J.R. just can’t keep his nose clean… J.R. Smith Suspended For 5 Games For Violating NBA Substance Abuse Policy Via ESPN Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, the league announced Friday. Smith is recovering from offseason knee surgery and might not be ready for the beginning of the regular season. The NBA says Smith’s suspension will begin with the first game of the season for which he is eligible and physically able to play. The Knicks re-signed Smith in July to a three-year contract worth approximately $18 million with a player option for the third year. Shortly after he re-signed, Smith underwent patellar tendon surgery and an arthroscopy for a tear in the lateral meniscus of his left knee. He is expected to miss between two to six weeks of the regular season, according to a timetable provided by the team. S-M-H The NBA declined to comment specifically about the manner in which Smith violated its Anti-Drug Program. According to a summary of the program provided by the league, a third positive test for marijuana results in a suspension that is “five games longer than the player’s immediately-preceding marijuana suspension.” That is the sole scenario under which a five-game ban is administered. Friday’s suspension was Smith’s first under the Anti-Drug program, although he’s been suspended several times during his nine-year career for other infractions. He was suspended seven games in 2009 for his role in a crash that killed a passenger in his car in 2007 and resulted in a 90-day prison sentence. Smith was also suspended 10 games for his involvement in the Denver Nuggets-Knicks brawl in 2006. More recently, Smith was banned for Game 4 of the Knicks-Celtics first round playoff series in 2013 after he elbowed Jason Terry in the previous game. It is unclear at this point if Smith will appeal this most recent suspension. Hopefully J.R. wasn’t out kickin’ with Lamar Odom . Image via AP
Say word La ? You out here eatin’ with the competition? All jokes aside, the new issue of GQ features a story on the owner of BOSSIP’s shady competition (hell yeah we said it) that includes his involvement in the whole Honey Nut Cheerios debacle. Check out an excerpt below via GQ : He tells La La that the same anonymous source who approached the Daily News, peddling the Cheerios rumor, had approached him first. “I didn’t believe that isht,” he explains. Fred doesn’t know much more than that about where the rumor came from. Which is okay, because it turns out La La has a second, more important question that Fred does know the answer to. She doesn’t really care about Honey Nut Cheerios. The cereal was a pretext. What she really wants to know is: Has Fred heard about anything involving Melo and women who are not named La La Anthony? Tabloid stories have a way of begetting more tabloid stories. Groupies, girls, that kind of thing—just look at Tiger Woods, whoseone VIP hostess quickly turned into a dozen after news of his infidelities went public. Once she’s on the front page ofthe Daily News next to a stranger’s quote about her vajayjay, La La says, “that’s when people feel like, ‘That’s my chance to start something up or to make something up.’ ” Fred nods sympathetically. On this subject, he says, he can help: “No bullisht came out.” “Good,” La La says, as somewhere far away from here a chill shoots down the spine of the NBA’s reigning scoring champion. “Because I’ll cut a motherf***er’s d*** off okay? And that’ll be the next story.” Well damn… That must be the fiesty Rican side coming out. To read more from the story that mentions us as well, visit GQ HERE .
Alexander Bradley, the man who claims that Aaron Hernandez shot him in the face earlier this year, has been ordered to appear before a grand jury. This is separate from the murder of Olin Lloyd, for which Hernandez is charged, and a 2012 Boston double homicide in which he is a person of interest. Bradley has been ordered by a judge in Massachusetts to testify before a grand jury later this month; it’s unclear if police are trying establish any link. He is scheduled to appear July 17. Bradley had been actively fighting the interstate subpoena, claiming that he required medical treatment in Florida. The judge ruled that the travel “will not cause undue hardship” for Bradley, who “is a material and necessary witness” in the investigation of Hernandez. Bradley sued Hernandez in June, before Lloyd’s murder, claiming Aaron Hernandez shot him in the face following an altercation at a Miami strip club. He never identified the New England Patriots tight end as the assailant when speaking to police, and only directly accused him in his recent lawsuit. The former NFL star is facing a first-degree murder charge in the slaying of his friend/acquaintance and is being investigated in a drive-by last summer. Officials suspect his motive may have been to keep Odin Lloyd quiet about his involvement in the earlier murder(s), though that remains just a theory.
The saga of the Farrah Abraham porn video continues as she reportedly shops around for the best deal, despite claiming it was made purely for posterity. Yes … she really said that. After initially denying it existed at all, then trying to pass the Farrah Abraham porn off as a “sex tape,” the Teen Mom star finally conceded that it’s real. She still claimed somehow that it was a tape that’s just for her, to commemorate her 21-year-old hotness … though she’d also sell it for a few million. Well, turns out she’s actively trying to do that. Here’s what we know about the Abraham- James Deen video, courtesy of a source close to the situation: Despite her meeting with Vivid and Steve Hirsch’s professed interest in the Farrah Abraham sex tape , they haven’t acquired it yet. She’s in talks with PornHub (dot) com now. She’s unlikely to get anywhere near the $2 million she wants, as “she isn’t a celebrity per se” and the element of surprise is also gone. Farrah is more in the Octomom porn range, it seems. She received an offer of $100K in an open letter from BangYouLater (dot) com. Her publicist(s) really dropped the ball, as they knew about Abraham and Deen’s meeting with Vivid, which of course leaked to the press. Any notion that the tape is just for personal use is laughable, given the involvement of James Deen, who’s already an industry legend. Negotiations with PornHub are ongoing, but it remains to be seen how much is being offered or how desperate she is. When we know more, you will. Story developing …
Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is very sorry – and, apparently, very skilled at sounding like a woman over the phone. The young, troubled man behind the Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax appeared yesterday on Dr. Phil and, after insisting he stand behind a curtain for a sense of privacy, performed for viewers the voice he used as Lenny Kekua in this drawn-out scheme to fool the linebacker. Experts on the show said the voices were a match. Watch/listen now: Ronaiah Tuiasosopo: Lennay Kekua Voice Tuiasosopo also said he “hurts every day” for the choices he made and added: “I can’t express how sorry I am towards Manti and his family and everyone affected by this. “I came here to own up to my involvement in what I’ve done. I am not seeking everyone’s forgiveness… I stand with courage to say I’m very sorry.”
Under a bit of fire for dinning a Confederate Flag earpiece during a nationally televised Christmas special this week, country star Trace Adkins has issued a statement. Trace Adkins – “The Christmas Song” Entertaining troops as part of a Japan-based USO tour, Adkins posted the following on his website yesterday: “As a proud American I object to oppression of any kind. To me, the battle flag represents remembrance of my Southern lineage – I am a descendant of Confederate soldiers who followed that flag into battle. “To those who view the flag as a symbol of racism, that was not my message and I did not intend offense.” Seems pretty reasonable and simple, no? What do you think of Adkins wearing that earpiece? Totally inappropriate! Totally fine, it’s his decision! Fantastic, wish the South had won! Who cares?!? View Poll »
An obese death row inmate trying to delay his execution because he is overweight is now raising an innocence claim as well, according to the Ohio Parole Board. Ronald Post, who weighs over 400 pounds, is asking the courts to stop his January execution because weight could cause him to suffer severe pain during it. Obese Death Row Inmate Ronald Post Seeks Stay of Execution Post has also wants to delay his execution on the grounds that his alleged confession to several people was exaggerated … might as well try every angle. He told the parole board on November 20 that another man shot hotel desk clerk Helen Vantz in Elyria in 1983, Lorain County Prosecutor Dennis Will said. Post said he was “complicit in the robbery” but didn’t enter the hotel personally. Will called the allegation a “brand new claim” that isn’t backed up by the facts. He said Ronald Post took responsibility when he pleaded no contest in 1984. Will said the board “should consider Post’s written admission, made in open court, that he, and he alone, was responsible for the crimes against Helen Vantz.” Post’s lawyer denied there was anything new about his client’s comments. Post, without explaining his role in the crime, apologized for his involvement in Vantz’ death. Post entered a no contest plea and was not tried.
