‘Glee’ Star Jane Lynch Says She ‘Terrorizes Everybody’ In New Season

‘There’s a lot of sexual blackmail,’ actress says of her character Sue Sylvester’s exploits. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim Jane Lynch at the “Glee” spring premiere on Monday Photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage The upcoming season of “Glee” is set to pay tributes to the work of Madonna and Lady Gaga , but fans are also excited to see just how the relationships will change when the latest episode premieres Tuesday (April 13). Jane Lynch, who plays the tough-as-nails gym teacher Sue Sylvester on the hit show, assured us that Sue will be back to her old, mean tricks. “She terrorizes everybody, still. She gets inappropriate with a bunch of guys. There’s a lot of sexual blackmail,” she told MTV News at the premiere party. “She does a little singing with Olivia Newton John. She gets put in her place in a very interesting, cruel ways by Mr. Will Schuester himself. He gets kind of rough with her and he really hurts her feelings.” This season fans of the show will also get to learn a bit more about why Sue acts the way she does. “We learn more about Sue and, then again, she’s the same person who puts kids in a headlock,” she said. “Sue’s kind of exacting revenge now because I believe she was treated really poorly as a high school kid and now … she’s going to get her power back. And she’s going to terrorize everybody, even though she’s 30 years older than these kids … she perceives as being one of those kids. She’s gonna get ’em back!” Lynch also admitted that having a new generation of guys fawning all over her does feel kind of good. “Sixteen-year-old boys are like my demo now,” she said. “I was saying on ‘Oprah,’ not to drop names, those boys when I was a kid [didn’t pay attention to me] and now the 14-year-old girl in me [gets excited] … It’s great!” What are you looking forward to seeing on the new season of “Glee”? Exclusive Book Excerpt: Mark Lisanti on Jersey Shore’s ‘New Guido Credo’

[ In this exclusive excerpt from the new book Reality Matters: 19 Writers Come Clean About the Shows We Can’t Stop Watching (HarperCollins, Apr. 13), Movieline editor at large Mark Lisanti measures himself against Jersey Shore ‘s three-word Guido gold standard — with less-than-optimal results. — STV ] About five minutes into Jersey Shore ‘s (two-hour!) premiere, Italian-American groups began to express their displeasure about the cast’s embrace — nay exultation — of the term “Guido,” considered by many to be a slur, as well as MTV’ s alleged exploitation of the group by reducing all Italians to an easily mockable Goombah stereotype. It’s a complaint Italians have heard before, most recently after some people wrongheadedly decried The Sopranos , perhaps the greatest and most nuanced television show of all time, for depicting the culture as nothing but a bunch of tracksuited, pork-store-haunting, stoolie-whacking goons. As an Italian American who grew up in a New York suburb just north of the Bronx, among friends (if not family) who were recognizable, if distant, forebears of The Shore gang (in those days, it was B.U.M. Equipment instead of Ed Hardy), Pauly D’s celebratory explanation of Guidoness as “a lifestyle… being Italian… tanning, gel, everything,” was not just the last word on a minor controversy. it was an invitation to take an inventory of my inner Guido every Thursday night.

‘Everywhere I go, there’s just mass amounts of people,’ the Situation tells Interview magazine. By Eric Ditzian Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino on the set of his Interview magazine photo shoot Photo: Interview Magazine John Lennon famously declared in 1966 that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Almost half a century later, a star of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” has a feeling he and his reality-show buddies are giving the Fab Four a run for their money. “Oh, man, it’s just unbelievable,” Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino told Interview magazine in the new issue. “Everywhere I go, there’s just mass amounts of people. There’s people showing up at airports, wanting autographs, girls, it’s insane. It’s like the Beatles, man.” The world’s in love with the “Shore” kids, so it seems, and they feel fine. Girls apparently have fainted when they met the Situation. Girls who encounter Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, the star declared, often start shaking and crying. And then there’s Vinny Guadagnino. “I have girls who come to my house and knock on my door,” he said. “I have girls who call me at 4 in the morning. I have girls who make pages for me on Facebook, VinnyGsFutureWife on Twitter.” Along with the girls, they have celeb fans too, including, according to the “Shore” guys, Lindsay Lohan, Ashton Kutcher, Diddy, Denzel Washington and Leonardo DiCaprio. According to Vinny, Leo once told him, “I can tell you’re a good Italian kid, from a good family.” While they’ve gathered in Miami this week to begin shooting the second season of “Jersey Shore” — which premieres Thursday, July 29, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV — the crew is also looking toward the future and where their newfound fame might take them. The Situation is looking to break into movies after he “conquer[s] reality.” Ronnie wants to get out of reality shows before he morphs into a gelled-up version of Screech from “Saved by the Bell.” He’s looking toward a career in modeling or acting. Vinny? The kid loves to rap and wants to lay down a track that is “clubby and catchy,” although if a music career doesn’t work out, he’ll fall back on his political-science career. Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio, too, is looking at sticking in the music biz. “I want to become a famous DJ,” he said. “DJ AM passed away, so I want to become that — a huge DJ.” Are you excited for season two of “Jersey Shore”? What do you think the crew will get into down in Miami? Let us know in the comments below! Season two of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, July 29, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Be there! Kelis Works With ‘Amazing’ Benny Benassi, David Guetta On Remix EP

‘Acapella,’ the first single from Flesh Tone, gets the dance-music treatment. By Akshay Bhansali Kelis Photo: Denise Truscello/WireImage Acapella — The Remixes, an EP of electronic variations of the first single off Kelis ‘ forthcoming Flesh Tone album is available digitally Tuesday (April 6), featuring production from a handful of Kelis’ apparent favorites from the dance/electronic music world. The original version of “Acapella” was produced by current dance-music crossover star David Guetta , so it’s not surprising he maintains an extended mix on the EP. Notably, Kelis also teamed up with Grammy Award-winning Italian dance-music producer Benny Benassi recently, the results of which are a Benassi-helmed remix of “Acapella,” Benassi’s upcoming single “Spaceship” and another song on Flesh Tone. MTV News caught up with both Kelis and Benassi just before they took the stage to perform both “Acapella (Benny Benassi Remix)” and “Spaceship” at the recent Ultra Music Festival in Miami for a crowd of close to 100,000 people. The occasion marked the first time the duo performed the song together for a live audience. “He’s amazing,” Kelis said. “He’s been amazing. He did a remix for me … that’s ridiculous. I just think his take on stuff is very him. You recognize his sound, and that’s important for a producer. I love the fact that I can give him a record to remix and it literally sounds like a new song.” “This was a big opportunity for us,” Benassi said. “To work with her … it’s a beautiful experience because we get to put our bass line and our energy for dance music with a beautiful voice.” Other producers included on Acapella — The Remixes EP are L.A. house DJ/producer Dave Aud

Stephanie Pratt Predicts ‘Hills’ Stars’ Futures

‘I will have a closet the size of a house,’ Stephanie Pratt says about her future. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Stephanie Pratt Photo: MTV News Though the upcoming season of “The Hills” will be its last, star Stephanie Pratt is confident that in just six seasons, the series has left its mark on the world of reality TV. “It’s hard to get nostalgic yet, since we just started filming this season, and it hasn’t even aired yet,” she told MTV News on the red carpet of the “Clash of the Titans” red carpet in L.A. on Wednesday night. “It’s definitely sad to know that we’re not going to see the crew every day. … I know I’ll see the girls all the time. And the legacy — it was such a huge phenomenon. It’s really, really special to be a part of something like this. The fact that it had six seasons, I think, says everything.” So, could she see a reunion in 30 years after the season debuts this April 27? “I think that would be really fun to do,” she said. “I don’t know about a show, but some kind of reunion to see what we all look like and stuff.” Pratt shared her predictions for what life after “The Hills” would hold for her and her friends. “I will have a closet the size of a house,” she mused. “That’s what I’m looking for. I just want a closet, a really big one. “Lo is gonna be married with kids. Brody will be like the bachelor, still getting all the hot Italian girls,” she joked. “Spencer and Heidi? I have no idea; they always surprise me. I really don’t even know what’s going on with them. And Audrina will be an actress. And Lauren will have 20 books under her belt.” What do you think the “Hills” crew will be do after the show’s finale? Tell us in the comments! “The Hills: Final Season” premieres April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Tommy Lee Joins Deadmau5, Kelis Joins Benny Benassi At Ultra Music Festival

Above and Beyond, Swedish House Mafia also close out the two-day fest during WMC 2010. By Akshay Bhansali Tommy Lee (file) Photo: Bill McCay/ WireImage MIAMI — With over 200 DJs vying for the attention of close to 100,000 people in attendance this Saturday at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, in the end it was an Italian Stallion, the holy trinity of Swedish dance music and a guy who dons the mask of a fallen mouse that reigned supreme. Yes, on the second and final day of UMF, held at Miami’s Bicentennial Park and coinciding with the city’s Winter Music Conference, fans were treated to a healthy dose of dance music talent. British techno and house DJ Carl Cox closed out the night at the Carl Cox & Friends arena. Producer Paul Oakenfold, and Above and Beyond closed out action at the UMF Brazil Arena. But of course, the Ultra Main stage is where most gathered. Italian house DJ Benny Benassi hit the stage in the early evening with a series of hair-raising, relentless party anthems that had the audience in a frenzy for almost the entire set. Along with an excellent remix of Jimmy Hendrix’s “Purple Haze,” the Grammy-winning DJ/producer spun his 2002 club hit “Satisfaction” and “Electro Sixteen.” More notably, singer Kelis, who has worked with Benny on her upcoming Flesh Tone album , wore a metallic silver face mask and silver lace-up boots as she joined Benassi onstage for their collaboration “Spaceship” and the David Guetta-produced “Acapella.” And then came the trio of Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello — billed together as the all-star Swedish House Mafia. They’re known for their dramatic thumping performances, and this one certainly fell in line what fans have come to expect. SHM had the crowd jumping with Sebastian Ingrosso’s hit “Kidsos,” based on MGMT’s “Kids,” and then came “Meich Clocks,” the Ingrosso mash-up using Coldplay’s “Clocks.” Supermode’s (an Axwell/Angello group) “Tell Me Why” was also rabidly received. Of course, the highlight was their yet-unnamed new single, a mix of eerie atmosphere and euphoric resolution that had fans begging for more. And certainly no one was prepared for M

Cube Guys Hype Up WMC 2010 Crowd With ‘Scarface’ Sample, Coolio Remix

Their song ‘Scarcube,’ which samples Al Pacino lines from the movie, is a contender for this year’s WMC anthem. By Adam Stewart The Cube Guys Photo: MTV News The Cube Guys embrace an unmistakable sound that incorporates an eclectic blend of tribal house, electro house, fidget house and many other subgrenes that has consistently kept fans on their toes. The Italian duo first broke into the electronic-music scene back at the Winter Music Conference in 2005 with their club smash “Electro” and have been going strong ever since. WMC has been a perennial playground for the pair, who spent some time with MTV News after their set this year at Gansevoort Beach at the Stereo Recordings Playa party along with Chus and Ceballos . The Cube Guys, made up of Roberto Biffi and Luca Provera, dropped a monster anthem to start their set in front of an enthusiastic, bikini-clad crowd. The song, called “Scarcube,” is a strong contender for the WMC track of 2010 . The deeply sinister electro house track samples iconic Al Pacino lines from the film “Scarface.” “That’s a new track from us. It’s crazy, because we cut up all the Pacino voices, and we then built all of the tracks on top of it,” Provera recalled. “Everywhere we spin it, the people go crazy. They ask, ‘What is that? What is that? When is it coming out?’ We’re so surprised about it, but we love it, and we hope that it will have a good future. ‘Scarface’ is the Miami movie, so why not?” The fans packed 20 deep in front of the stage and fully embraced what is sure to become a Miami anthem. They then seamlessly segued into another new release, a huge remix of Coolio’s “Fantastic Voyage,” giving new life to the song that went double-platinum back in 1994 by putting their signature spin on the classic vocal and incorporating electronic horns and a driving beat. “We officially landed the remix of Coolio with Universal Records, so we’re really happy about it!” Provera said.
