”Guy Code’s” Damien Lemon Hosting New TV Show BOSSIP is excited to share the news that comedian Damien Lemon (“Guy Code”) will be hosting a new TruTV show “Comedy Knockout” that debuts tonight 4/21 at 10:30 pm. We caught up with the New York native about his new venture. Check out our interview below, along with more details about the show: “Comedy K.O. is a game show, a competition show where three comedians battle to see who is the funniest,” Damien told BOSSIP.”I’m hosting, it’s judged by a live studio audience. They play games and we set them up with various premises to riff off and the funniest joke wins. So it starts off with three contestants, second round one of the three gets eliminated, and gets voted off by the studio audience and gets relegated to sit with the same people that just voted them off, so that gets awkward. That’s funny, but they’re still off to the side so they can heckle. The winner gets a Comedy K.O. and is able to give a speech, but the loser has to read an apology that has been pre-written by writers that they’ve never read before that is basically destroying their career. So it’s a fun show. It’s a good time. I’m excited about it.” Damien revealed the show’s executive producer Mo Mandel actually approached him about hosting. “It’s different being the host,” Lemon admitted. “It’s a learning experience, a different muscle to flex. One thing is, being the host is a totally different responsibility, you can’t really indulge in everything you have to referee. As a comedian I am sensitive to comedians, especially because we have a live studio audience so when a comedian is on a run they are trying to get that audience on their side and go all out, but if we get what we need I have producers in my ear like, ‘Okay, move on…’ so I gotta kinda shut people down in a way that is not killing them on television.” Asked to name his favorite competitor from the show, Lemon was quick to respond. “I know Jim Norton killed it, he is such a dope joke writer, it was so consistent, there were no flaws, but the whole vibe has been pretty fun.” Comedy Knockout pits comedians against each other in a series of fast-paced challenges, with the audience having sole discretion to decide who is the funniest person in the room. In each of the 10 half-hour episodes, host Damien Lemon (Guy Code) sends three comics into a battle of high stakes comedic gameplay. With points doled out based on the audience’s applause, it’s all about one-upmanship as competitors attempt to land massive comedy blows and whip the rowdy crowd into a frenzy of raucous laughter. The whole time, the comedians throw roast-like, rapid-fire jabs at each other to knock their opponents off balance. Every show ends with one comedian crowned champion, one eliminated and one ultimately forced to face the crowd and apologize for going down in shameful defeat. Guest comedians this season will include Jim Norton, Sherrod Small, Kevin Barnett, Jamie Lee, Arden Myrin, Chris Distefano and many more.

Get To Know Teedra Moses After an intense Atlanta show Teedra Moses carved out time to chat with BOSSIP about her confidence as an unapologetic grown as s***” songstress. “It’s not something distinctively new that I’m trying to give out, I think I’m just confident now,” said Moses. “I’m just like ‘yo this is what it is’. I’m not trying to win you over rather than I’m welcoming you. You’re invited. If you come, you come,if you don’t, nobody’s mad. [It’s] kiind of like a level of confidence that I didn’t have when I started because it was new. Now I’m just grown as sh*t and I’m very secure in who I am and what I’m representing and that lane that that is. I’m not trying to jump in anybody else’s lane. So I think at this point it’s just a little bit more solid.” It’s clear when she’s on stage that she is indeed solid in her craft, even through what she admittedly states was a turbulent show. That however didn’t stop her talent and the genuineness of her music from shining. “Really it was a bit of a mess, a lot of the behind the scenes things were really falling apart,” Teedra told BOSSIP. “But when I get on stage I don’t really think about that. I think about the connection with the people. It doesn’t really matter what’s going on behind me. I don’t concern myself with that when I get on stage. I really want to make somebody feel good because they didn’t come here for my problems, they came here to get away from their own.” Her diverse fanbase reflects this notion of authenticity and Teedra is never surprised by who she finds singing along to her music because her honesty attracts a broad range of different people. “From the beginning there’s been such a broad range. Like you have ratchet girls with gold teeth and tattoos, lawyers, doctors, stush girls that don’t wanna show their stush side. Tough guys, to gay guys singing along. White; black. Every time I do a show in New York there’s a group of people who come from Paris, I’m never surprised. It’s very hard for me to be surprised. Because what I’ve learned is that if you make music from an honest place, it honestly can reach anybody.
