Some unexpected, exciting news for Jersey Shore fans today! When it was first reported that Jenni Farley had filed for divorce from Roger Mathews , it looked as though the couple was dunzo for good. Fans rooted for Roger as he pleaded with Jenni to take him back in heartfelt video messages and candid social media posts. Roger even celebrated his anniversary with Jenni , despite the fact that he and Jenni were estranged at the time. Yes, Mathews really seemed to be fighting a losing battle. And it seemed extremely unlikely that the famously hard-hearted JWoww would ever change her mind. Yesterday, however, the Jersey Shore star seemed to confirm that she and Roger are at least trying to “make it work.” “We’re here as a family today,” Mathews told Us Weekly at a recent family-themed event sponsored by DreamWorks. “We’re working on things yeah, absolutely. We spent eight years together so … I feel like there’s nothing that’s not fixable in our situation.” With her two kids in tow, Jenni was asked if she and Roger would be spending the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday together; “Always as a family,” Farley responded. Now, that’s a vague response that could mean many things (Jenni and Roger might just be maintaining the “family:” facade for the sake of their children), but at least Mathews seems optimistic. As for Roger’s recent comments that Jenni finds him “repulsive,” Mathews says the remark was meant in jest: “We saw that on the way up here. I hesitate to make a comment because it seems like everything is taken out of context but I’m a real comedian,” he told Us. “So don’t take anything I say serious. I don’t get upset, it comes with the territory. I know what I signed up for but I just think we live in a world with fake news where people put out stuff that’s not true to get listeners to tune in or read or whatever,” he added. “We know what’s going on in our own house and that’s all that matters. If the world wants to judge, the world can judge.” We wish Roger and Jenni all the best going forward. Just weeks after ending her engagement to Pete Davidson, Ariana Grande dropped a new single , “Thank U, Next.” The powerful anthem, a tribute to her exes, is smashing music records. Its lyrics have also inspired November’s hottest meme. Billboard Woman of the Year Ariana Grande keeps setting new records only to surpass them. In recent days, she’s been doing it with the same song, as she shared on Instagram. “Thank u, next has surpassed 100 MILLION streams on spotify in only 11 days,” reads a graphic shared on social media. The graphic puts that in perspective: “it is the fastest song in HISTORY to reach this milestone.” Ariana shared the image with a very grateful black heart emoji in the captions. Keep in mind that that’s only her Spotify success. It doesn’t include people listening on YouTube — or pirating it. Her record-smashing feat doesn’t include people using other streaming services. It also doesn’t include those of us who eschew streaming music and instead immediately purchased it from iTunes or Amazon. Part of the appeal is that it’s a beautiful song. The song’s real meaning also contributed to its success. “Thank U, Next” is an anthem to Ariana’s exes — to three, in particular. Ariana had an 8-month relationship with Big Sean from 2014 to 2015. “Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match,” Ariana sings. Starting in the summer of 2015, Ariana dated backup dancer Ricky Alvarez for about a year. “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh,” Ariana sings. Famously, Ariana got engaged to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson, and broke things off in October. “Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful,” Ariana’s lyrics affirm. On a sadder note, she dated Mac Miller for two years starting in 2016. He died just a few months ago. “Wish I could say, ‘Thank you’ to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel,” Ariana sings bittersweetly. “Thank U, Next” appeals to people as a song and as an athem. Some can relate in their own lives — they really appreciate their past loves and past relationships. Others are just Ariana Grande fans and love to hear how at peace she is with her romantic past. But it’s more than just a song, folks. It’s a meme. For ages now, social media has been filled with “one taught me love, one taught me patience, one taught me pain” posts. These posts, quoting lyrics from Ariana’s song, can do everything from critique three films or three characters or three condiments. Of course, Ariana’s release of this song such a short time after ending her relationship with Pete Davidson has fueled conspiracy theorists. There are people in the world who believes that all celebrity activities, from relationships to their art to overdoses and deaths, are a scripted facade. These are the same people who use words like “illuminati” and “Deep State” with total sincerity. So they think that for some unknowable reason, Ariana and Pete were “ordered” by, like, Beyonce or George Soros to get engaged, then split. According to this admittedly hilarious theory, Ariana had this song prepared and mixed for whenever they were ordered to break up. Why? Maybe, like, mind-control embedded in the song. It did release right before election day! Ariana being a talented and passionate musician with the resources to pull together a song quickly is apparently too simple of an explanation. There is a glaring omission from Ariana’s song — her ex Graham Phillips. They performed together on Broadway along with current Dynasty star Elizabeth Gillies. You might know Graham from The Good Wife or from his more recent appearance on Riverdale as a seriously awful dude. Our guess is that the fact that they dated in 2011, when Ariana was mostly just known as a Nickelodeon star, is a factor. Also, she probably just views Graham as a friend whom she once dated. There’s a difference between that and an “ex.” In case you were wondering if there was bad blood, we looked into it and found no evidence of hard feelings. In fact, they staged a mini-reunion this past summer with another former castmate. Ariana was probably right to narrow her scope of exes to a handful. Last week, Kanye West was forced to flee as shots were fired on set . Also, everywhere near his primary residence is on fire. Now, he’s facing accuastions from Lorde that he totally ripped off her stage designs for his shows. And she has the photo comparisons to back up her claim. Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s “Kids See Ghosts” Tour has attracted the wrong kind of attention. Lorde, the absolute legend who won a Grammy before graduating high school, took to her Instagram Stories. There, she shared a series of images noting what she found to be a suspicious similarity between her tour’s stage design and Kanye’s. The suspended box design, creating a second floor to the stage without taking up any stage space, is pretty difficult to miss. Did Kanye really steal the work? Lorde suggests so with a few words. “I’m proud of the work I do,” Lorde wrote in reflection. “And it’s flattering when other artists feel inspired by it,” she continued. Lorde clarified about that flattered feeling: “to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves.” “But don’t steal,” she insists. “Not from women or anyone else,” Lorde writes. “Not in 2018 or ever.” Es Devlin is a designer who has worked closely with Lorde. “It’s hard to come up with stuff that feels new,” Lorde shared in 2017. “And with the tank it felt weird and interesting and quite specific to me,” Lorde shared. She spoke of her collaboration with Devlin: “The two of us just built it from the ground up, bouncing ideas back and forth.” Devlin has also very notably worked with Kanye for many, many years. In an apparent response to Lorde’s post, Devlin made a post on Instagram showing a similar “box” in the opera, Carmen , by Georges Bizet. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that someone has noticed that Kanye’s stage design seems similar to another. Last time, it was this image (above) of hanging lights. Kim Kardashian herself took aim at Saint Laurent, suggesting that Kanye’s set design had been ripped off. (One could argue that no one gets to lay claim to the concept of hanging lights, but it really doesn’t matter) That makes defending Kanye against Lorde a little complicated. That is, assuming that Ye has any defenders left who aren’t in his bed or on his payroll. Some could cynically suggest that Lorde is being opportunistic. Lorde is famously friends with Taylor Swift. Even more famously, Taylor and Kanye have a serious beef. In 2016, Kim orchestrated Taylor’s temporary downfall. Now, however, Taylor is back. Meanwhile, Kanye chose 2018 as the year to purge himself of any lingering goodwill that the public may have for him. Is Lorde just kicking Kanye while he’s down by attacking his art? So, did Lorde jump the gun by indirectly accusing Kanye of ripping off her work? Did Kanye and Lorde just come up with similar ideas? (Great trains run along the same tracks, if Kanye is still considered to be “great”) Or did Es Devlin rip off a design from an opera and then pass it off to both artists? We would suggest that it’s more likely (and also kinder) to suggest that no one is stealing from anyone. Stages only have so many possible designs, folks. That said, we can understand why Lorde might be sensitive on the topic. There is a widespread phenomenon, from business meetings to the art world, of men duplicating a woman’s ideas and receiving credit for it. Despite some fan speculation, viewers won’t see Ashley Jacobs return to Southern Charm next season. Ashley confirmed that on social media, claiming that it was her choice. Patricia Altschul isn’t letting that claim stand unchallenged, and mocked Ashley’s post. Did she go too far? “After a lot of prayerful consideration,” Ashley announced on Instagram. “I have decided not to return to Southern Charm next season.” There was more to her announcement, and we’ll get to that. But right now, let’s look at what one of the reigning Southern Charm stars has to say. The absolute legend that is Patricia Altschul saw Ashley’s announcement and decided to parody it with an announcement of her own. “After prayerful consideration,” Patricia tweeted. “I’ve decided to decline the Nobel Peace Prize and the swimsuit cover of Sports Illustrated. ” Patricia Altschul is a delight. It is clear by the implication of her tweet that, as far as she is concerned, Ashley was never considered for an invitation to return to the show. That’s not so surprising — Ashley was never a real cast member, and was only paid for her appearance at the reunion special. She was Thomas Ravenel’s girlfriend, and Thomas is never returning to Bravo. ( Thomas will, in fact, stand trial for sexual assault based upon the chilling allegations made by his children’s former nanny) Patricia received a lot of cheering after her shady tweet. Others, however, felt that she was taking things too hard. “Quit being a bully,” demanded one Twitter denizen. “Move on.” “You’re too old to continue these shenanigans,” the tweeter told Patricia. (Poking at Patricia Altschul’s age isn’t just rude — it also makes your words about bullying sound a little hollow) Patricia dismissed that particular tweet as sour grapes — possibly from Ashley herself under a fake social media account. Despite the implication that Ashley never had the option of returning to Southern Charm, her Instagram post explained her reasoning. “I’ve been blessed with an amazing career, family, & friends,” she wrote. “And,” Ashley continued. “I don’t want to put those things in jeopardy for a reality tv show.” “Honestly,” she shared. “I considered filming again because I desperately want to tell my side of the story.” “But after experiencing how unfair the editing process can be,” she explained. “I don’t think I’ll ever have a fair shot.” “I appreciate you all following me throughout this journey,” Ashley concluded. We’re glad that Ashley seems to have found some peace. Given the damage to her image as well as the visibly detrimental effects that stardom exacted upon her health, maybe it’s best that Ashley not return. (Not everyone should be a reality star, and that is perfectly okay — Ashley is a registered nurse) There are conflicting reports over who made this call. Ashley and some sources say that she was offered the chance to return to the show and try to work her way into the inner circle. Other sources — and Patricia Altschul — say that she was never considered, because she was never really a star. As you can see, the other ladies of Southern Charm are getting on just fine without Ashley. But we don’t think that it’s fair to call Patricia’s words “bullying.” It’s a shady tweet from a reality star to her former co-star. If it were racist or homophobic or misogynistic or something along those lines, maybe. Instead, it was one woman who appeared on a reality show mocking another. That goes with the territory. Also, it’s worth noting that Patricia was overtly friendly to Ashley when she first joined the show. It was Ashley’s behavior during her brief stint on Southern Charm that made Patricia feel repulsed. The magazine unveiled their prestigious cover on Tuesday and the 46-year-old British sex symbol won the crown. Elba was surprised, but grateful when he received the title. “I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really,’” he told People . “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.” Elba is People ‘s 33rd Sexiest Man Alive and the magazine’s first Black cover star since Denzel Washington in 1996, according to E! News . Blake Shelton infamously took the crown last year , while the whole Sexiest Man Alive title started with Mel Gibson in 1985. The pick for Idris was a long time coming, considering the years of lust fans had to endure scoping out the 6’3″ actor. However, Idris didn’t reach his peak sexy status overnight. In fact, he wasn’t always a ladies man in general. “I was very tall and skinny,” Idris said, describing his coming-of-age years in London. “And my name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, okay? I got picked on a little bit. But as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Credit: Dennis Van Tine/Future Image/WENN.com Alec Baldwin Arrested In New York Over Parking Dispute Parking in New York is some serious ish, and tensions around someone stealing your spot can make people do some crazy things–which just might have been the case for Alec Baldwin on Friday morning. Baldwin got arrested in Manhattan on Friday, according to reports from TMZ . According to the publication, witnesses say that the actor got into an argument with another man over a parking spot near 10th Street and 5th Avenue. TMZ’s law enforcement sources revealed that Alec had a friend holding the spot for him, but the other man swooped in before Alec returned, causing the dispute. That’s when Baldwin became irate and an argument ensued, which caused Baldwin to allegedly punch the other man in his jaw. The alleged victim is a 49-year-old male, and was taken to the hospital immediately after the fight . One witness says that Alec yelled “f**k off” during the dispute. Cops were called and Alec was subsequently arrested. Alec Baldwin lives in the area where the fight occured.
Bella Thorne is only 21, but at times, it seems that her career, such as it is, may have already peaked. Nominally, Bella is an actress, model, singer, etc., but like so many of her peers, Thorne’s most lucrative revenue stream is social media, particularly Instagram, where she’s amassed an astonishing 18.4 million followers. And like Kylie Jenner before her, Bella knows what makes the internet tick. We’re talking, of course, about nudity. It’s up there with funny cat videos and political outrage on the list of things people just can’t help but click. Unfortunately, it’s also a game of diminishing returns. The internet quickly loses interest in naked bodies it’s seen before and moves on to new nudity. Some young stars realize this and change tactics (hence Miley Cyrus’ rebranding as a sober, fully-clothed hippie), while others double-down and offer up more flesh than ever, which seems to be Bella’s strategy. Mackenzie Standifer offered a couple of treats for her social media followers on Halloween. First, the long-time reality star provided fans with their very first glimpse of Jagger, the baby to whom she gave birth in October . It was a fleeting glimpse, mind you. Some might even take issue with this being labeled a glimpse at all. But… hey, there is a baby in the photo below, alright?!? Standifer simply included a black heart emoji as a caption to this image of Jagger and his 10-year old brother, Bentley, both of whom were out and about on Halloween night. Mackenzie has often used this same unusual graphic across her Instagram, prompting some to believe it’s meant as jab at Edwards, who continues to get into trouble with the law. But Standifer insists the emoji has nothing to do with her often-jailed husband. “So here’s the deal about my use of [the black heart],” she wrote two weeks ago online. “There’s nothing behind it except for the fact that it’s different from your everyday [red heart]. Sorry to disappoint. Lol. There’s no hidden or cryptic messages behind it… “It’s just a heart shaped emoji that happens to be black instead of red.” Oh. Okay then. Standifer made a return to Teen Mom OG this past Monday evening in order to discuss Bentley possibly going to private school with his grandparents. She and Ryan had previously quit the MTV franchise , with Mackenzie claiming the network didn’t want to be associated with a recovering drug addict such as Edwards. Mackenzie, never one to mince words, then shared a photo of Teen Mom cameras being set up around her home, writing in the caption that the scene being shot was “Faaakkkkkeeeeeeeeeee” and strongly implying that everything one sees on the show is fake. Sorry, “Faaakkkkkeeeeeeeeeee.” But Ryan’s run-ins with the law have been very real. Because he was arrested (AGAIN) for drug possession earlier this year, Edwards actually missed Jagger’s birth. According to various sources, he has never met his second son. There’s been talk (below) of Standifer leaving Edwards at last and taking their son with her, but she seemed to shoot down such chatter in an Instagram response last night. “Where is Ryan? As a fellow addict I wish him the best. Is he in treatment still?” a follower asked Standifer in reply to her Halloween picture, to which she directly responded: He is doing SO good. Proud of him. We think this is the first time Mackenzie has even acknowledged that Edwards is in treatment. Perhaps that’s progress, considering Standifer spent the better part of the last year insisting that Edwards was clean and sober following his 2017 weeks-long rehab stint. Despite the many times Edwards has faced drug charges , Mackenzie has continued to deny that her husband has a substance abuse problem. But he does. No one can say any differently now. Justin Bieber is sporting a scary new haircut — just in time for Halloween! That’s right — he’s no longer sporting that long, dirty blond hair. Instead, he’s shaved his head. The results are, honestly, a little jarring. We hope Justin’s wife likes it. Take a look: Like we said, this boy went and shaved off all of his hair. Justin shared this selfie to his Instagram Stories. We don’t know what brought this on — perhaps some impulse. We also don’t know why he distorted the image from the selfie so heavily. (Are clearly visible photos boring, now?) It’s a pretty radical change from how his hair has looked earlier this year. In fact, back in May, Justin gleefully showed off his hair. “Long hair don’t care,” he told his followers on Instagram. “And my stash is gorgeous.” He meant to write “stache,” but we’ve all made typos, especially on social media. While his creepy mustache made him look like someone you’d cross the street to avoid, his hair could have looked nice. “I’m going to grow my hair down to my toes,” Justin wrote at one point on Instagram. It seems that his plans have changed. Justin didn’t really seem to do anything to style his hair. (Some openly wondered if he even showered on a daily basis, because his hair often looked … not so good) While women — especially celebrity women — are often expected to maintain their appearance, men are often given a free pass. Justin may find long hair to be a pain to maintain. He clearly didn’t want to put in the work. Since he’s already a celebrity — and he’s married — maybe he decided that looking good isn’t worth the effort. We guess that he can just rely upon his torso to catch people’s attention instead of his hair. Oh, wait, Justin plastered his torso with 100 hours of tattoos . Well, he still has a good shape. And, like we said, maybe he truly stopped caring about his looks because he’s married. That’s a shame, because Hailey is a model and you know that she’s going to keep putting effort into her own appearance — including her hair. This is probably just a taste of the impulsive decisions that Hailey is going to have to grin and bear. Just a few weeks ago, Justin and Hailey stopped by a salon and got their hair trimmed together. We guess that Justin isn’t up for repeating that experience. This is not the first time that he’s shocked fans by mowing off his mane. Back in 2016, Justin shaved his head. At the time, he had turned his then-platinum hair into controversial dreadlocks. (Some celebrities are so far in the bubble that they’ve never heard of cultural appropriation) Sometimes, celebrities find it freeing to cut their hair dramatically. Those stars are usually women, who are told by managers and by media that their hair needs to be styled in certain ways. We’re not sure that Justin was carrying out some grand act of rebellion. But at the end of the day, it’s his hair and hsi body and he can do whatever he likes to it. That said, you can still have an opinion about his new look. Some people will even like it.
