Atlanta Hawks Have Another Racial Blunder, Thanks To GM Wes Wilcox SMH. Y’all remember when former GM Danny Ferry got the Atlanta Hawks all fawked up making racial comments about Luol Deng ? And then the situation got worse when former owner Bruce Levenson’s comments about white fans vs. black fans were revealed? Well now Hawks GM Wes Wilcox is apologizing for making light of the angry black woman stereotype by using his OWN HOUSEHOLD as the example. The comments were made during a “Chalk Talk” event for 200 season ticket holders and club members before the December 7 Miami Heat game when season ticket holder Clarenton Crawford offered to renew for two more seasons if the Hawks were to fire coach Mike Budenholzer and hire Mark Jackson. Other fans spoke up about the need for a veteran point guard and another complained about the Hawks’ best players getting less playing time. According to Deadspin , Crawford and another source who was present said that Wilcox, who is white, tried to diffuse the tension with a joke: “I know you guys may be angry with me, but I’m used to it because I have a black wife and three mixed kids, so I’m used to people being angry and argumentative.” YIKES… Crawford penned an email to Hawks CEO Steve Koonin on Dec. 16 expressing how he and his wife were offended both by Wilcox’s remarks and his having turned to ask another white employee if his joke was okay. Wilcox quickly responded but Crawford wasn’t satisfied because the racial issue wasn’t addressed. Peep the correspondences below: In a statement released to Deadspin, Wilcox said, “At an early December chalk talk, I made a self-deprecating comment at my own expense regarding my family, which is multi-racial. This joke offended Mr. Crawford and his wife and for that, I apologize.” Soooo is that apology sufficient or not? In the meantime the Crawfords had a sit-down meeting earlier this week with Koonin and Hawks senior VP Nzinga Shaw, who was hired by the Hawks as the NBA’s first diversity officer following the Ferry and Levenson scandals. Tamar Braxton has left The Real a while back, but there has been very little information about what went down that paved the way for her departure. Basically, all we were told was that that she was planning on focusing on music. It is definitely plausible. She does have a beautiful voice that would be wasted on daytime forever. Yesterday, December 19, Tamar appeared as a guest on T.D Jakes and opened up about what made her depart the talk show. “That was just devastating to me because that was my baby. I loved it. I loved the women on the show. I loved showing up at work every single day. I loved interviewing other people because I’ve always been on the other side,” she explained to the audience. “That is something that definitely broke my heart, probably my spirit.” “But the good thing is I got a chance to pay attention to my spirit and that’s something I never really did before.” Moving on from a talk show she devoted so much time to will have been no easy task, but would she ever consider returning to the show? “I would have to really pray about it and think about it because at the end of the day I have to pay attention to why God removed me from that situation,” she shared. “I believe he removed me from that situation to protect me from that situation.” Leaving The Real was definitely a huge shock for fans of the show because until that point, the feud rumors never amounted to much. As is the norm, when someone leaves a big gig, there are always rumors of feuds and such. Tamar was very thankful about being part of the show. “I just learned that I have to take the good with the bad and I did learn that things are only for a season… I didn’t really learn that until now,” she explained. “That situation, the relationships that I built at that time, that was just for that season and I have to be grateful for that season and I am and I’m happy that I had the chance to be in that seat and situation, but I got to take the things that I learned in that season and move on with the rest of my life.” Watch Braxton Family Values Season 5 Episode 15 Online After the show aired, Tamar took to Instagram to reveal that it was time for all the feud rumors to stop and it was time to move on. The 11th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County has come to an end following Monday’s finale, but the drama is just beginning. Check out the trailer for next week’s reunion … The Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion Trailer: Season 11 Yeah. Suffice it to say, it looks beyond ugly. The reunion trailer begins with the calm before the storm, a behind-the-scenes look at the women getting ready to hit the Bravo stage. It belies, yet foreshadows what’s to come. “How’s it going? You ready for today?” Andy Cohen inquires, to which Shannon Beador calmly responds, “I’m gonna kick some ass.” That’s the mindset we’re talking about. Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 11 Episode 18 Online Not even five seconds later, the trailer cuts to Shannon telling Vicki Gunvalson, “You are despicable. I will never, ever speak to you again.” Berating is probably a better word. In her dressing room, Gunvalson reflected, “Not that I like to play the dirty game, but if you have to play it, you’ve got to play it strong.” Who is she kidding? She loves it. Vicki is not your average person when it comes to picking a fight. Scorched earth tactics have pretty much nothing on her. She will absolutely f–king savage you. If you take her on, you’re really asking for it, since she has no qualms about how she is perceived in the process of destroying opponents. None. “If you don’t like me, bye bye Felicia. Get off my show,” she tells Shannon, and when you’re the OG of the OC, you can kind of get away with it. Love her or hate her, Vicki isn’t wrong. She’s been there 11 years, or 10 more than Kelly Dodd, though both have been equally polarizing characters throughout this season. Then again, Kelly and Vicki were also the ones driving the show as a result. No offense to Tamra, Heather and Meghan, but let’s real. If you watch The Real Housewives of Orange County online , you know that Kelly doesn’t hold back or mince words in any way. Ever. Vicki and Kelly were the lifeblood of the series this fall, and as a result, they’re going to be in the crosshairs when the reunion comes ’round. This is just the way Bravo shows roll. She should be a force to be reckoned with on that reunion stage; Tamra Barney, and her newfound Christianity, on the other hand? Andy told Tamra, “Historically, the reunions bring out a very ugly side of you,” to which she replies, “I’m learning to use my words better.” We’ll believe that when we see it. The emotional high point, though, comes as Shannon tearfully states, “My husband did not beat me” and Vicki calmly says, “I have proof.” Wow. At that point, Shannon storms out. Just insane. The tension has been building for so long between these two that it was bound to boil over. Three installments may not be sufficient to cover all the s–t that’s about to go down.
