Rihanna To Perform With Coldplay At Grammys

‘We Found Love’ singer will join band for ‘Princess of China.’ By Gil Kaufman Rihanna Photo: WireImage Rihanna and Coldplay will perform live together for the first time on February 12 when they take the stage at the 54th annual Grammy Awards for the televised debut of their Mylo Xyloto collaboration, “Princess of China.” Rihanna, nominated for four Grammys this year, broke the news on Twitter , writing, “My friends @ColdPlay and I will be sharing the stage for a performance at this years Annual Grammy Awards!” A short time later she added, “WE reached 2BILLION views on @youtube !!! THANK U!!! I’m in a great mood, and I got some GREAT NEWS!!! PRINCESS OF CHINA #GRAMMYS2012.” The show, which will be hosted by rapper LL Cool J , will also feature a performance by rock icon Paul McCartney, who will join a lineup that already includes Grammy nominees Foo Fighters, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Marks, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean. At the time Xyloto was released , Coldplay singer Chris Martin explained that the decision to invite another voice into the studio was made because of the unusual story arc of the band’s Grammy-nominated album. “Her bit on our record is my favorite bit. … When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music,” Martin told MTV News. “Our new record is sort of a story; it’s not quite a musical, but it’s dangerously close. There’s a bit of a love-story thread, so we really needed someone to sing even higher than me,” Martin said. “[It’s] hard, but very possible. You need to be a female really. For all [drummer] Will [Champion]’s good intentions, he [can’t do it] … “… So, in like a dream scenario, we had a song that I’d secretly kind of written to see if Rihanna would want to sing it,” Martin continued. “And then the rest of the band wanted to keep it, so we came up with the idea of asking her to sing it with us, and, to our great surprise, she said OK.” More Grammy performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. Mark Wahlberg Apologizes for 9/11 Remarks

‘I deeply apologize to the families of the victims.’ By Gil Kaufman Mark Wahlberg Photo: FilmMagic After a controversial interview in the February issue of Men’s Journal magazine went viral this week, “Contraband” star   Mark Wahlberg   issued an apology on Wednesday for suggesting that he might have changed the course of history on the day of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. In the interview, Wahlberg — who was scheduled to be on the flight from Boston to Los Angeles that morning which ended up crashing into one of the World Trade Center towers — said that if he had been there things might have turned out differently. “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did,” said Wahlberg, 40, who ended up taking a private charter plane earlier in the week and avoiding the flight that was overtaken by terrorists. “There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.'” Excerpts for the interview made their way online on Wednesday and TMZ reported that the Deena Burnett-Bailey, the widow of a 9/11 victim who was killed on United Airlines flight 93 when it crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania after terrorists tried to divert it to Washington, D.C., called the comments “disrespectful.” A short time later, Wahlberg issued his apology. “To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with, and to suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible,” said Wahlberg in a statement. Burnett-Bailey’s husband called her from the flight that was overtaken by four al Qeada terrorists and later crashed after several passengers tried to regain control of the aircraft. “I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention.” Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: Mark Wahlberg

Vanessa Hudgens is currently in Australia, premiering Journey 2: The Mysterious Island , posing on red carpets, showing off various dresses . Oh, and answering awkward questions about her ex. Indeed, the actress appeared yesterday on a local news show alongside Josh Hutcherson, her co-star in the film and, yes, her ex-boyfriend . Peter Dinklage Shouts Out Dwarf-Tossing Victim In Golden Globes Speech

Aspiring actor Martin Henderson was partially paralyzed after drunk stranger picked him up and threw him in U.K. By Terri Schwartz Peter Dinklage at the 2012 Golden Globes Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Peter Dinklage might have started off his Golden Globes acceptance speech Sunday night (January 15) with a charming anecdote about his mother telling him Guy Pearce was going to beat him for the best supporting TV actor award, but he ended it on a serious note. The “Game of Thrones” star gave a shout-out to fellow dwarf Martin Henderson but, rather then elaborating, he just said “Google him.” Within minutes, Henderson’s name was a trending topic on Twitter. The aspiring actor was partially paralyzed on his birthday after a drunk stranger picked him up and threw him while he was having a cigarette outside a pub in the U.K. Henderson blames the English rugby team players who recently attended a dwarf-tossing contest during the rugby World Cup in New Zealand for inspiring the attack. The Daily Mail reports that he now faces life in a wheelchair after the incident. Henderson was recovering from a 2010 back injury but has said that this injury has set him back in his recuperation. He went on to tell The Daily Mail that he believes this will affect his acting career. “Every time I stand up I don’t know if I’m going to fall over. I will have to use a wheelchair and I won’t get any acting jobs,” said Henderson, who has appeared in U.K. TV series “10th Kingdom” and “Bigger Breakfast.” British authorities are currently looking for the man who assaulted Henderson. The incident occurred on October 7, but Henderson’s condition has reportedly worsened as the months have passed. He said that his legs became numb following the attack and that he now keeps falling over, even resulting in a recent fractured arm. “I guess I was an easy target and the only reason I was picked on was because I am small,” Henderson said in the interview. “People’s attitudes to me when I go out can be pretty cruel. Most are OK but you get the odd idiot who will make fun and start laughing at me. You just have to ignore it, but this is the first time I have been picked up and thrown about.” Both Dinklage and Henderson suffer from achondroplasia, which causes dwarfirsm. Dinklage was likely trying to raise awareness for a cause that’s close to his heart with the shout-out. First to start off, Justin is an amazing inspiration to everyone, not only has he inspired me in every single way but he also inspired a lot of people. Even if you’re a fan or not, it always good to give someone a chance. I never knew it was possible to see Justin twice, and get noticed by him 5 times on Twitter. To me, thats something I’ve never experienced in my life. Justin changed my life in so many ways. I’ve been a fan of his since summer of 2009, and still are to this day. So how my biggest experience started was when I went to w ent to NYC with my dad on November 26th, 2010. I begged my dad to see Justin, I thought it was my only chance so then we slept over NYC & the next day Justin had a book singing at Barners and Nobles. We woke up at 5am in the morning hoping that I could meet Justin, but the line was at least two blocks around to get in. There was only a few wristbands to get in, I didn’t give up. I waited in the rain, in the cold as so many fans would do to meet Justin. As time passed, my mom called me. She told me Justin was also going to be on the TODAY Show in a few minutes. The studio was just a block away, so we decided to go there. I ran as fast as I could. As closer as I got, I heard Justin’s voice having no idea where he was. I was yelling “ WHERE IS JUSTIN?!” All around, everyone looked at me like I was crazy, of course but I didn’t mind. Then I made a right to the studio until I saw him. JUSTIN DREW BIEBER IN FRONT OF MY EYES. I couldn’t even believe it myself. H e was at least 2 feet away from me. I freaked out, I screamed so much. I almost fainted, I couldn’t help myself . I’ve never seen him so close in my life . T he police told us to back off but we didn’t because we where near the window. I didn’t move at all, I wanted to stay there and see my hero in front of me. I waved and gave him the heart sign. Everyone was tying to get his attention. I got his eyes looking at me, he smiled at me. It might seem stupid for making a big deal when a superstar looks at you, but when you are the only girl standing there, it’s amazing to know its was YOU . I was the happiest day of my life. I came on the back running and screaming on the interview, if you look closely at the pic i posted above. At then end, I never met Justin at the book singing but I did almost get in. Ryan Good , yes Ryan Good his old swag coach was standing right in front of the store. No one realized him really but me and a few girls. I remembered I had a small letter written to Justin about everything and how much he has inspired me. I took a picture with Ryan and gave him my note , he was nice enough to not place the note anywhere but he put it inside his jacket pocket and said “I’ll put it right here, so I wont forget and give it to him.” Once more, I was the happiest girl ever. I know God did things for a reason, and I thank him everyday. I left NYC that night smiling going home. Never knowing all of this would happen, to this day I still wish to meet him. I haven’t gave up and never will. Dream big & NEVER SAY NEVER.
