Aaron Leetch And Torrey Ward Deaths Illinois State University is currently in mourning after two members of their coaching staff’s lives ended in tragedy. After attending Monday’s NCCA Basketball championship game in Indianapolis, Aaron Leetch (L) and Torrey Ward (R) were killed when their small plane crashed. The Chicago Tribune reports: Two members of Illinois State University’s athletic department were among the seven people killed when their small plane crashed near the Bloomington airport while returning from the NCAA basketball championship game in Indianapolis, authorities said. They were identified as Aaron Leetch, deputy director of athletics for external operations, and Torrey Ward, associate head coach of the Redbirds men’s basketball team. “The entire campus (is) in mourning,” ISU President Larry Dietz said in a statement. Two other victims have been identified: Terry Stralow, a partner in a popular bar in Bloomington-Normal, and Scott Bittner, owner of a meat-processing company and owner of the twin-engine Cessna 414 that crashed. No information about the others killed was available, but authorities said everyone on board died in the crash. The plane left the Indianapolis airport about 11 p.m. Monday and hit heavy fog over central Illinois, authorities said. About 12:15 a.m., radar contact with the plane was lost, according to the sheriff’s office. A search was launched, and a Bloomington police officer discovered the wreckage in a field northeast of the airport, the office said. “It was determined that there were no survivors,” the office said. At some point “that radio contact was lost,” he said. Olson did not say if the pilot indicated experiencing any trouble. The pilot did not cancel the flight plan or make any alterations in flight, he said. So sad, condolences to the families of the coaches and the rest of the victims.

Colts Linebacker Josh McNary Charged With Sexual Assault Josh McNary, Linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts, has been charged with rape. A warrant has been issued for his arest amid some pretty damning reports from a 29-year-old woman he allegedly took back to his apartment last month. Via CNN : Indianapolis Colts backup linebacker Josh McNary has been charged with felony rape, a spokeswoman for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday. McNary, 26, has not yet been arrested, Peg McLeish said, but an arrest warrant was signed by a judge. McNary was also charged with felony criminal confinement and misdemeanor battery resulting in bodily injury. According to a probable cause affidavit, a 29-year-old woman reported to police on the morning of December 1 that she was raped hours earlier at the apartment of a man she met while out at a bar. She said she told the man several times she didn’t want to have sex and fought with him, scratching him on the face, neck, back and shoulder. The man forced her to have sex on his bed, she told police. She took the man’s cell phone as she left the apartment. A forensic nurse examined the woman and found injuries to her vagina and dried blood behind one ear. The document indicates detectives used the cell phone to identify McNary the next day. He was cooperative, police indicated, and he asked for a lawyer after being advised of his rights. A nurse found abrasions and scratches on his stomach, back, neck and shoulder, the document says. Investigators also found the woman’s clothing and an earring in McNary’s apartment. SMH!!! Everyone is innocent until proven guilty…but this definitely doesn’t look good.

According to NY Daily News: An Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer broke into his estranged wife’s home Thursday evening and shot her dead before turning the gun on himself, police said. “It’s a very difficult day in the city of Indianapolis,” Mayor Greg Ballard said at a 9:30 p.m. press conference. “We have lost two of our own. This one hurts deeply. This one hurts very deeply.” Sgt. Ryan Anders forced his way into the back door of Officer Kim Carmack’s home on Inishmore Way on the city’s west side around 5:40 p.m., police Chief Rick Hite said. Neighbors called police after hearing gunshots, and a responding SWAT team found the two dead inside. Carmack, a 21-year veteran of the city police force, had previously filed a restraining order against Anders, a 7-year veteran. Anders was on administrative leave after allegations of domestic violence and was required to turn in his service weapon, Hite said. “We had concerns about (Carmack),” Hite said of her rocky relationship with her estranged spouse. “We had concerns about both of them.” SMH. Emily Nesbit, an 11th grade English teacher, resigned last week after she was accused of having sexual relations with a student at her high school. Nesbit, 31, was charged with institutional sex assault, a third-degree felony. The student did not deny his relationship with the teacher. Police said the teacher’s phone number was listed as “My Lady Friend” in the student’s iPhone. Jim Irsay suddenly has a lot more to worry about than his team’s Super Bowl chances in 2014. The outspoken Indianapolis Colts owner was arrested late Sunday night for driving under the influence after getting pulled over near his home in Carmel. Jim Irsay Arrested on Drug Charges According to authorities, Irsay failed multiple field sobriety tests and also had various prescription drugs inside his vehicle at the time of his arrest. He faces a preliminary misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, along with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Bryant Orem said. A hearing is set for March 26. Irsay was released from the Hamilton County Jail after posting $22,500 bond and faces up to three years in prison if convicted across the board. “The team will issue additional statements when the facts are sorted and we are aware of the next steps to this process,” said Colts spokesman Avis Roper. “Many fans have reached out to express their concern and we appreciate their support.” In 2002, Irsay admitted to a dependency on pain killers, due to a number of orthopedic operation, but said he had received treatment for the problem. This is so sad . 18-Year-Old Student Drowns According to Mail Online An Indiana family is struggling to understand why a promising 18-year-old student who was bound for college in the fall drove her SUV into a reservoir and drowned. Authorities do not know what caused Peyton Reikhof to make the fatal decision to drive across 100 feet of backyards and submerge her vehicle in Geist Reservoir in upscale Fishers, Indiana, an Indianapolis suburb. They fear they may never know. Investigators say Reikhof acted alone, though they are not sure whether she plowed into the water on purpose or whether it was an accident. Foul play is not suspected. She was found Sunday after her boyfriend called police on Thursday to report that she left his house distressed. He said he was concerned about her well-being, WISH-TV reports. Reikhof had recently graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School and was planning to attend the University of Kansas on scholarship in the fall. Her family is heartbroken and struggling to understand what happened. ‘She was just an amazing girl. She really was. She had so many friends.
