Bikini Bridge: Is It the Next Big Thing?

While there’s little confusion over why Kate Upton bikini photos or Kim Kardashian bikini photos spread like wildfire over the Internet, many users are now confused to find a new term filling up their timelines. What the heck is the Bikini Bridge?!? Simply put, as defined by Urban Dictionary, it is takes place when “bikini bottoms are suspended between the two hip bones, causing a space between the bikini and the lower abdomen.” As for why it’s creating a major buzz on social media… 4chan’s random imageboard /b/ is behind Operation Bikini Bridge, which is an attempt by the board to make folks believe the Bikini Bridge is “the next big thing.” It it asking users to share photos such as the one above and, in Phase 2 of the Operation, is refers to the Bridge as an “unhealthy obsession.” “After a fair amount of circulation has been accomplished, we circulate the images throughout parts of the Internet known to be biased on the subject of weight (i.e. thin privilege, fat shaming, etc),” one anonymous /b/ user wrote. “This should cause large enough of a stir to snowball into a fairly big subject.” In other words: the board is simply trying to stir debate. And few things stir debate more on the Internet than the topic of weight. Just ask fitness guru Caroline Berg Eriksen , who posted photos of her VERY flat stomach just four days after giving birth. Over the past 24 hours, meanwhile, #bikinibridge and #bikinibridge2014 have been tweeted more than 2,400 times. The term isn’t actually new (some say it was invented five years ago), but it still could be on its way to being The Next Big Thing.

In White Folks News: Piff Puffin’ Miley Cyrus’ Smoking Controversy Being Investigated By Dutch Police

Miley smoking a joint on stage was an attention slorin’ move, but is it worthy of a police investigation? Miley Cyrus’ Smoking Controversy Being Investigated Taxpayer dollars hard at work. According Agence France-Presse: Dutch authorities have launched an investigation into whether a smoking ban was violated after US pop star Miley Cyrus lit up what appeared to be a joint on stage during the MTV music awards in Amsterdam. “We received complaints about smoking which was also seen on television. We have to investigate,” Tjitte Mastenbroek of the National Food and Consumer Authority (NVWA) told AFP on Tuesday. “We will shortly be meeting the Ziggo Dome’s management to check what exactly happened there,” he said, referring to the venue. Publicity-seeking Cyrus, 20, lit up what appeared to be a sticky icky cigarette on stage during Sunday night’s MTV European Music Awards live show at the Ziggo Dome after accepting the Best Video award for her hit single “Wrecking Ball.” Cyrus took what seemed to be a half-smoked joint out of her Chanel bag and lit it up inside the venue which can hold up to 17,000 people. The incident was cut by MTV when it rebroadcast the show in the United States, preferring to show a wide-angle crowd shot. Although sticky icky is technically still illegal in the Netherlands, the country in 1976 decriminalised possession of less than five grammes (around a sixth of an ounce). Mastenbroek said the consumer watchdog was investigating why Cyrus lit up in a smoke-free area. “There is a smoking ban in public places in the Netherlands. Employees have the right to a smoke-free environment and this includes camera and sound personnel,” he said. “After meeting the Ziggo Dome’s management we will decide whether possible steps will be taken,” Mastenbroek added. Ziggo Dome spokesman Danni Damman said the venue had a strict non-smoking policy and security personnel would ask any smoker not in a designated area to put out a cigarette at once. Cyrus’ lighting up “caught us by surprise. It’s not easy to interfere in a moment like that,” he told AFP. He said the venue had not yet received word from the NVWA. “Once they have contacted us we’ll be able to say more,” he said. The MTV Europe Awards are held each year in a different European city and will be hosted next year in Glasgow, Scotland. Lady Gaga Covers Glamour, Slams Photoshop Use

Lady Gaga is not a fan of excessive Photoshop on her magazine photos. She makes this very clear in the new issue of Glamour , which she covers. At Glamour’s 2013 Women of the Year Awards, the December cover girl accepted her award with a sharp critique of Glamour ‘s Lady Gaga photos . Speaking at Carnegie Hall, Lady Gaga said that, like fellow honoree Malala Yousafzai , she was going to use her voice to speak up about her cover. “I felt my skin looked too perfect. I felt my hair looked too soft,” said the star of the images. “I do not look like this when I wake up in the morning.” Speaking slowly and carefully, Gaga made it clear that the way covers like this are tweaked and smoothed can have damaging effects on readers. She urged young people to “fight back against the forces that say you have to be beautiful,” and called for the publications themselves to change: “It is fair to write about the change in magazines. But what I want to see is the change on covers… When the covers change, that’s when culture changes.” It’s a theme that’s becoming more and more common lately, in response to airbrushing techniques that seem to be getting more and more overt. Some say the idealization of unrealistic female bodies, in particular, can be problematic for today’s youth – and that image doctoring is a primary culprit. Gaga’s outspoken critique of the overuse of photoshop (as we saw in a great video starring Sally Gifford Piper ), is a bold move, by any measure. Especially given that the superstar was receiving an award from the very magazine she was critiquing, her point was even more vivid and noteworthy. Lady Gaga’s overarching message, though, was more broad and abstract – pro-acceptance, particularly of people’s quirks, tastes and appearances. What do you think? Will stars like Gaga speaking out against airbrushing make a difference? And is there even a difference that needs to be made? Share your comments with THG below …

In Piff Puffin’ White Folks News: Miley Cyrus Talks Smoking Blunt On Stage, “You Just Gotta Decide To Not Give A F***”

No one wants to see her piff puff on stage or twerk her cakes. Miley Cyrus Refers To Blunt Smoking As A Blur Miley needs to get it together because piff puffin’ and bad twerking don’t go together. According to US Weekly reports: Outraged over Miley Cyrus’ latest stunt? Tell it to someone who cares. As the “Wrecking Ball” singer, 20, made very clear via Twitter on Monday, Nov. 11, she’s not at all bothered that other people are bothered by her onstage antics — which, as of Sunday’s MTV European Music Awards, include lighting up a joint on television. “Sometimes in life you just gotta decide to not give AF,” she tweeted the morning after the awards show, where she made headlines for smoking during her acceptance speech for Best Video. “Last night was a blurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Thanks @katyperry for hosting,” she added later, alongside a fuzzy picture of her at the event. “So much fun last night! Amsterdam, you’re the dopesssst, thank you for always being so good to me.” The controversial former child star has spoken openly before about her love of smoking sticky icky — but puffing away onstage was a bold move, even for her. It was so bold, in fact, that when the EMAs were rebroadcast in the U.S., MTV censored the stunt and instead showed footage of the audience watching Cyrus’ speech. “No one was expecting it to happen,” a source told Us Weekly of the incident. “It was so brazen, so shameless. It was so uncalled for.” Whatever she’s smoking on, it might be too much of a good thing. SMH. Getty

The suing swirl ! Kim And Kanye Sue Youtube Co-Founder For Leaking Proposal Video Via RadarOnline reports: Kim Kardashian has filed a lawsuit against Chad Hurley, accusing the YouTube co-founder of leaking Kanye West‘s wedding proposal at AT&T Park in San Francisco, RadarOnline.com has confirmed. Hurley filmed a behind-the-scenes video of West’s over-the-top proposal to Kim on her 33rd birthday, Oct. 21. In the clip, a 50-piece orchestra is playing Lana Del Ray‘s “Young and Beautiful” before the rapper, in a dark suit, bends down on one knee and proposes to the reality TV star, in a short white dress, with a 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond stunner. But Kardashian was seeing red after the video appeared online, because in the lawsuit, she alleges that Hurley signed a confidentiality agreement. The docs state, “Hurley proceeded to try to turn the event into one starring himself broadcasting the images he knew were the property rights of someone else.” The irony is that cameras for Keeping Up With The Kardashians were present and filming the entire proposal, which will air, although West will have the final approval of it. Kardashian is seeking unspecified damages. Do you agree with Kardashian suing Hurley? Continue reading

Lara Flynn Boyle Photos: What The Heck is Going On There?

Some new Lara Flynn Boyle photos have surfaced that raised plenty of eyebrows online, given how different she looks than at any point in the past. The Practice actress was shopping at The Glen Centre in L.A., and from the looks of some of the images, appears to have had a plastic surgery mishap. Or not. People close to Boyle say it was the product of nothing but bad photos and angles, not the result of surgery or illness as some have speculated. You buying it? Check out the report below and see … Lara Flynn Boyle Photos As you can see, Lara Flynn Boyle’s “look” is consistent in several photos taken from multiple angles this week, making the “bad picture” defense dubious.
