Kim Davis: Kentucky Clerk JAILED For Refusing to Grant Same-Sex Marriage Licenses!

Earlier this week, outrage erupted over news that Kim Davis, a clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, was refusing to grant same-sex marriage licenses on the grounds that doing so would conflict with her religious beliefs as an Apostolic Christian. Today, a federal judge ruled that Davis is in contempt of court and ordered that she be locked up. Judge David Bunning stated that Davis is bound by an oath of office to carry out the duties of her position, and refusing to do so puts her in violation of the law. Interestingly, Davis was elected to her post as a Democrat last November, and she's been married four times herself. Needless to say, many in Rowan County were surprised to learn that she holds such conservative views on the issue of marriage equality. Davis will reportedly be held in custody until she complies with the court's order to grant licenses to all couples wishing to be married in Rowan County.

Attractive Men Are Offered Fewer Jobs It’s not just women who get penalized for being fine in the workplace. Apparently fellas have it even worse, with interviewers often refusing to offer them job positions despite their qualifications, fearful that their fineness will overshadow them in the long run. Via MailOnline : You might think that good-looking men have every advantage in life. But a new study suggests being handsome may not always work in a man’s favour – at least when it comes to his career. The research claims that attractive men are less likely to be given a job in a competitive workplace because they intimidate bosses. ‘It’s not always an advantage to be pretty,’ says Marko Pitesa, an assistant professor at the University of Maryland. ‘It can backfire if you are perceived as a threat.’ Interestingly, in Pitesa’s study, it was male attractiveness in particular, rather than female beauty, that made the most difference. If the interviewer expected to work with the candidate as part of a team, then he preferred good-looking men. However, if the interviewer saw the candidate as a potential competitor, the interviewer discriminated in favour of unattractive men. The results suggest that interviewers were not blinded by beauty, and instead calculated which candidate would further their own career. ‘The way we explain it here, pretty men just seem more competent, so it is actually subjectively rational to discriminate for or against them.’ On a deeper level, she adds, the behaviour remains irrational, since there’s no evidence that a real link exists between looks and competence. Well, that’s not fair. Ladies, next time you get approached a fine brother with no job, give him a break! It’s probably not his fault…

Khloe Kardashian Slams Haters: Don’t Judge!

Khloe Kardashian, never one to mince words, has come out swinging amid incessant rumors surrounding her allegedly impending divorce . Her message is simple: Don’t judge. She posted a message on Instagram (above) that seems to spell out her views regarding the scandal(s) that have rocked her marriage of late. Alleged scandals. “Never judge someone without knowing the whole story. You may think you understand, but you don’t,” Khloe’s message read, not so subtly. Lamar Odom, of course, has been linked to Jennifer Richardson and Polina Polonsky . Both woman claim to have been balled by the NBA star. Those close to the couple aren’t buying the cheating stories, however. “It just doesn’t add up,” one friend told E! News of the drama today. “Whenever I see them together, they’re very happy and in love.” Khloe and Lamar: Will it Last? “Desperate people will make all kinds of things up for money. Look at that woman who claimed to have hooked up with Kanye [West] … that ended up being BS.” True. And they also could have name-checked Myla Sinanaj . Others sources have suggested, without commenting on the allegations themselves, that whatever is going on with the two, they will work it out. Last week, momager Kris Jenner addressed the rumors, saying “Khloe and Lamar are absolutely not getting divorced. There’s been no talk of divorce.” Interestingly, neither Khloe or Lamar has commented specifically on Richardson or Polonsky, however, so for the time being, the chatter continues. Stephen Colbert’s Mother Passes Away at 92

Lorna Elizabeth Tuck Colbert – the mother of Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert, along with 10 others – passed away on Wednesday. She was 92 years old. According to an obituary in South Carolina’s Post and Courier , Lorna was an artist , businesswoman and church leader. She lost her husband and two kids in a 1974 plane crash, while another child died in a separate incident, leaving her survived by her remaining eight kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In February of last year, Stephen Colbert took a few days leave of absence to deal with an ill Lorna, only to return and give her a subtle shout-out in his first new show back: “Evidently, having 11 children makes you tough as nails,” he said. “Confidential to a lovely lady.” We send the Colbert family our thoughts and prayers.

Bindi Irwin Not Dead; Trending Hoax to Blame For False Report

Bindi Irwin, the 14-year-old daughter of late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, is alive and well despite a hoax reporting her untimely demise this week. A rumor that the teen died started to pick up steam on Twitter Friday, and then “Steve Irwin daughter dies” climbed all the way to No. 4 on MSN trends. We know, we know … who uses MSN trends. But still! Effed up! Two days ago Bindi tweeted a link to an interview she gave in Hong Kong, saying, “I had such a wonderful time there.” And posted the pic above. She’s fine. Interestingly, the consensus is that interest in Bindi and her new film Return From Nim Island , combined with her late father’s death, led to the “hoax.” In other words, chalk this up to technical problems and a bizarrely macabre trending snafu, rather than a deliberate campaign to fake-kill Bindi. Time to switch up the ol’ algorithm, MSN.

Punxsutawney Phil Handler Responds to Indictment, Takes Fall For Groundhog Day Mishap

Bill Deeley, the President of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club’s Inner Circle and Punxsutawney Phil’s chief handler, is taking the blame on this one. The beloved Pennsylvania rodent rightly predicted six more weeks of winter last month, but Deeley says he incorrectly interpreted Phil’s “groundhog-ese.” As a result, the Ohio prosecutor who light-heartedly indicted Punxsutawney Phil for his botched early spring prediction is now considering a pardon. “I’m the guy that did it; I’ll be the fall guy . It’s not Phil’s fault,” Deeley said in Phil’s defense. Butler County, Oh., prosecutor Mike Gmoser told the AP he is now reconsidering filing charges in light of the new evidence and may drop the case. “Frankly, he is a cute little rascal, a cute little thing,” Gmoser said, of Phil, not Deeley, 63. “And if somebody is willing to step up to the plate and take the rap, I’m willing to listen.” The Groundhog Day celebration in Punxsutawney, a small town about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, Pa., attracts worldwide attention each year. On February 2, he predicted spring would come early this year. So much for that. Weary of snow, wind and cold more than six weeks later, Gmoser announced issued a criminal in indictment of Phil for his 2013 Groundhog Day prediction . “Punxsutawney Phil did purposely, and with prior calculation and design, cause the people to believe that spring would come early,” Gmoser’s indictment said. Facetiously (we hope), he alleged that Phil deliberately mislead the people of Ohio and should be brought to justice, preferably by the death penalty. Good thing Bill stepped up and got him off the hook. Interestingly, this is two years in a row Phil has dropped the ball. After predicting six more weeks of winter last year, it was one of the warmest on record. Pressure’s on in 2014, buddy.
