D.A. on Dr. Conrad Murray Defense: Still Homicide!

To say the prosecutors in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case are unmoved by Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense theory would be an understatement. They don’t seem particularly worried about it, either. At the preliminary hearing, a doctor for the L.A. County Coroner’s Office testified that even if Michael Jackson injected himself with a fatal dose of Propofol, as Dr. Murray’s defense team claims, he is still guilty of homicide. Dr. Christopher Rogers believes Dr. Murray had no business administering Propofol outside a hospital setting and without appropriate equipment. Rogers said that given Michael Jackson’s dependence on Propofol – Murray calims Jackson begged for the drug – the fact that Murray left MJ by himself (which he admitted) with access to the powerful anesthetic constitutes a homicide. Well, talk about turning the tables on that theory. To make matters worse, a doctor for the L.A. County Coroner’s Office testified he doesn’t believe Dr. Murray only gave Michael Jackson 25 mg of Propofol. Without saying Murray lied to cops in his interview two days after MJ died, Rogers said Jackson would have awakened after 3-5 minutes after that dose. Rogers also testified he doesn’t think Jackson swallowed Propofol, another angle to a defense that Murray’s attorneys laid the groundwork for this week. Very small amounts of the drug were found in Jackson’s stomach, he said in the latest round of testimony to see if Murray will be tried for manslaughter . Rogers said he believes it’s inappropriate to use Propofol for insomnia and that Murray’s care was “substandard” any way you slice it. Your move, doc. Dr. Murray …

James Franco, Asked About Gay Roles, Says ‘Maybe I’m Just Gay’

‘There are lots of reasons to be interested in gay characters than wanting myself to have sex with guys,’ actor says. By Gil Kaufman James Franco Photo: Getty Images They’re the two questions actor James Franco hears almost every time he sits down for an interview: “Are you gay?” and “are you stoned?” The multi-hyphenate, perpetually heavy-lidded actor (who, for the record, denies that he’s a smoker) has aroused curiosity about his sexuality by playing a number of high-profile gay parts in movies such as “Milk,” “Howl” and his upcoming “The Broken Tower.” Franco, who has been in a relationship with actress Ahna O’Reilly for more than five years, has avoided the definitive denial/confirmation that other high-profile celebrities have made in the past when questioned about their sexual preferences. In a recent Entertainment Weekly cover story, though, he tackled the issue head-on and provided, well, clarity of a sort. “It’s funny because the way that kind of stuff is talked about on blogs is so black-and-white,” Franco said. “It’s all cut-and-dry identity politics. ‘Is he straight or is he gay?’ Or, ‘This is your third gay movie — come out already!’ And all based on gay or straight, based on the idea that your object of affection decides your sexuality.” The “127 Hours” star has spurred further talk about his bedroom politics with news that he’s planning to write the screenplay and direct a biopic about gay “Rebel Without a Cause” actor Sal Mineo. “There are lots of other reasons to be interested in gay characters than wanting myself to go out and have sex with guys,” he said about why he chooses the roles he does and why gay parts are often much meatier than other ones he’s offered. “I mean, I’ve played a gay man who’s living in the ’60s and ’70s, a gay man who we depicted in the ’50s, and one being in the ’20s. And those were all periods when to be gay, at least being gay in public, was much more difficult. Part of what I’m interested in is how these people who were living anti-normative lifestyles contended with opposition.” But, ever the provocateur, the sometime “General Hospital” guest star, painter, author and Ph.D. student ended the interview with another explanation for why he might be choosing all these homosexual roles. “You know what, maybe I’m just gay.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Paramore Say ‘Majority’ Of Brand New Eyes Is About Josh Farro

Watch the full interview on ‘Paramore: The Last Word,’ live on MTV.com Friday at 4 p.m. ET. By James Montgomery Paramore Photo: MTV News FRANKLIN, Tennessee — In his “Exit Statement” from Paramore , Josh Farro made one thing abundantly clear: There was a lot more going on behind the scenes than most fans were aware of. Of course, in their interview with MTV News — which you can see more of in Paramore: The Last Word,” a live stream on MTV.com on Friday at 4 p.m. ET — the remaining members of the band addressed most of his charges (not surprisingly, they don’t agree with most of them), but in kicking up all that dust, Farro may have unwittingly also revealed the biggest secret of all: that the majority of the songs on Paramore’s 2009 Brand New Eyes album were about him. Up until he released his statement, most fans assumed that the lyrics on songs like “Playing God” (“It has to be so lonely/ To be the only one who’s only”) and “Ignorance” (“Where’s your gavel, your jury/ What’s my offense this time?”) were Hayley Williams’ way of telling off nameless naysayers and faceless detractors. But now, it’s pretty apparent that they deal almost exclusively with her relationship with Farro — and if you’re still not sold on that point, well, she’ll tell you herself. “I would say that a large majority of those songs, yes, have to do with the relationship we had and then that we had to mend,” she said. “And it was really hard, because we were all friends, and then going through a breakup and going through any kind of tension as a band really affected all the lyrics. … There are a lot of specifics that I pulled from my experience with just feeling like my face was underneath a boot all the time. “I think the point of the album was never to point out those things, but hopefully to encourage people who feel that way,” she continued. “Because I felt so alone in that fight, that I would never want, especially another young woman, to feel that way, because I know there are a lot of girls I’ve talked to, fans, go through the same thing in relationships and families, and it just sucks to feel kind of victimized.” And she didn’t stop there, either, but you’re going to have to wait for the “Last Word” live stream to hear the rest. And speaking of that live stream, we’d love to include your voice in the show, and judging by the sheer volume of comments our stories have gotten, you have plenty to say. You can upload videos to to or tweet your take @MTVNews, and we might just use it Friday. MTV News will be unveiling our exclusive interview with Paramore on Friday at 4 p.m. ET with “Paramore: The Last Word,” a live stream on MTV.com that will feature in-depth analysis of the band’s future, real-time discussion with their biggest fans and exclusive footage of the band, past and present. Kelsey Grammer Hollas: Need No Prenup, Yeah!

Kelsey Grammer is ignoring the advice Kanye West offered all men in “Gold Digger.” Despite the fact that the actor might be on the hook for $50 million to ex-wife Camille, a friend tells Pop Eater he won’t force new fiancee Kayte Walsh to sign a prenuptial agreement. “Kelsey is deeply in love with Kayte and can’t imagine spending the rest of his life with any other woman in the world,” the source says . “He knows she’s the one and wouldn’t insult her by asking her to sign a pre-nup.” Perhaps Grammer really is in love after all. This insider certainly backs up the star’s claim of that being the case. “Kelsey doesn’t care about the money. He never has. This is about being happy. Finding someone who is your best friend. He doesn’t want to wait any longer.”

JWoww on Jersey Shore Season 3: Crazy Drama!

JWoww promises plenty of drama when Jersey Shore returns for Season 3 next week. We’re inclined to believe the fake-breasted, hot-headed star. Frequent sparring partner Angelina Pivarnick may be gone, but according JWoww (Jenni Farley), tears and tirades are still to come on the MTV hit. “There’s a whole lot of drama!” JWoww said, admitting that she is at the center of much of the action herself, thanks to her split with Tom Lippolis . BUSTIN’ OUT : JWoww is so ready to this season. “You will see that I go through a bad breakup, and I find new love,” Jenni says . “Everyone finally gets to see my side. I come out of my shell.” JWoww’s pissed off ex publicly accused her of cheating – and cheating her out of royalties – last summer, but the starlet is hardly heartbroken. Instead, she’s turning her misadventures in love into the third season of her hit show, along with a dating advice book to be released next year. At least she has Sammi Giancola to take out her frustrations on. Watch JWoww get into it with her roomie in the Jersey Shore Season 3 trailer !
