French prosecutors have launched an investigation after a video showing a police officer beating a black woman with a baton and spraying tear gas directly into her face sparked outrage. Interior Minister Manuel Valls said Tuesday that prosecutors in the central city of Tours had ordered the IGPN police internal affairs branch to investigate after the video, called “Shame on the French police”, was posted on the Internet on Sunday. “An investigation has been opened. The matter has been referred to the IGPN,” Valls said. “We need the whole truth and full transparency… The police must be irreproachable, the vast majority of police officers carry out difficult and remarkable work.” youtube http://news.asiaone.com/

Controversial Teen Mom cast member turned adult film star Farrah Abraham is being wooed by ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, reports indicate. The official cast announcement is scheduled for early month, and an insider listed Farrah as one of many celebs producers are trying to score. We thought this was a fake, albeit hilarious report at first, but it looks like they’ve at least made overtures. Whether she accepts is another story. It’s hard to imagine Farrah Abraham of all people turning DWTS down, too. Especially with the “millionaire” begging for gifts on Amazon now. Others reportedly being asked to do the show this fall: John Stamos Jason Varitek Paula Deen Tan Mom Bella Thorne Seth MacFarlane “They are hoping for confirmations soon, but it’s coming down to the last minute,” says an insider, adding that “none of these people are definites.” “They have been asked and it’s in their hands,” however. In Farrah Abraham’s case, participating in DWTS would be an understandable career move – good money, better PR – and maybe even a humbling one. Can you imagine pairing her up with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and some of the heated arguments that would result from the very first rehearsal? Ratings. Gold.

Giada De Laurentiis’ Tasty Cupcakes
All due respect to Mario Batali, but when it comes to celebrity chefs, the only one I’d want to cook for me is Giada De Laurentiis . Not because I think her food looks any good, but because I’d enjoy watching her make it more than eating it. I’d just want to make sure the recipe called for a lot of vigorous stirring and bending to put things in the oven. Anyway, apparently it was Giada’s birthday on Thursday, which explains the cupcake.
