Irina Shayk: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Cover Girl!

Irina Shayk has risen to the top of the modeling profession. The 25-year old Russian is this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition cover girl, an honor she first discovered herself yesterday at a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman. “There were 10 models there to do the Top 10 List, and nobody knows until the last minute who the cover will be,” Shayk said. “And then I saw it, and I couldn’t believe it.” This marks Shayk’s first appearance on the cover of the iconic issue. The girlfriend of Cristiano Ronaldo, she starred in Kanye West’s “Power” music video last year and follows in the gorgeous footsteps of Brooklyn Decker, who cover this same SI edition in 2010.

James Cameron Sinks Universal’s Battleship

It seems James Cameron is saving his judge-y haymakers for bigger fish than just Piranha 3D . The King of the World told a German website that no film better embodies Hollywood’s creative bankruptcy than Universal’s two ka-billion dollar adaptation of Battleship . “We have a story crisis. Now they want to make the Battleship game into a film,” said Cameron to Spiegel . “This is pure desperation.” And how! Just wait until he finds out it co-stars Rihanna and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

Christy Martin is a boxing legend, the first female in her sport to cover Sports Illustrated . But now this brawler is truly in for the fight of her life… … against both death and her husband. Martin, who once appeared on the undercard of a Mike Tyson match, is recovering in a Florida hospital after being shot and stabbed yesterday. While details are still coming in, TMZ reports the boxer stumbled out of her home after the incident, flagged down a car and was taken to get care by a passing motorist. Despite her injuries, Martin told authorities the man behind the attack was her 66-year-old husband and trainer, James Martin. Police are now on the hunt for the man who made the mistake of thinking Christy Martin could be knocked out so easily.
