The Duchess of Cambridge rode the bus and the tube this week in honor of London Poppy Day, but that wasn’t the only transportation-related news she made. Kate Middleton revealed that she has been taking flying lessons, making Prince William’s wife even more awesome than previously believed (if that’s possible). The royal mom, whose grandfather, Peter Middleton was a Royal Air Force pilot, said, “My grandfather flew planes… I’ve had a few lessons on fixed wing (aircraft).” Why does she want to fly? And where? The 31-year-old Duchess didn’t elaborate on either, but how cool is she for picking this up as a spare-time hobby? Naturally, this revelation has led to much hypothesizing as to what instructor is coaching her. William (who flies helicopters, not fixed-wing planes) is out. Not only is this not his area of aircraft expertise, but he would prohibited from being in a plane with Kate Middleton at the same time. So no chance there. This has led the Daily Mail and others to conjecture that Prince Harry (who took fixed-wing lessons himself) is teaching her . Not impossible … but darn close. Any Middleton detail is bound to take on a life of its own and spark rumors galore, but the Harry flying lesson one is pretty high up on the ridiculous scale. Although, the image of Harry blasting music in cockpit while an impeccably dressed Kate sits at his side rolling her eyes with a slight smile is pretty fantastic. Troubled (or perhaps reformed?) Teen Mom star Amber Portwood was released from Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility after 17 months behind bars Monday. Her brother Shawn, with whom she is close, took to Twitter with an encouraging status update on his 23-year-old sister’s release from the big house . Amber Portwood Released From Prison After 17 Months “Amber is out and looking better than she ever has because she is clean (of drugs) and healthy,” her wrote. “It’s time to start a new chapter. #Iloveyousis.” “I think I speak for everyone when I say we all are [rooting for her],” he replied to a tweet from Sharon Bookout, mom to Portwood’s co-star Maci Bookout. “But after spending the day with her I know she will be OK.” We all do hope that’s true. But with a history like Amber Portwood has, it’s far from a given. Can she make the most of this next chapter, as Shawn says? She earned a combination of earned credit time for good behavior and completion of programs, which resulted in her period of incarceration being reduced. That bodes well, given that 17 months is not a small length of time to be locked up, even if it’s considerably shorter than her five-year prison sentence. Still, it will take a major life turnaround to put this chapter behind her for good. Saying all the right things and doing them over time are very different. Dr. Conrad Murray has been receiving more death threats than he can count since his release from jail, and the FBI is investigating at least some of them. A group of Michael Jackson fanatics is believed to be responsible. The threats have been targeted at both Dr. Conrad Murray and Murray’s lawyer, Valerie Wass, who called out fans who threatened Murray before: “One blow to the head is all you need.” If you think MJ fans are insignificant … you are dead wrong, DEAD wrong.” (A direct response to her quote about the late singer’s fans) “Better get that hair brushed and be ready because [Michael Jackson] fans will be everywhere setting yours and Murray’s lies straight.” Fans are going after Wass because Murray is in hiding, but also because she confronted a screaming fan who claimed that Murray was a murderer. Wass fired back, after Murray’s release from prison , “If you were not so ignorant, you would know he was not convicted of murder!” And she continued to rant. Wass also remarked after her infamous client’s release that the crazed Jackson fans are “annoying, but insignificant.” That comment did not go over well. The FBI is currently on the case.

For a legitimately heartfelt reason this time: the singer has gotten a new tattoo in honor of her grandmother. Miley showed it off today in a Twitter photo, telling a follower the image is of her “mammie because I am her favorite & she is mine.” Ouch. Sorry. Tough break there, Billy Ray Cyrus. The ink depicts the artist’s grandmother’s face and neck and it fades just before getting to Miley’s right wrist. Kat Von D was actually the one to draw the tattoo on Miley and she took to Instagram soon afterward and wrote: “Love, love, loved tattooing you last night, @mileycyrus.” This is Miley’s fourth tattoo overall. Demi Lovato has taken a break from threatening Kanye West to come out with a new music video. The young X Factor judge makes a sullen turn in the video for “Let It Go,” a song that will be featured on the soundtrack for Frozen . In the footage, we see Demi all bundled up in black while standing in a cold, dark mansion that appears to be abandoned. All the furniture is covered in white sheets. Scenes from Frozen – which hits theaters on November 27 and which features the voices of Josh Gad and Kristen Bell – are interspersed with close-ups of the artist.
