According to my sources, Kendall Jenner was recently named the highest-paid model in the world for 2017, although I’m pretty sure somebody got their math wrong. Are we sure they didn’t accidentally make a list of who pays the most for fashion magazine covers and not who gets paid the most? Anyway, assuming it is true, it just goes to show how sad the modeling industry is these days. Don’t get me wrong, Kendall’s definitely hot. But the idea that she’s the world’s most in-demand “supermodel” is a total joke.
It’s been 20 years since Princess Diana was killed in a car accident after being chased through the streets of Paris by a pack of aggressive paparazzi. Two decades later, Diana’s children are grown, and her legacy continues to flourish. Just this week, Di’s youngest son, Prince Harry, proposed to Meghan Markle using a ring made with diamonds from Diana’s collection. But while most discussions and remembrances of Diana focus on the challenges and remarkable accomplishments of her tragically short life, there are still lingering questions regarding the princess’ shocking death. Most of the answers, of course, are lost to history, but a surprising report from London tabloid The Sun is shedding new light on Diana’s final moments. Xavier Gourmelon is a retired Paris firefighter who was one of the first to arrive at the scene of Diana’s deadly crash inside the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in August of 1997. Gourmelon says he felt it would not have been appropriate to discuss his memories of the accident while he was still employed by as a firefighter. Following his recent retirement, however, Gourmelon has decided to go public with previously-unknown details about Diana’s death, including what he claims were the final words ever uttered by the People’s Princess. “We were very close to there and it took less than three minutes to reach it,” he says of the crash. “My ten-man team was in two trucks and we were first to arrive.” Gourmelon says that he and his team were not aware that among the victims they struggled to free from the wreck was one of the world’s most famous women. “The car was in a mess and we just dealt with it like any road accident. We got straight to work to see who needed help and who was alive,” he adds. “The woman, who I later found out was Princess Diana, was on the floor in the back. She was moving very slightly and I could see she was alive.” It was then, Gourmelon says, that Diana uttered what he believes to have been her last words: “I held her hand and told her to be calm and keep still, I said I was there to help and reassured her,” he tells The Sun . “She said, ‘My God, what’s happened?’” Gourmelon says that he initially believed Diana had suffered only a “slight injury to her right shoulder.” Just seconds after she spoke, however, the princess abruptly lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Having been trained in CPR, Gourmelon acted quickly: “I massaged her heart and a few seconds later she started breathing again. It was a relief of course because, as a first responder, you want to save lives — and that’s what I thought I had done,” he says. “To be honest I thought she would live. As far as I knew when she was in the ambulance she was alive and I expected her to live. But I found out later she had died in hospital.” Gourmelon says he was stunned by the news of Diana’s death, as he and the rest of his team believed she would recover. As with so many millions of others, thoughts of Diana remain with Gourmelon to this day. “I know now that there were serious internal injuries, but the whole episode is still very much in my mind,” he says. “And the memory of that night will stay with me forever.”
This might break Kris Jenner’s heart. You know how Kylie Jenner is pregnant , but refuses to confirm it — even when she’s been spotted out and about with a baby bump ? Well, now we know how long she intends to keep this to herself. In fact, we know when she’s planning to announce her baby news … and you won’t believe it. People reports that their source informs them that Kylie wants to keep things relatively private for the next long while. Specifically, their source says: “Kylie wants to disappear and be out of the spotlight and focus on her health and happiness.” Health and happiness are important, we’ll give her that. But how long is she going to keep teasing fans about her pregnancy ? “Kylie isn’t going to publicly address her pregnancy until she gives birth.” That is … technically her business but also laughably ridiculous. The entire world knows that she’s pregnant. “She’s not doing any public appearances and just wanted to take six months off” Taking time off is fine … though we wonder how it might impact her brand. Maybe she’s counting on her baby to balance things out? Most shocking of all was this tidbit: Apparently, Kylie’s baby shower “was organized just five days before it happened.” That is … almost incomprehensible. Maybe Kylie was unsure of whether or not to have one or maybe she was prompted to do it by Kim Kardashian’s baby shower or maybe she wanted to keep it quiet, but … wow. Personally, I try to plan going to dinner or a movie days in advance. If I were planning a baby shower, I’d start the day that the pregnancy was announced … if not sooner. We can understand a new mother’s desire to focus on her pregnancy and new baby, but … six months? Kylie Jenner hasn’t spent six months out of the spotlight since she was in elementary school. Now, everybody is totally entitled to a break. That includes reality stars. They work a lot to get footage for their show, and then there are promotional gigs and the constant social media presence. Anyone would want a vacation, right? Especially someone who’s pregnant. But … six months is a lot of time to all but disappear from the world, especially when the whole world is accustomed to seeing you give multiple updates on your life every day. And there’s no telling how this could impact Kylie’s wildly successful makeup business . So … this is a little confusing. But it makes sense when you think about what we’ve heard about Kylie feeling insecure over her pregnant body . “Kylie is only trusting her closest friends and her sisters right now.” That’s usually a good policy to keep. “She wants to reveal things on her own terms but she’s, of course, having fun teasing everyone.” From selfies that only capture her face to photos featuring massively oversized shirts to remaining a shut-in most of the time, Kylie’s definitely doing a lot of teasing. “She knows all the attention is on her and her baby bump, but she won’t share until she wants to.” That’s her right, even if some of her fans feel that she’s mocking them for being interested in the life that she’s openly shared with them until very recently.

Strap on your tinfoil hat, cue the X-Files theme music, and pop some of those herbal boner pills Alex Jones sells on his show, because it’s loony conspiracy theory time, folks! Kylie has yet to confirm that she’s pregnant , but the consensus among fans has been that she’s simply waiting for the right time in order to ensure maximum publicity. (She is Kris Jenner’s daughter, after all.) But what if there’s a much simpler explanation? What if Kylie hasn’t confirmed that she’s pregnant because she’s not actually pregnant? We know. Your head is reeling, just like the first someone told you that Ted Cruz is both the Zodiac Killer and Lee Harvey Oswald, but hear us out. We’d like to begin by presenting to you Exhibit A: Kylie posted the above photo on Snapchat, with a caption that reads simply, “GIRLS TRIP!” It seems innocent enough–until you realize that the girls are headed straight to the town of Fake Pregnancysburg in the state of Scandals-vania! Please, look closely at the sundry snacks and assorted foodstuffs that Kylie and her compatriots are purchasing for their trip. We’ll just be over here pausing menacingly with our hands clasped behind our backs like Law & Order prosecutors. Notice anything unusual in the upper-right corner, near the Black and Mild flavored cigarillos? That’s right–tampons, an item that’s generally not purchased by pregnant women! Add that to the fact that Kylie wants us to believe she hasn’t gained an ounce in the past two months, and we think you’ll that agree there’s sufficient evidence that the young Ms. Jenner is not with child. You might be saying to yourself, “But she clearly stated she’s taking a trip with a group of her girlfriends. Maybe the tampons are for someone else.” Or maybe you’re thinking, “Well, or course Kylie doesn’t want to admit to gaining any weight. She is a member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, after all.” And maybe you have a point, skeptical hypothetical reader. But we say to you this: What’s more fun to believe: that Kylie is actually pregnant and just keeping an uncharacteristically low profile, or that this whole thing is an elaborate charade that’s soon to blow up in Kris Jenner’s face and bring the entire Kardashian empire crumbling down? Needless to say, some folks were less than thriled with the thought of living in a world in which the Juice is on the loose. Obviously, there are the families of O.J.’s alleged murder victims, and the Brown and Goldman families are probably more than a little about reports that Simpson tried to hire a hitman and have them killed during his time behind bars. But O.J. burned a lot of bridges during his first stint as a free man, so the Browns and Goldmans aren’t alone in their antipathy toward the former football great. The members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, for example, are no big fans of number 32. Kris Jenner’s husband, Robert Kardashian, was a close friend of Simpson’s and the late attorney played an instrumental role in assembling the defense team for his double murder trial. Both Kris and former husband Caitlyn Jenner have been vocally critical of O.J., and there have been reports that Kris and Caitlyn are afraid for their lives in the wake of Simpson’s release. TMZ caugh up with Simpson in Las Vegas last night, and the topic of Caitlyn came up during a brief conversation. O.J. attempted to keep the conversation lighthearted, but we’re guessing Jenner won’t be thrilled with what he had to say. “I don’t know Caitlyn,” Simpson told the paparazzo. “I’ve never met Caitlyn, as far as Bruce is concerned, I really didn’t know him that well.” The reason to question the veracity of that remark, as O.J. vacationed with the Jenners in the late ’80s, but it’s what Simpson said next that’s really sparking controversy. “If he wants to choose to live his life out as an old lady, instead of an old man, hey, women live longer,” Simpson joked. “He may be on to something.” A groaner, to be sure, but it could’ve been far worse. For as much backlash as Kendall and Kylie have gotten for what some describe as stealing the brands of other celebrities, you might expect them to not do that. Instead, it looks like they’re taking a page out of Beyonce’s book. You know how Queen Bey Kendall and Kylie have come out with a new line of lingerie — but they haven’t said a word to promote it. We don’t know if Kendall and Kylie aren’t proud of this particular product, if they think that Kylie’s pregnancy will generate all of the publicity that they could need, or if they’re experimentally flexing the power of their brand. Or maybe they just forgot. Whatever the reason, be it method or madness, Kendall and Kylie’s lingerie line is now available at Topshop. It’s called the “Kendall + Kylie” lingerie collection, and it launched on Wednesday. And this occasion was heralded, not with a tweet, but with a whimper. … That is, neither sister plugged it on social media. That’s so rare for either of them, but for both of them to completely forget to promote their own products? That’s almost enough to make you believe those bonkers celebrity clone theories. Well, not really. But it sure is different. You’d think that Kris Jenner taught them better than that. But maybe, just maybe, this isn’t an accident. Cosmopolitan expressed their shock over Kendall and Kylie’s lingerie line going unannounced. “But here’s the plot twist: They didn’t tell anyone. This isn’t even an ICYMI, because literally everyone missed it. The line simply appeared on Topshop’s website, as if by magic.” Well … not by magic. Some writers and coders and maybe even some graphic designers set it up and then someone hit “publish.” But there wasn’t any pomp and circumstance surrounding it, either. Cosmo reported on the actual lingerie line itself. “The capsule is co-designed by Fleur du Mal founder and creative director Jennifer Zuccarini, and it features plenty of velvet, mesh, and lace.” That makes sense for lingerie. “Styles range from sheer bodysuits to athletic shorts and basic bralettes.” So some of it is designed to work as sexy outerwear. Despite the lack of promotional tweets or whatever, that’s very on-brand. W Magazine shared that feeling of dismay. “Kendall and Kylie Jenner aren’t usually shy about self promotion on social media. (After all, their family has built a career out of it.) But when their new collection with Topshop dropped today, there wasn’t as much as a tweet or post about it from either of the sisters.” See? We’re not alone in thinking that this is out of character. In fact, neither Kendall nor Kylie modeled for the clothing. Instead, a brunette model with similar coloring to the Kardashian girls modeled the lingerie on the Topshop website. She looks great but, again, usually the Jenner sisters promote their own brand and use that as a key to their success. The big theory that we have — and we’re not the only ones — to explain this is simple: Maybe Kendall and Kylie are pulling a Beyonce. Beyonce is famous for dropping albums and music videos with zero notice. No announcements, no billboards, nothing. It’s a power play on her part. Beyonce’s influence is such that her music tops charts by word of mouth. Maybe Kendall and Kylie are testing the waters to see if they can mimic that strategy. However, let’s put forward an alternate theory. What if, rather than just a capricious experiment to see how powerful their brand is … if this is instead a test run for the future? Kylie Jenner is about to become a mom. At 20. Which is bonkers. But that means that she’s not going to have the kind of free time that she used to. That means less time for modeling her products and it also means less time for social media. Kendall is a genuine, honest-to-goodness supermodel. She works for a living in perhaps the most “normal” job held by any member of the Kardashian clan. Practically speaking, the two of them won’t be able to do as many in person promotions of their products in the near future. They need to know how well their goods are going to sell as they make financial plans in terms of personal spending and business decisions. Maybe this is a test run for the future.
