Guitar player Phil Chevron of the Pogues has passed away at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer, the band said in a statement Tuesday. Chevron (real name was Philip Ryan) was a core member of the Anglo-Irish folk-punk group that made its international name in the 1980s and early 1990s. “He was unique. We’ll miss him terribly. Dublin town, and the world, just got smaller,” the Pogues said in a statement on their website earlier today. “His loved ones are in our thoughts.” Chevron, who was born in Dublin, started out with the Irish act The Radiators From Space, which has been described as Ireland’s first punk band. He moved to London where he joined the Pogues, fronted by fellow Irishman Shane MacGowan. He played banjo and mandolin and sang as well. Chevron stayed with the Pogues after MacGowan left in 1991 and was replaced by Joe Strummer, ex-frontman of The Clash. The band split up in 1996. He later reformed the Radiators with ex-Pogues bassist Cait O’Riordan. When the Pogues reformed in 2001 and interest in them revived, Chevron remastered the band’s back catalogue on CD and took a big role in their reunion tours. He was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in 2007 and was given a clean bill of health in April 2012 but the cancer returned. May he rest in peace.
Now we’re convinced Miley Cyrus has lost it. Miley Cyrus Compares Sinead O’Connor To Amanda Bynes Sinead may have tried to commit suicide and can get crazy at times, but she has done more for music than Miley and her twerking ever did. According to US Magazine Miley Cyrus is giving Sinead O’Connor a taste of her own medicine. Just hours after O’Connor, 46, penned a lengthy open letter to Cyrus about her outlandish behavior and how’s she’s apparently prostituting herself, the “We Can’t Stop” singer shared a photo of O’Connor’s 1992 infamous moment when she ripped a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live. “#SNL,” Cyrus simply wrote alongside the photo on Thursday, Oct. 3. Top top it off, Cyrus, 20, also compared O’Connor to none other than Amanda Bynes. “Before Amanda Bynes…. There was…” the Bangerz star wrote. Alongside the comment, Cyrus posted a screenshot of tweets from O’Connor’s old Twitter account from two years ago. Some of the tweets included the Irish singer trying to find a psychiatrist in Ireland who could “urgently” see her as soon as possible. (Bynes’ parents gave an update on their 27-year-old daughter on Sept. 30 that she’s “making great strides towards recovery” since moving to celebrity rehab center The Canyon in Malibu three weeks ago.) One of these days someone is going to Rihanna check Miley. Hit the flip for Miley’s tweets.
All of a sudden, the bus isn’t looking so bad…. Report Shows Airlines Made $27 Billion In Customer Fees In 2012 Ever wonder just how much money the airline industry is banking from robbing customers with sky-high baggage, food, booking and other fees? Bet you would have never guessed that the total was $27 billion…. via NBC News From paying for checked luggage and early boarding to extra legroom and on-board snacks, travelers know flying these days means never closing your wallet. Now, there’s more proof. Carriers around the world collected more than $27 billion last year in fees and other non-fare revenue, which has become “a crucial component of airline income,” a new report finds. The figure represents a 20 percent jump over 2011. “Every year, key numbers are getting larger. The most aggressive airlines easily generate more than 20 percent of their revenue from a la carte fees,” according to the report by IdeaWorks. The study was sponsored by CarTrawler, an Irish company that provides online car rental distribution systems. “Once largely limited to low fare airlines, ancillary revenue has now become a financial necessity for airlines all over the globe.” United Airlines was tops among carriers in the total amount of non-fare revenue collected last year, followed by Delta, American and Southwest, the study found. Ultra-low cost carrier Spirit Airlines collected the most as a percentage of its total income, with fees and other extras making up 38.5 percent of its revenue pie. The report analyzed financial information from 53 airlines that disclose their ancillary revenue, which includes the much-hated fees for services such as checked bags, priority check-in and assigned seats. “This is $27 billion of deception,” said Charlie Leocha, director of the Consumer Travel Alliance, adding all those extra charges are making it harder for fliers to know and compare the true cost of tickets at the time of booking. We already knew these airlines were getting away with murder in terms of how much they charge passengers in fees, but $27 BILLION?!? C’mon son. Shutterstock Continue reading →
Bill O’Reilly ripped both Chris Matthews and MSNBC on Thursday after Matthews dubiously remarked that Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has a “black Irish look.” Matthews used the term, which refers to Irish people with dark features, while railing against Cruz … and Pat Buchanan, Joseph McCarthy and O’Reilly. He said they all look alike. O’Reilly was not happy. Bill O’Reilly Slams Chris Matthews “In addition to being misguided politically, Mr. Matthews also apparently needs glasses, badly,” O’Reilly said, calling it a “desperate attempt to get attention.” The reason, O’Reilly said, is MSNBC’s ratings. “In the last six months, it’s all fallen apart for MSNBC,” he alleged. “They’re in a desperate situation right now.” O’Reilly said that the network was previously a “campaign headquarters for the president,” but “that’s vanishing now” due to Obama administration scandals . Revelations about NSA surveillance programs , DOJ investigations of journalists and IRS’ targeting of conservative groups have roiled the White House. MSNBC is “covering anything other than that, because they don’t know what to say,” O’Reilly claimed on Thursday, with no small measure of glee. MSNBC delivered woeful ratings in May, landing in fourth place behind Fox News, CNN and HLN, which saw a spike from the Jodi Arias murder trial. The network saw its lowest primetime numbers since 2009.
First of all I never ever thought I would be sitting here writing a Bieber Experience because I never thought I would have one. I always sat at home reading other beliebers stories about meeting Justin and I always had tears in my eyes. It all started on the 9th of August 2012 when Justin announced the Believe tour. Everyone was in shock because we thought Justin forgot about Ireland, but he didn’t. I spent the next 5 days with the worst pain in my stomach. It was a nervous pain because I was terrified that I wouldn’t get tickets, but I had a little bit of hope. On the 14th of August when the BieberFever pre-sale started, my friends and I got standing tickets! We were all in so much shock because we didn’t even expect to get any tickets to begin with. A few days later on the 16th of August Justin announced a second date! The tickets sold out for both nights very fast. As the time went on, it was getting closer and closer to February. Then on the 13th of February 2013, there was rumors that Scrappy and a few others from the Bieber crew were scheduled to land in Dublin the next day. My friends and I decided to go to look for them! The next day (the 14th of February) we spent the whole day looking for Scrappy and his wife Dana, but no luck. When I got home I cried so much. I gave up. If I couldn’t even meet Scrappy, how was I ever going to meet Justin? The next day my friends and I went out even earlier at 6 a.m. to find them and we were determined. We went back to the 02 and there were about 7 trucks outside. We stayed there for a few more hours and then I saw Scrappy! The next day (day before the concert) I got up so early and went to the O2. The trucks were still there, but this time they were doing the sound check of Justin’s songs. I could hear ‘All around the world,’and Justin’s voice – even though he wasn’t there. I started bawling. I really couldn’t believe I was going to see Justin in less then 24 hours. A couple hours past and then a man came over to me and my friends and asked us could he take photos of us for his newspaper. We didn’t know if he was really a editor or just a weirdo so we ignored him. Then he showed us a picture of him meeting Justin and we all started screaming and crying. He interviewed us and took pictures. We were holding Irish flags and signs. Later on that night (at about 6:30 p.m.) my friends and I started camping outside the arena because it was first come first serve, and we really wanted to get near the stage. At around 1 a.m. Scrappy came out of his hotel to talk to us with Justin’s security Lisa! They were so nice and told us to be safe and ignore the boys who were being rude. They also told us that we were going to get REALLY close to the stage. Later Scrappy tweeted, “Shoutout to the girls waiting in front of the venue right now, don’t let those boys bother you!” Then it was THE DAY OF THE CONCERT! I burst into tears because I’d been waiting to see Justin for two years, and it was finally going to happen. Then DJ Tay James walked by us and I screamed, “WE KNOW THE DJ!” and he smiled and pointed to me! When we got inside I sprinted to that stage like there was no tomorrow and I GOT FIRST ROW. When the timer hit 0.00 my heart stopped. Everyone waited for Justin to come out on the wings, but he didn’t. Instead Justin came out from the end of the stage on a platform wearing a cape. The show was beyond amazing! During ‘Beauty and a Beat’ Justin touched both my hands and during ‘Out of Town Girl’ Justin filmed me and I was on the screen! Everything about that day was beyond perfect. When I got home I checked my emails no expected to see any mail but I had one from BieberFever saying that I had won a meet and greet! I was thinking to myself, this cannot be happening. I ran to my cousin in the bathroom and fell on the floor and burst out crying and so did she. That night I did not sleep at all. I was trying to imagine walking into that room and seeing him standing there. The next day at 4 p..m. I went to the arena to get my meet and greet bands. When the women opened the envelope with my wristbands in it I cried. We waited in line for 3 hours and then Dan Kanter and Kenny along with the dancers came out and took pictures with us! They were all so nice. They line started moving and it was finally time for me to meet Justin. The man opened the curtain and I ran in. At first I couldn’t see Justin because Dustin was standing in front of him, but when he moved and I saw Justin standing there with his hands crossed, I actually stopped breathing. He looked too good to be true. I ran out of the room crying but then Justin called me and my cousin back and said, “Come back guys you’re gonna miss the photo!” I never smiled so much in my life. When the photo was over, security dragged me out of the room but I screamed, “Justin can I please have a hug?” and he said “Sure!” But the security said, “Time to go,” and that was that. To be so close to Justin was the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life. To say that I’ve met Justin is crazy and to have a picture with him??? That doesn’t even seem real. The concerts were both phenomenal and Justin was so nice. No one will ever understand how grateful I am to have had that experience, and even if the M&G was literally 10 seconds, I still got to meet my idol and no one will ever take that feeling from me. I love you Justin. -@amylovesjustinx Follow this link: First of all I never ever thought I would be sitting here…
So remember last week when I introduced you to hot Irish nobody Hazel O’Sullivan ? Well, she must’ve liked the Tuna attention, because she’s back with an even better set of pictures. Today’s cleavage is brought to you by some Dublin bar that wants to promote their “Leave Your Tie At The Door” nights. And as long as Hazel agrees to leave her top at the door too, I don’t think they’ll have any problem packing them in. I’ll be on the next flight out. Enjoy. » view all 14 photos Related Articles: Meet Busty Nobody Hazel O’Sullivan Photos: WENN.com

Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is very sorry – and, apparently, very skilled at sounding like a woman over the phone. The young, troubled man behind the Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax appeared yesterday on Dr. Phil and, after insisting he stand behind a curtain for a sense of privacy, performed for viewers the voice he used as Lenny Kekua in this drawn-out scheme to fool the linebacker. Experts on the show said the voices were a match. Watch/listen now: Ronaiah Tuiasosopo: Lennay Kekua Voice Tuiasosopo also said he “hurts every day” for the choices he made and added: “I can’t express how sorry I am towards Manti and his family and everyone affected by this. “I came here to own up to my involvement in what I’ve done. I am not seeking everyone’s forgiveness… I stand with courage to say I’m very sorry.”
In a surprising and unsettling statement, Burger King admits to horse meat possibly tainting burgers sold in both the U.K. and Ireland recently. It’s just the latest chapter in an ongoing scandal in the two nations involving beef burger patties allegedly containing meat from horses and pigs. It’s suspected that a meat distributor in Poland, which works with Burger King and other supermarket chains, used meats other than beef as filler in cheap burgers. Burger King had originally stressed, in the face of the scandal, that its patties are made with 100 percent beef, a claim that was apparently disproved. However, BK later dropped Silvercrest, the food processing plant that received meat from the Polish distributor, all but confirming the horse meat scandal. The Guardian has a statement from Burger King stating: “Our independent DNA test results on product taken from restaurants were negative for any equine DNA. “However, four samples recently taken from the Silvercrest plant have shown the presence of very small trace levels of equine DNA.” “Within the last 36 hours, we have established that Silvercrest used a small percentage of beef imported from a non-approved supplier in Poland.” “They promised to deliver 100% British and Irish beef patties and have not done so. This is a clear violation of our specifications, and we have terminated our relationship with them.” In other words, there is no evidence proving that Burger King ever served horsemeat, but the company admits that some of its locations may have inadvertently done so. Additionally, UK officials have stressed that the horsemeat-tainted burgers do not pose a health risk to consumers, but still, not exactly positive PR. When you go to BK, you’re probably not craving a horse burger. Kinda makes you wanna stay home and just make a king ranch chicken recipe instead.
