Republican former President George W. Bush invaded Afghanistan in 2001 after September 11( I had to explain this just in-case there are more people who forget the past like Steele). Now the Democrats are jumping all over his words as they should, but shockingly even very prominent conservatives are demanding his immediate resignation. William Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, called Steele’s remarks “an affront, both to the honor of the Republican Party and to the commitment of the soldiers fighting to accomplish the mission they’ve been asked to take on by our elected leaders.” Fellow conservative Erick Erickson had this to say, Steele had “lost all moral authority to lead the GOP.” Steele is now in full damage control, coming out re-explaining his statements. If you have to re-explain your political standings and true beliefs then your just trying to save face. A party spokesman said that Steele’s comments were in the context of speaking to future candidates and questions on the campaign trail. Steele however separated himself even further from his comments by saying this, Steele called winning the war in Afghanistan “a difficult task,” but “a necessary one.” While also backing it up with this statement, “The stakes are too high for us to accept anything but success in Afghanistan.” The Director of the RNC has been saying that Steele’s job is intact and that Democrats are misinterpreting his statements. This is just yet another example of the Republican foot in mouth that seems to be running rampant lately. While most Republicans surly believe what Steele has said, they cannot get elected by saying what they truly believe. Of course Republicans are going to back away from him, because they want to get elected off of the less conservative ideals they preach, and once in office force the more extreme views on the public. Most in Media Ignore Blago Characterizing Obama: ‘More Tony’d Up Than I Am’

Maybe it’s the sheer joy of celebrating recovery summer along with The Anointed One and Plugs Biden.  Perhaps they’re just Blagoed out. Whatever the reason, most of the mainstream media failed to report something intriguing said by the usually most quotable former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.  From an FBI tape recorded last November and appearing on Fox Chicago News’s Web site , Blagojevich spoke of president-elect Barack Obama: BLAGOJEVICH I thin-, you know, it’s really, I get that I’m a big boy and I can handle that, but it’s really f***ing galling, this guy is more Tony’d up than I am. And it’s almost like they f***ing conspi-, made a concerted effort and they got the Chicago media to f***ing make me wear Rezko more. To f***ing dilute it from him. Blago’s disillusionment with Obama stemmed from a rebuff conveyed by a Service Employees International Union (SEIU) official used by the president-elect to let the Gov know of Obama’s interest in Valerie Jarrett filling his Senate seat. Blago makes for good copy and the mainstream media have rarely missed a chance to quote him.  Yet in this instance, they took a powder.  It’s not as though they’re unaware of the Obama-Rezko connection. In 2006, Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times he’d known Tony Rezko for years, having lunch with him probably once or twice a year. When Obama decided to buy a $1.65 million mansion in Chicago, he approached Rezko who “developed an interest” and purchased adjoining land. The closing on the properties took place the same day. The Obamas paid $300,000 less than the asking price; the Rezkos paid the full price. A few months later, Obama, wanting to increase the size of his backyard, bought a strip of Rezko’s property for $104,500. As the Sun-Times story noted: “The transaction occurred at a time when it was widely known Tony Rezko was under investigation by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and as other Illinois politicians befriended by Rezko distanced themselves from him.” Possibly Obama was indeed “more Tony’d up” than Blagojevich.  Yet almost no news outlets found Blagojevich’s description, made when he was unaware of being recorded, newsworthy.  Just a coincidence no doubt.

Puerto Rican Man Almost Deported To Mexico:

This is why Arizona SB 1070 will backfire: Immigration authorities in Berwyn, Illinois arrested Puerto Rican Eduardo Caraballo in a stolen car case, but when his mother posted his bail, he was detained because authorities didn’t believe he was a legal citizen. His mother brought his birth certificate, but Eduardo was unable to answer some questions about the island because he’s lived all his life on the mainland. Eduardo was detained for more three days and threatened with deportation–to Mexico. I don't have any sympathy for car thieves if the man is guilty of what officials are potentially charging him of, but I don't want to see anyone who is a legal citizen deported to a country they were never a citizen of either. Three days to figure out this man was a United States citizen and that he should be tried in a U.S. criminal court if charges are pressed and not deported even after they got his birth certificate? As Laffy said, “From the Department of Bound to Happen”. I guess even if you show your papers that isn't good enough in some parts of Illinois now. Thanks Arizona. Looks like your xenophobia is spreading. added by: Stoneyroad
