Ewan McGregor Revives Don Quixote

When last we checked in on Terry Gilliam’s oft-besieged passion project, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote , the already-cast Robert Duvall told us that Gilliam was looking for another name actor, since “the Irish guy who was in Crazy Heart turned him down.” (That’d be Colin Farrell.) Good news: Gilliam’s locked in Ewan McGregor. The film will shoot this September, and we’ll all keep our fingers very, very crossed. [ Empire ]

London To Remain Open Despite Volcanic Ash

Aviation officials closed airports in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday due to a drifting, dense cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland. All airports in Northern Ireland shut down at 1 p.m. (1200 GMT; 8 a.m. EDT), along with others in northern England — including Manchester and Liverpool — as well as Prestwick in Scotland, the National Air Traffic Service said. Airports in London — including Heathrow, Europe’s busiest — were staying open for now. British and Irish aviation authorities could not say when or if other airports would have to close but expected London’s airports to remain open until at least 7 p.m. (1800 GMT; 2 p.m. EDT) and Shannon, in western Ireland, to be open until 11 p.m. (2200 GMT; 6 p.m. EDT). Dublin was expected to stay open until at least early Monday. The German Aerospace Center sent up a test flight Sunday to measure the ash concentration, and the country’s air traffic control said flights in Germany would not be affected by volcanic ash before Wednesday. Ash can clog jet engines. The April 14 eruption at Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokul volcano forced most countries in northern Europe to shut their air spaces April 15-20, grounding an estimated 10 million travelers worldwide and costing airlines over $2 billion. In southern Iceland, activity at the volcano was fluctuated throughout the day but had not particularly intensified, civil protection official Agust Gunnar Gylfason said Sunday. He blamed the closures on shifting winds. “What really changes the situation is the weather pattern,” he said. The Icelandic Meteorological Office said “presently there are no indications that the eruption is about to end.” “No major changes are seen in the activity, the ash cloud is slightly higher than yesterday,” the agency said. Airlines complained bitterly over the air space closures last month, calling them an overreaction. The European air safety agency last week proposed drastically narrowing the continent’s no-fly zone due to volcanic ash to 120 miles (190 kilometers) like the one used in the United States. The proposal still must be approved. In other news, the England vs Australia live stream is about to start and British cricket fans are priming up to watch the ICC T20 Finals. “We met on the set, and we were very professional and focused on our part and our jobs,” said the Mexican-born, Polish actress Bachleda, 26. “The story itself is so beautiful … we really didn#39;t have time to get our true emotions [on screen].” For the Dublin-born Farrell, 33, the hardest part of his role didn#39;t come from a blossoming relationship, but from having to master a particular Irish dialect – “one of the hardest accents I had to do, because I felt a national obligation not to [muc
