Hugh Jackman To Take Lead Role In ‘Houdini’ Musical

‘I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,’ actor says. By Jocelyn Vena Hugh Jackman Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Hugh Jackman is ready to hit the Great White Way once again. The actor has been confirmed to take the stage as the lead in “Houdini” Deadline reports. “I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young, and in many ways I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,” Jackman said in a statement. “I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game.” The play, written by “The Social Network” screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, will open during the 2013/2014 season. Sorkin will work with composer Stephen Schwartz and director Jack O’Brien. “Rather than being a biography, ‘Houdini,’ told in a contemporary tone, tells the story of an epic battle that took place between the world’s greatest illusionist and a trio of women, known as ‘Spiritualists,’ who convinced millions of people, including the editors of Scientific American and the New York Times , that they could communicate with the dead,” Sorkin said. “The chance to collaborate with Stephen Schwartz, Jack O’Brien and Hugh Jackman on a new Broadway musical is a huge gift.” Before he takes the stage, Jackman has a number of other projects on his plate, including the big-screen adaptation of “Les Miserables,” the next installment of “Wolverine” and “Unbound Captives” with Robert Pattinson . Most recently, Jackman starred in the one-man show, “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway” and has also starred in “The Boy From Oz” and “A Steady Rain.” Will Hugh Jackman make magic in the role of Harry Houdini? Jennifer Garner Records Solo Sex Session for Her New Movie Butter

Now that we’ve got your attention… Jennifer Garner stars in the new satirical comedy Butter as a repressed Midwestern housewife whose lone creative outlet is butter carving. But despite the sexy example set by Olivia Wilde as a lesbian stripper, this movie won’t do anything to break skingy Jennifer’s non-nude streak; her only sex scene, where she screws Hugh Jackman in the backseat of a car, is off-camera. However, we do hear the two of them getting it on, an experience that Jackman told the Huffington Post was made skinfinitely more awkward by the sound guy’s request that they, uh, perform separately: “We both had to kind of perform our version, in character, of sex while the other one is quiet. And it was impossible not to be laughing your head off while the other person is doing it. That was humiliating… Guys never sound good during sex. It’s impossible to sound good.” Now, Jennifer on the other hand…we’re usually visual kind of guys, but we bet she sounds amazing . How much you wanna bet the sound guy just wanted a tape without any annoying Jackman grunts for his own perv-sonal use ? See all the sexiest moments from Jennifer Garner, including her butt-baring scene from Alias , right here at MrSkin.com

‘Wolverine’ R Rating Not ‘Off The Table,’ Hugh Jackman Says

‘There is even talk about us doing two versions,’ actor tells MTV News. By Kevin Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Hugh Jackman Photo: MTV News After months of delayed start dates and a change of directors, the best thing Wolverine fans have going for them is a star who is just as eager to get the man with the adamantium claws back on the screen. Hugh Jackman stopped by MTV News and gave an update on “The Wolverine,” its potential R rating, whether any familiar faces from the Marvel Universe would show up and a new hint about the setting. As of now, the darker follow-up to 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” has a director in James Mangold but no definite start date. So what should fans expect from “The Wolverine” once filming begins in Japan? First of all, there will be more locations. “Not all of it takes place in Japan. That’s my other little tip for you,” Jackman told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. Japan, up until now, had been a focal point for the concept of the film, which centers on Logan’s encounters with samurai. How Wolverine’s native Canada plays into the equation is yet to be seen. Any talk of taking the franchise “darker” is going to welcome the follow-up question, “Well, how dark?” In the case of “The Wolverine,” many older fans have held on to the hope of a more realistic, R-rated sequel, as sharp objects like adamantium claws tend to result in blood. “There’s such great temptation to make an R-rated ‘Wolverine.’ I’ve always felt that, and I know a lot of fans would like that,” Jackman said. “If there’s ever going to be a superhero that is going to be R-rated, it’s going to be Wolverine.” And while an R rating isn’t “off the table,” there are considerations to be made, specifically the character’s younger fans. “You see it in their eyes. He’s everything to them,” said Jackman, who’s concerned with alienating those fans with an R-rated film. “You need to have a really good reason to exclude those fans.” In the meantime, Jackman and Mangold may have come up with one possible solution to their rating dilemma. “There is even talk about us doing two versions, as in finding a way to do both while you shoot it, which could be really cool.” With Wolverine, there is always the unique question of the X-Men timeline and who might show up to the party, because the ageless mutant can more or less pop up in any era since the beginning of the 19th century. Jackson was less talkative on the subject of whether we’d see some familiar faces, but suggested that most of the cast would be filled with new characters, possibly leaving room for a cameo or two. Ever since “3:10 to Yuma” director James Mangold stepped in to replace Darren Aronofsky , the biggest obstacle has been Jackman’s starring role opposite Russell Crowe in Tom Hooper’s “Les Mis

Hugh Jackman KOs George Clooney At Box Office

‘Real Steel’ was victor at the weekend box office, with ‘Ides of March’ at #2. By Ryan J. Downey Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly in “Real Steel” Photo: DreamWorks “Real Steel” was the clear victor at the box office this weekend. The action-packed robot-boxing movie took in $27.3 million, according to studio estimates, which easily bested the rest of the flicks in theaters, both new and old. Of course, the contest wasn’t exactly along the lines of George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali. Industry watchers long suspected the mass audience appeal of “Real Steel” to beat the suspenseful nature of George Clooney ‘s “The Ides of March.” “Real Steel” features Hugh Jackman opposite Dakota Goyo , a generally relatable 11-year-old. It features effects-heavy action, a family story and big thrills aimed at a broad audience. It was also executive-produced by Steven Spielberg . DreamWorks will undoubtedly continue to campaign hard for “Real Steel,” considering its estimated $110 million budget. The weekend’s #2 movie, “The Ides of March,” is a dramatic tale of political intrigue aimed for a more discerning, grown-up audience. “Ides” was directed and co-written by George Clooney, who also stars. It debuted with $10.4 million. Clooney’s face is split on the poster with co-star Ryan Gosling , whose “Drive” opened with $11.3 million in August by comparison. Last weekend’s #1 movie, “Dolphin Tale,” slid gracefully to #3 with $9.2 million for a $49.1 million total — a decline of just 34 percent. Brad Pitt’s “Moneyball” took in $7.5 million to land at #4 with a $49.3 million total. The Joseph Gordon-Levitt/ Seth Rogen dramedy “50/50” was #5, with $5.5 million in its second weekend of release. The low-budget picture has made $17.3 million playing in roughly two-thirds the number of theaters as “Real Steel.” “The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence” took $54,000 in just 18 theaters in its debut. Next weekend’s new releases include a pair of blasts from the past: the remake of “Footloose” and the remake-turned-prequel “The Thing.” They’ll open alongside a handful of smaller pictures with big stars including “Fireflies in the Garden” (Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds), “Trespass” (Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman), “Father of Invention” (Kevin Spacey) and “Texas Killing Fields” (Sam Worthington). “The Big Year,” which stars Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Steve Martin, debuts as well.
