Dozens of people including Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were indicted today by federal prosecutors in connection with a scheme aimed at getting students into elite colleges. The L.A. Times reports that the scheme centered around the owner of a for-profit Newport Beach college admissions company that wealthy parents paid to help their children cheat on college entrance exams and falsify athletic records of students to enable them to secure admission to schools including UCLA, USC, Stanford, Yale, and Georgetown, according to court records. The for-profit owner is William Rick Singer of the Edge College & Career Network who’s now charged with money laundering, obstruction of justice, racketeering and conspiracy to defraud the United States. He pleaded guilty in Boston this afternoon and is facing 65 years in prison. “All of these things, and many more things, I did,” Singer said. “I created a side door that would guarantee families would get in.” Lori Loughlin and her husband allegedly “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team” in order to facilitate admission to the university, adds The Times. Mind you Loughlin’s daughters did NOT play crew and allegedly fake photos of the girls on row machines were used as part of the scheme. So far Loughlin has not been arrested but her reps say she’s on a flight to Los Angeles and expected to surrender. Macy, prosecutors allege that they made a charitable contribution of $15,000 to participate in a college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of their eldest daughter. Their daughter was reportedly given twice the amount of time to take the SAT as other students and the paid proctor agreed to secretly correct her answers afterward. A sealed indictment claims that the girl received a score of 1420 on her SAT, an improvement of 400 points from her PSAT. Huffman is currently in police custody. Source: FOX / Getty ‘Empire’ Cast And Crew Anxiously Await News Of Season Six Renewal Fox hasn’t renewed Empire for season six and the cast and crew are anxious about their future paychecks according to what production sources have told TMZ . Word is that the folks who have been working on Empire for years feel that they should have heard by now whether or not Fox is interested in continuing to fund the production. In fact, they expected to hear about the renewal two weeks ago. Crickets. Each season for the past 5 years Fox has renewed the show in January, months ahead of the finale. We can’t imagine that this is going to do good things for morale on set. Obviously, people feel like Jussie’s case will be a major factor in the network’s decision. “Jamal” has already been cut from this season’s final two episodes. Even if Empire does return for season six, it looks like Jussie may be done for good. The suits at Fox aren’t really hype on him and the cast and crew perhaps even less so. Guess we’ll just have to see how everything plays out. Oh, the drama. Smh.

In a very real moment, she tells the publication that with success came more access to good food and voila, thickness . When the Web series started, I was very, very broke. Then more opportunities began to come,” she explains. “I was gaining New Money Weight.” As Issa saw it, the seemingly unlimited access to good food was one of the perks of her hustle. “When you get a good job, you’re like, ‘I can afford to eat at restaurants all the time!’ That adds up in weight.” While she was enjoying all that good food, Issa tells Women’s Health her “New Money Weight” started messing with her self-esteem and so she decided to get healthy. “Time to work out is so limited, but when I first started seeing myself on TV, I was like, ‘I gotta make time.’” she said. Like many of us, Issa was full of excuses at first, but now she’s found a routine that works. “I was a big excuse person when it came to exercising and eating right. I’d have spurts of trying to work out and being good. Then once I fell off, I’d be like, ‘Well, there’s always next year. Let me make it my New Year’s resolution.’ But even then, I would still be eating wrong while exercising vigorously.” (Issa is more “paleo-leaning” in her eating habits now, having rediscovered bacon after being a vegetarian for 15 years.) According to a statement via the organization, GLAAD’s Vanguard Award is presented to people who “have made a significant difference promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.” It went on to say, “Beyoncé and Jay Z are longtime allies and supporters of the LGBTQ community who use their global platforms to share messages that inspire and change the world for the better.” GLAAD noted the work that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé have done throughout their careers on behalf of the LGBTQ community. They include instances like Beyoncé notably speaking out against North Carolina’s anti-LGBTQ “Bathroom Bill” in 2016, also posting a message in support of LGBTQ students after Trump withdrew Obama-era protections for transgender students the following year. Bey has also prominently included LGBTQ people in several of her music videos, along with showcasing transgender actress Laverne Cox in promos for her Ivy Park clothing line. As for her husband Jay-Z, the GLAAD Vanguard Award comes only one year after the rapper received the Special Recognition Award for his song, “Smile,” in which his mother came out as a lesbian. Like Beyoncé, Hov has also made a point of prominently featuring LGBTQ people in his work, also supporting the passage of marriage equality. “Beyoncé and Jay Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “When Beyoncé and Jay Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear.” Previous winners of the GLAAD Vanguard Award include Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Demi Lovato, Whoopi Goldberg, and Britney Spears. The 2019 GLAAD Media Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 28th.
