Author Marcus J. Moore Is Turning Kendrick Lamar’s Impact On Black America Into A Book

Christopher Polk/Getty Images for NARAS Kendrick Lamar’s Rise To Fame Is The Basis For New Biography Kendrick Lamar has been a staple in the rap game for years now, but following his recent rise to super stardom, his impact on hip-hop is completely undeniable. It’s only right that the Compton rapper’s effect on culture be officially documented, and a book on Lamar’s lasting imprint is coming soon. Written by author Marcus J. Moore, the book is going to be titled  The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America . Moore announced the upcoming book on his Twitter account on Thursday, happily sharing the news of his new project. He wrote, “Some big news I’ve been eager to share: I’ve signed with @TouchstoneBooks to write the cultural biography of Kendrick Lamar. My book, ‘The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America,’ will detail his rise to rap superstardom.” Some big news I've been eager to share: I've signed with @TouchstoneBooks to write the cultural biography of Kendrick Lamar. Moore (@MarcusJMoore) March 22, 2018 The book is not only going to be a biography on the rapper’s life, but also appears to be a cultural biography, which will document Kung Fu Kenny’s effect on Black people and Black culture since he came into the music game. There’s no word on when this book is going to hit shelves or if Moore has even started writing the biography yet, but let’s hope we get ahold of this thing sooner than later. If you’re a fan of Kendrick, hip hop, or culture in general, this upcoming project sounds like a must-read.

The Finneeeesse: Woman Scores A $10,000 Voucher From United Airlines For Giving Up Her Seat

Robert Alexander/Getty Images United Airlines Passenger Scored a Voucher Worth $10K A woman in Washington, D.C . is going down in the history books for the most legendary finesse of all time. She put every other customer service offer to shame by scoring a $10,000 voucher from United Airlines. Yep, $10,000. She’s a legend. But as you might be able to predict, Allison Preiss said that getting the airline to cough up the dough was no easy feat. Preiss was on her way from Washington Dulles International Airport to Austin, Texas on Thursday morning when the airline staff starting asking passengers to volunteer their seats on the overbooked flight. As per usual, nobody volunteered, and when that happened, the airline told Preiss that she had to forfeit her seat, because she had paid the lowest fare. Obviously, Allison was pretty annoyed, so she took to Twitter to vent about the incident. After that, one airline worker tried to backpedal and completely change the situation, telling Preiss that she was only bumped because the plane had a broken seat. . @united offering $1K in travel credit for an oversold flight. If nobody bites, they will kick off the lowest fare passenger by pulling them out of the boarding line. For a flight that THEY oversold. Unreal. — Allison Preiss (@allisonmpreiss) March 22, 2018 After that is when the gate agents started to negotiate. They first they offered her a $2,000 voucher, but Preiss declined and said she’d prefer a check. As they were about to write her a check for $650, one agent offered her a seat on the next plane and a $10,000 voucher. This offer is in line with the airline’s new cap for passengers who offer up their seats, which was raised back in April 2017, following a passenger being dragged off a plane for refusing to forfeit his seat. They really do not want to give me cash. They just offered me $10,000 in travel credit. TEN THOUSAND. — Allison Preiss (@allisonmpreiss) March 22, 2018 Good on you, Allison. This is a message to all future flight passengers to stick to your guns when traveling, you might just walk away with $10,000. Continue reading

Jesus Take The Wheel: Uber Driver Shot 3 Times Over $23 In The Bronx

PAU BARRENA/AFP/Getty Images Bronx Uber Driver Expected To Live After Being Shot 3 Times An Uber driver was shot multiple times while on the job in the Bronx early Saturday by a passenger who robbed him of $23, according to police. 26-year-old Jeffrey Cisnero Comacho was picking up passengers at about 12:45 a.m. when a man flagged him down on Boston Road and Fish Ave. Comacho obliged and drove the customer to Morrison Ave. near E. 174th St. in Soundview, where the passenger then whipped out a gun and shot the Uber driver at least three times, running off with his cash and wallet–which only consisted of $23. Luckily, Camacho managed to stumble out of his Toyota and wave down a passing police car. Medics rushed him to Jacobi Medical Center, where he is expected to survive, according to officials. “He’s very lucky to be alive,” said Fernando Mateo, the president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers. He visited the victim in the hospital and said, “We were at the hospital all morning. He’s got tubes going everywhere. Cops recovered three 9-mm shells and there are a lot of exit and entrance wounds.” The federation of drivers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that will lead to the gunman. Comacho didn’t have his cab equipped with a camera at the time.
