Actor Rupert Everett is not shy about expressing himself … or naming names if he’s bitter enough about who becomes a star and who doesn’t. Speaking to BBC Radio 4 about how homosexuals fare in Hollywood, the interview eventually turned to the question of audience perception. Rupert argued that no matter what fans may think, the industry decides who will become A-list. How else to you explain Jennifer Aniston?! The Switch? The Bounty Hunter?! Come on! “If you look and analyze the careers of many, many, many stars, you’ll find that they’re mostly sustained by the business,” he said. “I’m not going to start naming names of people whose films have not succeeded at the box office, but you’ll find lots of women and lots of men that the powers that be determine are right and they’ll stand with them for quite a long time.” “Jennifer Aniston will have so many absolute flops, but she’s still a member of that club, and like a star forming in the universe, things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless rom-com.” Oooookay … Rude? Bitter? You bet. Although The Switch , The Bounty Hunter, Love Happens and Management were pretty terrible, we’ll give him that. Marley & Me was a big hit, though, and Friends? One of the most popular shows in history. Plus, she married Brad Pitt and has that hair. In the end, you don’t have to be a professional critic to observe correctly that Jen has made some bad movies. But there is an audience. If they weren’t profitable, why would they continue to be made? Rom-coms may be tasteless, but they’re cheap to produce. Cha. Ching. Maybe she’s riding her past successes a bit these days, but does she really deserve to be singled out like this? Go get a life, Rupert! Just don’t even get near her .

The Ryan Reynolds-Scarlett Johannson divorce just became official. Or at least the paperwork was just filed that WILL make it official before long. Just a few weeks after their separation was announced, Reynolds has begun the process of officially ending his two-year marriage to Johansson. Already separated from Johansson , Reynolds filed for divorce Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Scarlett filed her response simultaneously. Both sides cite December 14 as their date of separation, and neither seeks spousal support in what by all accounts is a mutual, amicable split. Sources believe that the couple simply grew apart under the strain of managing two thriving careers, and are breaking up on pleasant terms. They were married in a private ceremony in Canada in 2008. It’s too bad it didn’t work out, but at least there was no real scandal involved.

Looks like Chelsea Handler isn’t the only person Jennifer Aniston doesn’t want near her. An insider on the set of her new movie describes her “ring of buffers.” “It was an unspoken thing that you couldn’t get within 20 feet of Jen. She surrounded herself with a ring of buffers at all times,” says a Wanderlust source. “She traveled with them from her trailer to the set and back.” Is Jen pulling a diva act on us? Aniston’s rep calls this “false,” and says “Jennifer had a blast filming Wanderlust .” What really happened there? Will she ever stop loving Brad Pitt ? Who’s to say.

Contrary to the allegations of former Betty Ford staffer Dawn Holland, Lindsay Lohan says she was stone cold sober the night of their fight in rehab . According to Lohan’s camp, she met a friend at the Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs, Calif., on December 11 to get her hair done . That’s her excuse. While there, sources say Lindsay knocked back Shirley Temples – the famous non-alcoholic mixed drink – along with an order of fries. That’s it. Was Lindsay Lohan bombed that night? [Photo: Pacific Coast News] Sources claim Lindsay eventually headed back to her sober house, completely sober, at around 1 a.m., and that’s when Holland confronted her. Holland claims she smelled alcohol on Lindsay, who was reportedly out past curfew, and that the train wreck refused to take a breathalyzer. Lohan claims she asked for the test in an attempt to prove her sobriety but was denied it by Holland, who she says has “had it out” for her. The details vary depending on who you believe, but it got physical. Holland alleges Lohan hurt her bad enough for her to go on workers’ comp. Lindsay says Holland came at her first, but admits she pushed back. Lohan was quick to play the victim card in the wake of the incident, which resulted in a call to the police and a battery complaint by the staffer. The chemical dependency technician was fired by Betty Ford for talking to TMZ about this, and by doing so, may have even broken the law . Lohan faces a possible police inquiry if officials believe she may have violated her probation in any way during her latest ridiculous incident.

The actor has reportedly played wealthy Santa Claus to Taylor Swift, gifting her over the last couple weeks with a number of high-priced items. According to In Touch Weekly , Gyllenhaal has handed out: A $10,000 Fender Gretsch guitar, signed by country artist Chet Atkins. A $100,000 diamond bracelet that sources describe as “Oscar-worthy.” Due to the couple’s mutual love of coffee, 21 pounds of the best Kona beans available, along with a coffee grinder and a maker. Gyllenhaal also went with a home-made Christmas card over a generic store-bought one. No wonder Swift is obsessed with Jake, huh?

Chelsea Handler made headlines recently for calling Angelina Jolie a c*%t and tearing her a new one. Chels’ BFF, Jennifer Aniston, is reportedly not thrilled. Jen is not an Angelina fan either, for obvious reasons, but she was so mortified at Chelsea’s insults that she has decided to distance herself from Handler. “Jen and Chelsea haven’t officially fallen out but they won’t be close for a long time unless Chelsea promises to never talk about Angelina,” a friend says. POORLY HANDLED: Chelsea crossed the line, Jen feels . The friend adds: “She understands that what Chelsea did, she did out of loyalty to Jen, but it didn’t help.
