Money Mitt Robney Wins GOP Presidential Nomination…And Some Repubs Ain’t Too Happy

Yeah…it’s official. It’s really no surprise that Mitt won the GOP Presidential Nomination today; Romney finished with 2,061…well over the 1,144 needed to claim the nomination but Republicans are not excited about Mitt. What many don’t know is that the Republican Party is severely divided. …the Republican National Convention has hardly played out according to the script that Mr. Romney’s advisers had written. The storm scrambled the convention schedule, while grass-root elements of the party loudly expressed their disapproval on the convention floor, threatening the images of a party united. Mr. Romney’s supporters passed new rules governing future primaries over the loud boos of Ron Paul supporters and other conservative activists who had objected to what they said was a power grab by the party’s establishment leaders. When the House speaker, John A. Boehner, called for a vote on the new rules, the chants for “no” were louder than for “yes.” Mr. Boehner ignored the protests, pressing ahead by saying the rules would be adopted “without objection,” even as the crowd continued to roar its disapproval. Despite the dissension, the task at hand remains: to use the most-watched moment of the Republican presidential campaign to humanize Mr. Romney in the eyes of voters with personal testimonials from his friends, his colleagues and — perhaps most importantly — his wife. The vote to approve the rules came after aides to Mr. Romney said they had reached a compromise with conservative activists who had rebelled against efforts by the Republican establishment to make it harder for candidates outside the mainstream to collect national delegates at the next convention. But grumblings persist among some delegates and other conservatives who say they do not trust Mr. Romney and organizers of the convention to have their interests at heart. “We were told no signs are allowed,” he said. Mr. Regi told him to try anyway, discretely handing him a poster. Who would have thought Good ‘ole Mitt would cheat and end up receiving an overwhelming number of delegate votes? A “Lil Positivity”: 50 Cent Partnering With African Entrepreneurs To Help Build Their Wealth

Fiddy’s giving back again in a big way. The rapper/actor/businessman has already partnered with the World Food Program by donating portions of Street King’s revenues to help feed starving children in Africa and now, he’s taking things a step further. “Giving back to hungry children with every shot we sell is only part of the story. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel across Africa, and one thing I’ve learned is that it is filled with vibrant, young entrepreneurs who are eager to cultivate a sustainable business sector that will fuel growth for their future. That’s why I’m giving African entrepreneurs the chance to bring SK to their country,” 50 wrote in a statement. His aim? Partner with entrepreneurs across Africa to not only introduce Street King to a vibrant market, but help others grow their businesses as well. And with Africa leading the way with six of the world’s fastest growing economies, 50’s aims are not only admirable, but they’re good business as well. “I’ve had so much interest coming from Africa since I’ve launched SK. That’s why I’m opening up submissions to entrepreneurs across the continent to become distribution partners.” According to AllAfrica.com, 50 recently visited Kenya, where he spent time visiting schools across the nation. “Everyone thought that we would expand immediately to Europe or South America. But if you know SK, you know the vision has always been to support my roots in Africa.” This is the type of positive press Fiddy needs to get more of. We hope this incentive sparks other businesses to step forward and help out on the one continent that needs our support the most. Source Images via Twitter/WENN

Homophobic Utah TV Station Refuses To Air New NBC Sitcom About Gay Couple Using A Surrogate!

In Utah you can have multiple wives… but if your syndicated TV show has anything to do with being Gay, it will get banned! The Utah station, KSL-TV, said it won’t broadcast New Normal when it premieres this fall. New Normal is based on a single mother’s life as she becomes a surrogate for a gay couple and ya know…that’s bad. “After viewing the pilot episode of The New Normal, we have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule,” Jeff Simpson, CEO of KSL parent company Bonneville International, told Deseret News. “For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.” Crude dialogue, explicit content and offensive characterizations were the main reasons why KSL-TV would not bring New Normal to air when it launches Sept. 11. Ellen Barkin isn’t taking this isht lying down either and she went to Twitter to let us all know how pissed off she is: Conservative group One Million Moms also had their own opinion of the new show: NBC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage,” the group said at the time. “These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture.” Source Images via WENN/Twitter Continue reading

Eff A Technology Thug Robbin’ Patents: Apple Beats Down Samsung In Court Ruling

Steve Jobs is doin’ his happy dance up in heaven right about now. A Jury awarded Apple $1 BILLION dollars worth of “damages” today after Apple accused Samsung of patent infringements on smartphones and tablets. …various Samsung products violated an Apple patent covering the “bounce back” effect when a user scrolls to the end of a list, and the pinch-to-zoom gesture that users make when they want to magnify an image on their screens. Apple had asked the jury to award it $2.5 billion in damages for what it said was Samsung’s violation of a handful of patents related to the physical design and software functions of the iPhone and iPad. In a counter suit, Samsung had demanded that Apple pay it $422 million for its own patent violations. The evidence Apple presented during the trial, including internal Samsung memos and strategy documents, left little doubt that the iPhone inspired a major effort by the Korean manufacturer to overhaul its mobile phone efforts. Guess Samsung and other IT competitors out there got schooled today. You steal from Apple and you’re gonna pay…BIG. Source Images via Shutterstock/Jo Yong-Hak/Reuters

Lance “Hopped Up On That Juice” Armstrong Caves In To Anti-Doping Agency

Say it ain’t so Lance. After fighting accusations for the more than ten years, famed cyclist Lance Armstrong surrendered on Thursday. The seven time Tour de France winning athlete said that he would not continue to contest charges thrown at him by the US Anti-Doping Agency. They’ve been accusing him of being doped up during his unbeatable years and called him out as one of the ringleaders of systematic doping on his team. Declaring “enough is enough,” Lance Armstrong says he will not fight charges brought by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, a stunning decision that will cause him to be stripped of the seven Tour de France titles that turned him into an American hero. USADA confirmed late Thursday it will strip him of all results since Aug. 1, 1998 and ban him from all competition for life. Armstrong said his decision did not mean he would accept USADA’s sanctions. His lawyers threatened a lawsuit if USADA proceeded, arguing the agency must first resolve a dispute with the International Cycling Union over whether the case should be pursued. “It is a sad day for all of us who love sport and our athletic heroes,” USADA CEO Travis Tygart said. “This is a heartbreaking example of how the win-at-all-costs culture of sport, if left unchecked, will overtake fair, safe and honest competition.” Lance rebuttled in his own statement by saying ““If I thought for one moment that by participating in USADA’s process, I could confront these allegations in a fair setting and — once and for all — put these charges to rest, I would jump at the chance,” Armstrong said. “But I refuse to participate in a process that is so one-sided and unfair…I know who won those seven Tours…The toughest event in the world where the strongest man wins. Nobody can ever change that. Especially Travis Tygart.” Lance will lose all of his titles, including his 2000 Olympic Bronze Medal, and all money he won from August 1998 and on! He’s also banned from competing, coaching, or having any official role with any sport that follows the World Anti-Doping Code. Armstrong insists that this is not a defeat for him and backed down so he could focus on his family and his Livestrong Foundation. Must have been some cray isht going on behind closed doors for him to just walk away. SMH Source Images via WENN

For Discussion: Should Weezy Throw Out An Apology For Dissin’ New York?

New York Senator Malcom Smith isn’t too cool with Lil Wayne right now. He’s called Weezy out and is asking fellow New Yorker Nicki Minaj to step in and encourage Wayne to apologize. The offending comment, via MTV, was brief: “Flat out: I don’t like New York,” Wayne said Monday when he was asked how performing with Minaj in the city went last week. Smith responded swiftly, issuing a statement slamming Wayne and praising New York as “the birthplace of the Hip Hop music movement.” Smith, who recently helped promote an anti-gun initiative in the city, also slammed Wayne’s 2007 gun possession arrest, which resulted in the rapper serving eight months on Rikers Island. At a Times Square press conference Wednesday, Smith’s crusade continued. He railed against Wayne for making money in New York while bashing it and alleged the rapper’s comments had also insulted the likes of Frank Sinatra and Jay-Z, because both men had “made endearing” songs about the city. Charles Fisher of the Hip Hop Summit Youth Council also expressed concern that Wayne’s comments could spark a rap war, Politicker reported. “Sixteen years ago, Tupac Shakur was murdered, and Biggie Smalls came right after that….We can’t afford to have a war between New York and the South. Lil Wayne is out of Atlanta, grew up in New Orleans,” Fisher said. “It is my hope and I believe and I want to believe that he had a lapse in mental judgement for some strange reason and I hope that he will think about it,” Smith said. “New Yorkers are forgiving people. We’re prepared to forgive Lil Wayne if, in fact, he makes a sincere apology.” Let us know what you think. Does Smith have a point or is he a little sensitive? Source Images via Twitter/WENN

What Would You Do? One Woman Shares Her Story Of Pregnancy After Being Raped

Seems Todd Akin’s comment had a huge impact on women brave enough to come out and tell their stories. Women everywhere, one after the other, have been taking their tragedies to the media in a heroic effort. Shauna R. Prewitt wrote about her experience and how, years later, she’s raising her daughter who was the product of a viscous act so many of us struggle to tell. While a student in my final year of college, at age 21, I was raped. I have dissected that moment — the horrifying moment that I became a “victim” — from every possible angle. I have poked and prodded, examined and re-examined. Regrettably, I have even suspected myself in a desperate, ultimately futile attempt to understand how I became a victim….People who did not even know me were quick to comment or speculate on my rape. What were you wearing? Did you scream loudly? Did this occur in public? Eight years after my rape, I find myself on trial against ignorance again. Rep. Todd Akin’s recent comments that “legitimate rape” rarely results in pregnancy not only flout scientific fact but, for me, cut deeper. Akin has de-legitimized my rape. You see, nine months after my rape, I gave birth to a beautiful little girl. You could say she was conceived in rape; she was. But she is also so much more than her beginnings. I blissfully believed that after I finally had decided to give birth to and to raise my daughter, life would be all roses and endless days at the playground. I was wrong again. It would not be long before I would learn firsthand that in the vast majority of states — 31 — men who father through rape are able to assert the same custody and visitation rights to their children that other fathers enjoy . When no law prohibits a rapist from exercising these rights, a woman may feel forced to bargain away her legal rights to a criminal trial in exchange for the rapist dropping the bid to have access to her child. For the sake of her child, the woman will sacrifice her need to see her once immensely powerful perpetrator humbled by the court. I know it because I lived it. I went to law school to learn how to stop it. Having fought this injustice for the past several years, I have come to believe that ignorance is to blame for this legal absence. Opponents argue no woman would ever choose to raise the child she conceived through rape. The only two studies to analyze the choices made by pregnant raped women indicate otherwise — at least 30% of women who conceive by rape make this choice. Others argue that no rapist would ever seek parental rights. Not only does my experience and that of others I know prove otherwise, but it is not surprising that a man who cruelly degrades a woman would also seek to torture her in an even more agonizing way, by seeking access to her child. Today, it seems we may face a new and unbelievable challenge: convincing legislators that women can conceive when they are raped. Our heart goes out to every Woman out there who’s ever felt that indescribable fear and struggles because she was violated. Make sure you Vote this year so we can keep Congress and Fat Cat Politicos out of our Crocthes! Source Images via Shutterstock
