Only in Florida … Via Gainesville reports: Hubert Wayne Simmons thought that if he told the police officer who stopped him after a 100-mph chase that he had meth in his pocket, he wouldn’t charge him with it. He was wrong. Simmons, 50, of 1448 SE Adams St., High Springs, was headed east in the 300 block of Northeast Santa Fe Boulevard in High Springs around 3 a.m. when High Springs Police Officer Ethan Presnell pulled behind the Chevy pickup. Simmons began speeding up, and the officer started to chase him at around 100 mph without closing ground, according to the police report. Simmons turned south onto Northwest 202nd Street still at speeds topping 90 mph before he finally stopped. Presnell pulled him from the truck at gunpoint, the report said. Simmons first told Presnell he didn’t realize that the officer was behind him, then said he tried to get away because he was afraid he would violate his probation since his truck had an expired tag. In the patrol car, Simmons told the officer that he had meth in his pocket but that it might have fallen out. He said he thought that if he was honest about it, the officer would not charge him. Presnell found a plastic bag with 1 gram of meth, and Simmons was arrested on charges of fleeing a police officer — and possession of a controlled substance. Here’s the model and former DWTS legend in the West Village in New York City: Kate Upton, Maksim Chmerkovskiy Amid rumors going around this summer that Kate Upton and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were an item, the pair were spotted in July on a secretive dinner date. Looks like that date turned into something more. Or at least some more dates! Chmerkovskiy, 33, did not return to DWTS for the first time in 13 seasons. It may have taken another altercation with the paparazzi to get there, but Kanye West has landed in Paris. And photos of the rapper alongside baby mama Kim Kardashian make it look like he’s left all problems back in the United States. Kanye, of course, was held up leaving for the airport yesterday when he got into a big-time argument with a reporter who harassed him on the artist’s driveway. But West remained relatively calm and has since filed charges against the paparazzo for trespassing on his Hollywood Hills property. This confrontation came on the heels of West going after Jimmy Kimmel on Twitter after that comedian mocked the singer’s recent interview with BBC Radio. So it’s been a long few days for West, who left his daughter at home to spent time alone overseas with Kardashian.
