‘True Blood’ Episode Two: How Gory Will It Get?

We review the big questions left over from the premiere before tonight’s new show. By Kara Warner Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard and Lucy Griffiths in “True Blood” Photo: Lacey Terrell/ HBO Last week’s kickoff to the fifth season of “True Blood” was as bloody of a good time as we expected. As creator Alan Ball and company are wont to do with their vampire soap, the first episode of this new season ended in cliffhanger territory; plenty of people were up to no good and best friends were turned into vampires . So what’s in store for tonight? How Will Tara Take to Being Undead? Given all we know about Tara’s stubborn and incendiary personality, along with what we know about newborn vampires, we expect Tara’s transition to be a particularly messy one. She won’t go killing off Sookie and Lafayette, of course; they’re main characters. But we do expect her to do some damage via draining. Will she even take to the idea at all? How will the maker/makee bond play out between Tara and Pam? When Will Chris Meloni Make His Appearance? We’ve been waiting to see Chris Meloni and his fangs ever since it was announced that the HBO alum would be joining the cast for season five. His fellow castmembers have been singing his praises , and Meloni himself promised us “a lot of staking.” So where is he? Seems to us he should be making his appearance very soon, since Bill and Eric are still tied up with the Authority and all. Can Jason and Jessica Get It Together Already? It is very sweet that Jason misses his best buddy Hoyt and is trying to smooth things over. However, Jason can’t keep away from Jessica, so he might as well give up on repairing that friendship for now, which should leave the door open for him and Jess to actually formulate a relationship. Jason could use a strong-willed, independent lady in his life, despite the fact that Jessica wants to sow her wild oats. Why Won’t Alcide Embrace His New Pack Master Status? Yes, that group-eating of fallen pack master and all-around bad guy Marcus was super gross. But weird cannibalistic rituals be damned, Alcide would make a great pack master! He’s perfectly authoritative and assertive when he needs to be and so sweet and kind! From what we know about Alcide, which isn’t that much, he has always seemed resistant to joining up with wolf packs. Perhaps we’ll find out the reason behind his lone-wolf mind-set soon. What’s up with Steve Newlin? We are definitely intrigued by this new twist to Steve Newlin’s character. As a “gay vampire American,” he should definitely provide for some lighthearted distractions this season. But now that his recently declared love for Jason has been spurned, what is he going to do? Newlin was not at all pleased to see Jessica claim Jason for herself and we don’t think he’ll soon move on or go quietly into the woods. We’re betting it’s just a matter of time before he makes some mischief.

New ‘Bourne Legacy’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Spy series continues without leading man Matt Damon, and from the looks of the most recent trailer, it might actually pull it off. By Kevin P. Sullivan Jeremy Renner in “Bourne Legacy” Photo: Universal Pictures Of all the summer’s potential blockbusters, ” The Bourne Legacy ,” the Matt Damon -less continuation of the spy series, has the most to prove. Series tend not to fare well once the star exits, but the latest trailer for “The Bourne Legacy” is making us believe that it could buck the trend. Here are our five key scenes from the new “Bourne Legacy” trailer. Weisz’s Role Revealed Until now, most of the promo material has focused squarely on Jeremy Renner ‘s Aaron Cross and how there was “never just one.” One of the first things this full trailer does is formally introduce us to Marta, the doctor Rachel Weisz plays in the film. (Her hand appeared briefly in the first trailer.) When Edward Norton’s Agent Byer decided to liquidate the operation, both Marta and Cross find themselves in harm’s way. That’s the set-up that eventually brings them together to go on the run. Connections to the Past Perhaps the most intriguing element of the new trailer — besides how badass Renner is — has to be the clear connections to the previous film, “The Bourne Ultimatum.” Both Corey Johnson, who plays the government crony, and Paddy Considine, who didn’t survive the events of “Ultimatum,” show up in the trailer. It appears that the events of “Ultimatum” and Bourne’s appearance in Manhattan spur the events of “Legacy.” Jason Bourne Again Speaking of Jason Bourne, there’s Matt Damon’s face right there in the trailer. The actor has made it clear that he himself won’t appear in the newest addition to the series he led through three films, but his headshot does briefly appear on a newscast in the trailer. Director Tony Gilroy told us during our Summer Movie Preview that Bourne’s presence would be felt in the early parts of the “Legacy.” “What happens in ‘Ultimatum’ is really the spark that’s blowing open the door to this movie because the Jason Bourne story is exploding out into the public,” he said. “Being impossible to conceal any further is causing problems for this much larger conspiracy. ‘Ultimatum’ plays in the background of the very beginning of this film.” Agent Aaron “Moto” Cross As with the teaser trailer, a good portion of the full trailer focuses on the chromosomal enhancements that have been made to Aaron Cross. He heals quickly, and he can grind a railing with a freakin’ motocross bike. Was one of the “inconsistencies” within Treadstone that the characters talk about in the trailer the inability to grind a railing with a freakin’ motocross bike? Matt Who? If this trailer does one thing particularly well, it silences all of Renner’s doubters. His action on display here is definitely on par with the kung-fu antics of Matt Damon. Whether he’s on the bike or sliding between buildings or emerging from freezing water with a full beard, Renner looks poised to take the reins in style. Be sure to see how Renner’s “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” co-star, Tom Cruise, fares when he goes up for two MTV Movie Awards, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance and Best Fight, this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET live on MTV. REVIEW: Friends with Kids Loses Its Nerve in the End, But Does Right by Adam Scott

Jennifer Westfeldt’s sort-of romantic comedy Friends with Kids is on to something, even if in the end it suffers from a failure of nerve. This is actor and screenwriter Westfeldt’s directorial debut (she co-wrote and starred in the 2001 feature Kissing Jessica Stein ), and it’s polished to the point of shallow glossiness — it could benefit from being a little rougher, a little messier. But the picture at least attempts to wrestle with the notion that there’s no single right way to raise a family or navigate a partnership. And it acknowledges, if only fleetingly, the way very well-meaning people who are parents can often be incredibly smug toward those who aren’t, insinuating that their own lives are somehow more meaningful because they have kids who run them ragged. At one point Westfeldt and Adam Scott, who play best friends Julie and Jason, ponder how much their friends changed after they had kids. “I don’t know these people anymore,” Jason says, bewildered after he’s just attended a dinner party where frazzled, distracted parents did nothing but snap at one another and at their children, completely unable to enjoy themselves or one another. “These people are mean and angry.” The tide shifts when Jason and Julie decide to have a child together without becoming romantically involved. They’ve been close friends for years, and they live in the same apartment building — why not? The experiment goes surprisingly well, and the two end up with a pretty good kid who really does seem to be enriching their lives. In one of the movie’s most gratifying sequences, their traditionally coupled friends, played by a Bridesmaids reunion cast including Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd, Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm (Westfeldt’s partner in real life), speculate about how out-of-control the new parents’ lives must be, only to find that Jason and Julie’s unorthodox arrangement is extremely efficient and agreeable. But Friends with Kids winds up turning on itself, becoming a more conventional comedy than it sets out to be. In the end, Jason and Julie do fit themselves into a mold, although at least the transition doesn’t come easy. Westfeldt’s Julie is too adorable by half: She’s a cutie-pie neurotic, and the appeal wears thin quickly. (You can hardly blame Jason for falling, temporarily, for a shallow vixen played by Megan Fox.) But as writer and director, Westfeldt has at least done right by Adam Scott, a fine comic actor who, until now, has been relegated to second-banana roles. A highly unscientific poll conducted here and there among my women friends, straight and gay, has revealed that all women love Adam Scott. I have not been able to determine the source of his charm, but it appears that in addition to being good-looking (but not too good-looking), he tends to come off as the kind of guy who has flaws you could live with: He’s a little smart-alecky but also smart and funny; he might leave his underwear on the floor, but he remembers to hang up his towel; and so forth. As I said, it’s all unscientific. Friends with Kids proves that Scott can carry a movie: His comic timing is crisp and on-point, but he’s also capable of playing it straight when he needs to. He’s marvelous in one revelatory scene where he enumerates Julie’s best qualities, and as written, it’s the sort of dialogue that could head right into pukefest territory, fast. Scott gives Friends with Kids some necessary edge, and though the picture overall could still be much sharper, from scene to scene, he’s key to its integrity. No wonder his Jason is superdad material. My name is Milagros. I’m 14 and I’m from Buenos…

My name is Milagros. I’m 14 and I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina . My Bieber experience started when Justin arrived to Argentina (11 of October). I had my tickets for the first concert in row 16. I was going with my friend and we were so excited. We wanted to meet Justin so we made a video for bieberfever.com but we didn’t win. We were so sad. We also participated in others contests. I was so sad but I knew that I was going to see him in concert. I went to the hotel to see him, I spent the day shouting and running and but didn’t see him. The day of the first concert, it was raining a lot but it was awesome. I cried a lot when I saw him. At the end of the concert, I thought that it was the end of everything but I didn’t know that something was going to happen the next day. When I bought my tickets, I made a friend (@wowwbieber). She had row 16 like me, so we talked a lot. I met her at the first concert. The next day I was on the computer and I talked to her. She told me, “OMG OMG OMG, KENNY HAS ANSWERED MY DM AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAS 4 TICKETS AND 4 M&G, DO YOU WANNA COME?” I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it. I was like, “Is this real? I’m going to meet Justin?” I started to call my mom to tell her and she didn’t believe it at all, she said that it was strange. I didn’t listen to her and I started getting ready. I was horrible but I didn’t care. I just wanted to meet him. 10 minutes later I was with my mom at the bus stop. The trip to the stadium was long, I was too nervous. 30 minutes later the bus crushed a car. I started crying and I couldn’t believe that I was going to be late. I was scared because I didn’t want to lose the opportunity of my life. It was my dream. When the bus finally arrived, I started running to find my friend.  Finally  after 15 minutes I found her and she gave me a yellow pass which said “Justin Bieber”. I COULDN’T BELIEVE I WAS GOING TO MEET HIM. Three hours ago, I was in my house without knowing that my dream was going to come true. I was so grateful of my friend. A woman told us the things we couldn’t do with Justin. We entered to the stadium, I was so nervous that I thought I was going to die. We waited in a row. A woman came and took my friend with KENNY! When I saw Kenny, I started crying. Kenny said we had to be at the end of the row, to be the last girls to meet Justin. Then I was still crying and I saw a person walking, it was ALFREDO FLORES. I started crying harder and I started saying, “ALFREDO ALFREDO”. He looked at me and he smiled! He came to hug us! I hugged him! I couldn’t say a thing because I was so happy to talk! We then took a picture with him. The time arrived and it was our turn to meet Justin. When I entered the room I saw Kenny and I was crying (I didn’t stop) Then I turned around and I saw him.. JUSTIN BIEBER. He was looking at me. I was in shock that I don’t remember much. I stayed there looking at him, I couldn’t react. I walked, he said “HI” and I hugged him. It was amazing, I cant explain what I felt. I told him, “I LOVE YOU” so many times and he said to me, “TE AMO”. Alfredo and another man took our picture. I was crying so Kenny hugged me, he’s so nice! I couldn’t stop looking at Justin’s eyes, face, hair, it was PERFECT. Before I left, I hugged him again and told him “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH”. I couldn’t stop crying for half an hour, I was so much in shock. It was the best day of my life. Also Kenny gave us 4 tickets for the second concert that night in row 7!  I saw Scooter, Pattie, Kenny and Alfredo! I want to tell you guys to NEVER stop believing because  dreams DO COME TRUE! NEVER SAY NEVER! Originally posted here: My name is Milagros. I’m 14 and I’m from Buenos…

Jason Alexander on Britney Spears Engagement: So FAKE!

Britney Spears’ engagement last week was welcome news to millions of fans and celebrities alike, drawing praise from the likes of 50 Cent and even K-Fed . Jason Alexander, however, does not approve. Back in 2004, Brit’s childhood friend personified the term 15 minutes of fame … though it was more like 55 hours. They got married on a whim in Vegas. Their union was annulled less than three days later, but Jason Alexander likely got it in at least once – and continues to throw in his two cents about Brit. In short, he’s not a fan of Jason Trawick. “I know everyone wants me to be happy about this, but I am not,” Alexander, who is now in training for the World of MMA fighting competition (apparently), told Us . “I think it’s fake and I think people are afraid to say it.” “If you look at all the pictures between them there is no connection. They look like they are going through the motions. It seems like a answer to the court thing.” The singer is currently under the conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears, and Trawick, who once served as the star’s agent, meets Jamie’s stamp of approval. “Sort of a nice way to sew it all up; [Britney] marries her handler,” Alexander sniped. “That way she always has someone controlling her. It’s really sort of sad.” Or you’re really sort of bitter. Somehow we doubt he has much contact with Spears these days, has met Jason Trawick , or has any clue what he’s talking about.

50 Cent to Britney Spears: Congrats, Girl!

Ever since Britney Spears got engaged to Jason Trawick last week, celebrities everywhere – and even K-Fed for that matter – have been wishing her all the best. One of more vocal supporters over the years (really) has been 50 Cent, who told told reporters at the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul concert in NYC how happy he is. “I am so happy for her,” the rapper said , before musing, “Britney Spears had a rough time. The press took the biggest opportunity ever to dog her.” “When you reach that point, you work really hard to get where she is. It’s very interesting because the public likes to build you to destroy you for entertainment’s sake.” “I’m just really happy for her to be happy.” Fiddy continued by saying he thinks Britney is ready to be married for a third time (before K-Fed, she wed high school pal Jason Alexander for 55 hours). “I hope she is,” he remarked. “Wouldn’t you like to hope that? Let’s just put that out there in the universe, that she is ready.” She seems it. She and Jason Trawick, her former agent, were close long before they were a couple, and he’s been an enormously positive influence on her. [Photo: WENN.com]
