During an appearance on Kathy Griffin’s new Bravo talk show “Kathy” Thursday night, the silver-haired news anchor recalled a story about his recent run-in with a sneaky fan during a 6 a.m. flight this week. Cooper, 45, said he was trying to get some rest aboard the New York-to-Los Angeles flight when he noticed the man seated in front of him trying to snap some photos of Cooper using his iPhone’s front-facing camera. “I’m sitting there incredulous that he thinks I don’t see him … and he’s still taking the pictures,” Cooper said. “Normally I would just be like, ‘We’re not going to win this one,’ but I’ve lately become emboldened.” In a surprising twist, Cooper said Olympic figure skating champion Johnny Weir was coincidently sitting next to him on the flight. “I grab the guy on the shoulder, and I said something to the effect of, ‘B—h, what the f— are you doing?’” Cooper said to a shocked Griffin. Despite his burst of boldness, the CNN anchor seemed embarrassed by his surprising reaction. “It was one of those things, as soon as I said it, I was like, ‘I can’t believe I said this to this guy,’” he concluded. The Choice, Fox’s new dating show with thematic elements similar to The Voice, has cast a variety of singers, actors, models and reality stars galore. Joe Jonas, Dean Cain, Tyson Beckford, Taylor Hicks, Jersey Shore ‘s Pauly D and The Situation, Rob Kardashian and other dudes will compete for love. The Choice’s female celebrities include Miss USA wild child Rima Fakih, actress Carmen Electra and models Hope Dworaczyk and Sophie Monk. As hinted in The Choice promo , four stars sit in spinning chairs with their backs to a group of non-famous prospective dates, who pitch themselves. Over the course of three rounds, the contestant pool is pared down until each celeb has chosen their date for the evening. Sounds easy enough. Although none of the celebrities on the show bombed with the contestants, Jonas, Cain and Beckford were particularly sought after, apparently. Five of the episodes on the show, which premieres June 7, will feature the male celebrities, while one episode puts women in the power seats. Apple has filed patents involving carbon fiber, which could also provide more strength to the phone’s body and a potential new added benefit: color. Durability! Apple acquired rights to use a product from a company called Liquid Metal Technologies, which could offer the frame more elastic properties. In other words, your piece will break less easily when you drop it on the street. Bigger Design : Many new Android phones sport 4-4.5 inch screens, so Apple is feeling the pressure to increase screen size from its current 3.5. Rumors also project a 20 percent thinner iPhone 5, decreasing from the 9.3mm iPhone 4S to a sleeker 7.4mm, plus a new dock connector. Processor : The new iPad sported the faster A5X processor, some predict an even faster A6 processor with a gig of RAM in the new iPhone. The inclusion of LTE, a faster processor and a bigger screen all mean a greater drain on the battery, which would likely be addressed as well. Timing : Every year Apple hosts a developer conference in San Francisco in June, however, analysts are betting on October for a new release. Steve Jobs hologram : Too soon? Sorry. Looks like there may be a few bugs in the newest version of the iOS. People have complained that Siri rarely does what you actually want and that she can have a difficult time with nuances of different languages. We had no idea Siri was a closet racist, however, until just now. In a parody from Funny or Die, the virtual iPhone assistant offers advice to an African-American gentleman based solely on racial stereotypes. Time’s are tough, but it can NOT be this serious : Authorities have indicted five people in central China for involvement in illegal organ trading after a teenager sold one of his kidneys to buy an iPhone and an iPad. Prosecutors in the city of Chenzhou charged the suspects with intentional injury for organizing the removal and transplant of a kidney from a 17-year-old high school student surnamed Wang, the official Xinhua News Agency said late Friday. Xinhua described one of the defendants named He Wei as being broke and frustrated over gambling debts. It said he asked another defendant to look for organ donors in online chat rooms and someone else to lease an operating room for the transplant, which took place in April last year. He received 220,000 yuan ($35,000) for the transplant, gave the student 22,000 yuan ($3,500) and shared the remaining money with the other defendants and several medical staff involved in the operation, Xinhua said. When the student returned home, he was asked how he could afford a new iPhone and an iPad and he told his mother that he sold one of his kidneys, the report said. The Southern Daily newspaper reported last month that other individuals have sold, or seriously considered selling, their kidneys to earn money for reasons that included paying off large debts, making a payment on a smartphone, or paying for an abortion for a girlfriend. “Without facing complete hardship, these young people born after the 1990s made rash decisions. In the choice between their bodies and materialism, they resolutely chose the latter,” the official Communist Party newspaper Guangming Daily said in an editorial late last month about the Southern Daily report. “In today’s society where desires are infinite and demands are boundless … blindly competing with others in the pursuit of high-end ‘technology’ will gradually ruin lives,” it said.
