According to Mail Online A young Indian woman was beaten to death by members of her own family and her boyfriend beheaded in an horrific honour killing after they were lured back to their village thinking they were going to be allowed to marry. Nidhi Barak, 20, a fine arts student, and Dharmender Barak, 23, who was studying at technical college, were killed last night as locals in Gharnavati village in the Indian state of Haryana watched on. The pair had eloped to nearby Delhi on Tuesday because their families did not approve of their relationship. But they had been lured back with promises that they would not be harmed and would finally be allowed to marry. Miss Barak’s parents and uncle have been arrested and police are now trying to trace her brother and other family members who disappeared missing since the crime. According to police the couple were tortured for several hours at Miss Barak’s home before she was beaten to death in full public view. Dharmender Barak was beaten and his arms and legs broken, before he was beheaded. His body was allegedly dumped near his family’s home at a public square in the village. Police, who had been alerted by a villager, reportedly caught Miss Barak’s family cremating her body on a pyre. Her half-burnt body and that of Dharmender Barak have been sent for a post-mortem. Local police chief Anil Kumar said: ‘While murdering the boy they also beheaded him. ‘We have arrested her father, mother and uncle and we are looking for her brother, a friend and driver of the car in which the couple were brought back to her home in Gharnavati village. ‘Both belonged to the same village and the same caste. It is an honour killing but the murder was not approved by society.’ They tricked them into believing they would be accepted…smh. Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri is brushing off the deluge of racist Tweets that followed her win last night, while denying that she bashed her predecessor. Many of the tweets were attacks on the fact that Nina, 24, is the first woman of Indian-American descent to win the pageant and wear the crown. She was referred to as “the Arab,” or “the terrorist,” or “Miss 7-11” by some, with commenters pointing out “This is America, not India” and so forth. If it’s bothering her at all, Nina Davuluri isn’t showing it. “I have to rise above that,” said the former Miss New York and native of Syracuse, N.Y. “I always viewed myself as first and foremost American.” “I’m so happy this organization has embraced diversity,” she said. “I’m thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America.” Meanwhile, Davuluri, 24, addressed a scandalous report that surfaced several days before Sunday night’s pageant in a sitdown with Good Morning America . According to Page Six , Nina was said to have been secretly recorded calling Mallory Hagan “fat as f–k” before the pageant. Hagan is Miss America 2013. At the time, she said the remarks were made by “people in my hotel room” and MIss America organizers said there was “no validity” to the report. “Oh my gosh,” said Davuluri on Monday, addressing the controversy head-on. “It was such an unfortunate situation. I never made those comments.” “I called Mallory and have apologized to her because it was the right thing to do. And we worked it out. She’s been an incredible resource throughout this journey.” She noted that she hugged Mallory Hagan after winning Miss America 2014 . “And I’m just so thankful to have her be a part of this,” Davuluri said. Nina said she was most proud of her talent portion of the show: “It’s the first time Bollywood has ever been performed on the Miss America stage and it’s such an honor for myself, my family and the Indian community, as well.” Nina graduated in 2012 from the University of Michigan with a degree in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science. She plans to pursue career as a physician. A Catholic nun in training was stripped of her innocence this week in India after a group of people, including one woman, acted out what is believed to be a revenge attack — of the most unimaginable kind! Via NYPost reports : A trainee Catholic nun in India was reportedly abducted and sexually assaulted over a week by men — including her cousins — in just the latest sick sex attack to shock the country. The 22-year-old was lured to a train station earlier this month in the Orissa region of India by her captors, who told her in a phone call that her mother was sick, according to reports. They then took her to another location and forced her to have sex over several days before returning her to the station. The assault is alleged to be a revenge attack. The suspects reportedly believe the victim’s brother may have been involved in the death of the father of one of the attackers, according to local reports. Two men and a woman have been arrested over the crime. The shocking crime comes to light a week after four Indian girls, aged 12 to 14, were abducted from a foster home in Lawada village in Pakur district, and sexually assaulted by up to 20 armed men. Brutal sex attacks have sparked furious protests in India since the gang rape of a young woman on a Delhi bus in December. Chelsey Ramer, a 17-year old member of the Poarch Creek Band of Indians, graduated on May 23 from Escambia Academy High School in Alabama – and paid the price for it. Literally. As a show of pride in her heritage, the student donned an eagle feather in her cap… which was considered a dress code violation and which resulted in a $1,000 fine. The school had passed around a contract prior to the event that said participants were not permitted to wear “extraneous items during graduation exercises unless approved by the administration.” Ramer did not sign the document, but she was told by the then-headmaster that she did not have permission for the feather. Still, she has no regrets. “It was worth it. It means a lot to me,” Ramer told a local TV station, though she did add: “I don’t think it’s fair at all. I feel like its discrimination.” Former teacher and Creek tribe member Alex Alvarez agrees. He said he was denied the chance to speak with the administration about the issue leading up to graduation, telling the Indian Country Today Media Network: “I think this is ridiculous. If they took the time to understand and respect the differences in individuals, this would have never happened. We don’t have much left as Indian people, to give a child an eagle feather as an achievement should be adhered to.”

The re-release is meant to mark the 75th Anniversary of the classic film, though it will actually fall just after its 74th Anniversary. I guess they couldn’t wait. The Wizard of Oz will now become the oldest film to be re-released in IMAX 3D, joining the likes of Titanic, Jurassic Park , and Top Gun . Ozzies can catch the film in 400 IMAX theaters for one week, beginning September 20. The event will be followed by the release of a 5-disc Blu-Ray set on October 1.
A student at Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington says she was turned away from her senior prom last month due to the size of her breasts. According to Brittany Minder, she showed up for the event in a low-cut gown and was told she wasn’t permitted to come inside because it was too revealing. “In my opinion, I feel that it is because I’m bigger chested and there is more cleavage that you can see, and there’s nothing I could really do about that,” Minder told KATU. The school’s dress code permits a strapless dress of this nature… as long as cleavage, midriff and lower back areas are properly covered. “All women are not created equal, and you cannot compare a golf ball to a grapefruit. It ain’t gonna happen,” said Brittany’s mom, Kim Minder. Brittany was eventually allowed to enter the prom once she covered her boobs with a shawl. But she only stuck around for an hour because she says the look made her feel “self-conscious.” “An important night of my life was ruined, and there’s no way I can gain that experience back,” she says.
Very sad news today out of Bollywood: Jiah Khan, a 25-year old star of Indian cinema, was found dead by her mother last night, having apparently killed herself via hanging. There was no suicide note found at the scene, but Mumbai officials tell Reuters that foul play is not suspected, though they plan to interview the last person to whom Khan spoke on the phone. Tweeted filmmaker Gopal Varma, who directed Khan’s first role in 2007, upon hearing of the star’s passing: “Just cant believe that someone as young and so full of life is just dead…. Never ever seen a debutant actress with more spunk and more spirit than Jiah when I was directing her in Nishabd . I don’t know the reason what led to this but jiah was very depressed about her career and scared for her future.” We send our condolences to Khan’s friends, family and loved ones.
