Source: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin / Getty People Aren’t Having PETA’s Criticisms Of Steve Irwin Animal rights organization PETA is facing backlash once again, this time for criticizing Google and their decision to honor the late Australian conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin with his own Google Doodle. He was known as “The Crocodile Hunter,” but Steve Irwin wasn't exactly hunting crocodiles… he was saving them . He & his wife spent their honeymoon capturing crocodiles & the footage they shot became the pilot for #TheCrocodileHunter ! #GoogleDoodle → https://t.co/z8PPgDaXfr pic.twitter.com/9BXTXP8bk3 — Google Doodles (@GoogleDoodles) February 22, 2019 PETA President Ingrid Newkirk issued in a statement about why the organization doesn’t approve of the tribute, saying: “PETA must ask who commissioned these dangerous, hagiographic cartoons of a man who died while harassing a stingray, dangled his baby while feeding a crocodile, and ‘wrestled’ wild animals who were minding their own business. This fawning, ignorant tribute is a slap in the face to the vast majority of people who acknowledge that wild animals are entitled to be left alone in their natural habitats.” They went on to tweet that Irwin’s actions were not on target with his “supposed message of protecting wildlife.” Steve Irwin’s actions were not on target with his supposed message of protecting wildlife. A real wildlife expert & someone who respects animals for the individuals they are leaves them to their own business in their natural homes. — PETA (@peta) February 23, 2019 Just like any time PETA does anything, people immediately started to go in on the organization not only for criticizing a dead man, but someone we all love and respect so much from our childhoods. the thing is… you as a company don’t actually give a fuck about any of what you’re saying about Steve Irwin. You knew that by dragging a beloved dead man’s name through the mud, you’d get more eyes and clicks on your brand. Ya know what you’re doing. Rage marketing works. — Ryan Magee (@elirymagee) February 23, 2019 Steve Irwin and his family reclaim land for animals and run a massive wildlife rescue. His life mission was to save animals and educate people about them. I’m one of many vegetarians who rip out their hair when @peta weighs in. Shame on you. https://t.co/m4fdNymjao — Maureen Johnson (@maureenjohnson) February 23, 2019 Damn Peta loves disparaging the dead for RTs https://t.co/FlbIvGhXuB — Matthew A. Cherry (@MatthewACherry) February 23, 2019 Basically everyone after seeing Peta's tweet about Steve Irwin pic.twitter.com/7nfZqbDjVt — Chase #HereWeGo (@ChaseM105) February 22, 2019 Man… I’ve never seen this website mobilize across cultural and political barriers before… until PETA came at Steve Irwin…. that dude really could’ve saved the world. Uniting twitter posthumously is God like. — Chris Long (@JOEL9ONE) February 23, 2019 Criticizing PETA always seems to bring people together–especially when they’re going against the one-and-only Steve Irwin. As many people pointed out, Irwin’s family continues to do a lot for wildlife preservation, while those same statistics aren’t really on PETA’s side. Steve Irwin died on September 4, 2006 after being stung several times by a short-tail stingray–and even 13 years later, he’s still making an impact.
Source: Alberto E. Rodriguez / Getty Captain Marvel Gets Swarmed With Misogynist Reviews Captain Marvel doesn’t come out until next month, but the film’s Rotten Tomatoes page is already filled with negative reviews. The reviews aren’t about the actual movie, though, but the movie’s lead, Brie Larson , and some comments she made that rubbed some angry white dudes the wrong way (go figure). When speaking on the nature of press junkets recently, Larson advocated for opportunities for a more diverse community of film critics and journalists. Her most recent comments went down during an interview in the March 2019 issue of British Marie Claire , where Brie gave her take on the “overwhelmingly white male” representation among film critics–she even reached out to Dr. Stacy Smith from USC’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, whose 2017 study revealed that 80 percent of film critics were men; Top critics who are women of color make up only 2.5 percent. This isn’t the first time Larson has made her stance on the issue of diversity and inclusivity known. Last June, she expressed her concerns during a speech at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards , highlighting how white males aren’t always be the right audience to review every single type film. “I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time ,” she said. “It wasn’t made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color.” She goes on to clarify: “Am I saying I hate white dudes? No, I am not. What I am saying is if you make a movie that is a love letter to women of color, there is an insanely low chance a woman of color will have a chance to see your movie, and review your movie.” These comments have angered white men who desperately need something to be angry about, and thus, the Rotten Tomatoes page of a film that’s not even out yet gets bombarded with negative reviews . Here’s a few examples of these “reviews”: “Once Brie went on an anti-White male tirade I lost interest in this movie. What should I pay to see a woman who hates White men.” “Larson has made it clear…men need not attend this movie.” “Why Marvel decided to cast a very vocal racist and sexist aimed at white males, I’ll never know.” “Larson’s sexist and racist attitudes don’t want me to spend money on this anyway, so here you go, Ms. Larson.” “Wish the lead actress wouldn’t have injected her dislike of white men into the discussion. A complete turnoff.” “as a white male i dont think Brie would want me watching this movie” Well, you get the idea. Once again, white men are threatened by the idea that someone other than them should also have a seat at the table. Don’t worry, we won’t miss y’all at the movie theaters on March 8.

Source: Robin Platzer / Getty Warner Wolf Arrested For Defacing Racist Name Of His Gated Community There’s a lot of white folks these days posing as “allies” who at one point enjoyed a little Blackface , but we think we found one that we can believe in. According to TMZ , iconic sportscaster Warner Wolf was arrested at his Naples, Florida (HEY! FINALLY A DECENT HUMAN FROM FLORIDA!) for defacing the sign outside his swanky, private, gated community. Wolf lives in a neighborhood called “Classic Plantation Estates”, a name that he has been lobbying the homeowners association to remove because it’s racist as hell. Heh, good luck convincing white people in Florida that racism is bad. Being that his protest fell on deaf ears, he took matters into his own hands on November 30. Standing in the bougie fountain outside the gates, Wolf chipped away at the “plantation” part until it was removed. Wolf was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal mischief for over $1,000 in damages and was released on $5,000 bond. Salute to a real one.

He was attempting to explain why conservatives are so xenophobic but it sounds like he was just telling on himself. Peep the footages, as Cardi would say: We also happen to believe that its time for Tom to assimilate into shutting the f**k up.

Bill Lee On The Spot Over MLK Jr. Quote Each year on MLK day dusty buckets of expired imitation crab meat open their lie holes to spew quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. as if they actually know anything about the man outside of “non-violent”. This year, one such pachydermal politician, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, got chin checked from the pulpit for quoting Dr. King while voting issues that are completely counter to what the civil rights leader believed in. The good folks who work for MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes put together this lil’ montage of the epic dragging. The ancestors would be proud. At :49 the good Reverend starts to shake his head because he knows where this is going and he knows what he’ll have to do in response. Glory be to God. That was beautiful.
