Black Hetero Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor Says It’s Harder Being Gay In Hollywood Than It Is Being Black

Chiwetel Ejiofor: Gays Have It Worst In Hollywood It’s a good thing 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor is a straight black man and not gay because, according to him, it’s hard out here for gay actors in Hollywood. Way harder than black ones. Per a recent interview with The Times UK via Hindustan Times : Chiwetel Ejiofor believes Hollywood still marginalises people because of their sexuality. The industry has been accused of a lack of diversity following the 2016 Academy Awards nominations, where no African-American actor or director was nominated for a top honour for the second year in a row, but the actor “believes it’s harder for someone to succeed if they’re homosexual than if they’re black. “I hope this changes (but) I think it’s probably harder to be gay,” he said. “I think sexuality is still marginalised in a way that is pretty open. I think it’s tough. I think for one’s own peace of mind, for one’s own sense of self and psychological health, I feel like that’s the horrible thing about ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’… Because it produces a sense of shame, and therefore this sense of being ‘less than’, you know? And I hate that. I hate that for anybody.” But Ejiofor, 38, argues that at the same time, a person’s sexuality isn’t anyone else’s business, and if the individual wants to, they should be able to declare their preference without fear of it affecting their opportunities in life in any way. “If I hadn’t had the opportunities and the fortune that I have had, of course I would have a very different perspective to that, but I can’t be completely intellectually dishonest about what has happened in my life… It’s a tiny bit more nuanced for me to talk about,” he explained. Do gays still have it harder despite the number of LGBT characters popping up on both the small and big screen? Continue reading

Racist Arsonists Burned Down Five Black Churches In Ferguson, MO In 9 Days

Black Churches Burned In Ferguson Over the last week and a half, someone has been setting fire to Black churches all over Ferguson, Missouri , the site of Michael Brown’s murder by police and the civil unrest that ensued for months thereafter last year. The Fire captain has deemed the burnings definite arson, and the crime is being looked at as a potential hate crime. Via CBSnews : “It is arson. That’s why law enforcement is involved in this entire investigation,” said Captain Garon Mosby of the St. Louis Fire Department. Mosby would not rule out the possibility of a hate crime directed either at churches or at African-Americans. “My job is to love (them),” said Pastor David Triggs of New Life Missionary Baptist Church. “And I’ve forgiven this individual. We are going to tear down and rebuild.” There have been at least four previous fires at area churches but there are no details if any of them are connected, however, investigators say they have all started the same way: in the front two doors of the church. Since Oct. 8, fire has damaged five churches, all within a few miles of each other in north St. Louis city and county. In each case, the front doors were set on fire. Damage has ranged from a few hundred dollars at one church to the near destruction of another. The fires add to racial angst in an area still reeling from a police shooting and unrest in Ferguson last year. SMH! The racial issues in this area are clearly far from over. Hopefully they can find who is responsible before more places of worship go up in flames… CBS News Continue reading

‘I Hate You Lucious!’ Are Taraji & Terrence Feuding On The Set Of ‘Empire’ Over THIS???

First Yazz , now Taraji??? Are Taraji P. Henson & Terrence Howard Fighting On The Set Of Empire??? Rumors are currently swirling that Cookie and Lucious Lyon might have some real life drama. If you believe the latest reports, Terrence Howard isn’t just fielding criticism from Wendy Williams , he’s also catching hell from his “Empire” costar Taraji P. Henson. According to “inside sources”there’s drama on set between them because Taraji”s “irritated” by  her “bigheaded” costar. Eh…. InTouch Weekly reports: Sources exclusively reveal to In Touch magazine that Empire co-stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard have been clashing on set — and it’s causing major drama behind the scenes of the Fox hit. “It’s gotten so bad that Taraji can’t be on set for more than 30 seconds without staring daggers at him,” a source tells In Touch of Taraji, who became close with the actor when they starred in 2005’s Hustle & Flow. “She’s irritated by the pompous, bigheaded braggart that Terrence has become,” the source adds. “In the beginning, Taraji was the key supporter and apologist for his behavior,” says the source, noting that Taraji famously refused to take on the role of Cookie unless Terrence was cast as her on-screen love interest, Lucious. “But as his arrogance increased, she began to get annoyed.” Empire’s producers secretly love their stars’ bitter feud, because it “prompts some amazing, volatile scenes between them,” adds the source. “The animosity is working to the show’s advantage.” But waaaaait, are they seriously having issues??? Hit the flip for more.

Why Your Facebook Friend List May Be The Reason You’re Denied A Bank Loan In The Future

According to The Atlantic, the new technology will provide banks with a platform to review your Facebook friends, and if too many of them have poor credit, the bank can reject your application… The patent reads: When an individual applies for a loan, the lender examines the credit ratings of members of the individual’s social network who are connected to the individual through authorized nodes. If the average credit rating of these members is at least a minimum credit score, the lender continues to process the loan application. Otherwise, the loan application is rejected… Aaron Rieke, the director of tech policy at Upturn, says that it’s unlikely Facebook will make this feature available to financial institutions anytime in the near future… “It would really surprise me if they decided to get into the credit-scoring business, just because I think that’s going to make people feel panicked and uncomfortable.” [ MadameNoire ] “Native American” Dartmouth College Director Removed From Position Following Suspicion About Ancestry It looks like Rachel Dolezal has a spirit animal, and her name is Susan Taffe Reed.
