‘Hunger Games’ Stars Answer More Of Your Questions!

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth exclusively talk survival skills, accents and most challenging scenes. By Kara Warner, with additional reporting by MTV UK Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate As promised, we are back with more from our exclusive interviews with “Hunger Games” stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth — and all the questions were asked by you, the fans. Last week, Lawrence, Hutcherson and Hemsworth revealed a few of the pranks pulled on set, as well as a preview of what the arena will look like onscreen. This second installment features talk about which actor is most like his or her character, details about the reaping and talk of real-life survival skills. (Minor spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read Suzanne Collins’ brilliant books!) Be sure to check back here next week for part three of our interviews. @RealOrNotReal: Who among the cast is most like their “Hunger Games” character? Jennifer Lawrence : Josh. Josh is Peeta. He’s charming, he’s nice, he’s very real and down to earth, he’s not fake in any way. He just can charm anyone and anything. Josh Hutcherson : Oh, God, this is going to sound so stupid: Me, because I have literally never read a character, book or script or anything that has a character in it I connected with more than Peeta. I feel like so much of who I am is Peeta. It drove me crazy during the audition process, because I was like, “This is so me, it hurts. If I don’t get this, I’m not even good at being me, so now what am I? I have no idea what to do next.” @HGTribute_Manda: What was the most difficult scene to shoot? Liam Hemsworth : The reaping stuff that we shot was pretty hard. I remember turning up to set the first day and looking out at the few hundred extras there — it looked like a prison camp. It looked so rough and really did look how I think it would be, and it was hot. It was some of the hottest weather I’ve ever shot in. We had extras collapsing because it was so hot out there. That was probably the hardest stuff to shoot for sure. Lawrence : I don’t know if I have a most difficult scene. Really, the physical scenes, the running. Katniss doesn’t really stop running throughout the whole movie, so if I’m running up a mountain in a scene, that’s what we shot all day, so by the time we started acting and talking, it was like a vacation. @p1nklov3er: Is it hard to hide your accent? Hemsworth : It gets easier and easier. I work with accent coaches a lot and try to do my best to get the Australian out of there. Australians grow up with a lot of American TV; we watch the same movies you watch, so it’s not as alien for an Australian to do an American accent as it is for an American to do an Australian accent, because you guys don’t grow up hearing our accents. It’s in the back of your mind, but it’s practice, practice, practice. @eringabin: In a postapocalyptic world, what would your most valuable survival skill be? Hutcherson : I think I’d be pretty good at building a fort. I have a lot of experience with that when I was a kid. I built a lot of forts back in the day, so I think my expertise would be in the architecture and design of our shelter. @OttoRivera: Have you met Suzanne Collins? Hemsworth : I haven’t met her, but I’ve spoken to her on the phone a few times, and she’s really, really lovely. She’s obviously tremendously smart, and I love her books, so she’s been a big part of collaborating on the script. … I think everyone involved in the production wanted it to be true to the story, so she’s been involved a lot. @eringabin: Did you get any injuries during filming? Hutcherson : Not anything too crazy in the injury department. There were the classic bumps and bruises from running through the woods and forest, the big fight scene at the end with myself and Katniss and Cato on top of the Cornucopia, which itself lends itself to having more injuries than other times, but it was pretty good all in all, nothing too serious. Jennifer Lawrence on The Hunger Games: Not Like Twilight!

The comparisons were inevitable, but Jennifer Lawrence would like to stop them before they grow too loud. ” The Hunger Games is not Twilight ,” the actress, who plays the main role of Katniss Everdeen in this March 23 release, says in the latest issue of Vanity Fair . “It’s really premature to say that it will be the same phenomenon.” Lawrence stars in the movie alongside an impressive young cast, pictured above on set in North Carolina, that includes Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. They round out the teen participants forced to compete to the death in the government-mandated Hunger Games. “I’m so proud of the work we did on the film,” Lawrence gushes. “[Director] Gary Ross and the entire cast and crew were amazing, and I can’t wait for it to be brought to life because I think it’s an important story. If it does become a crazy phenomenon, I’ll soak up my freedom now!” Pick up the latest issue of Vanity Fair for more from this young, rising star. ‘Hunger Games’ Star Jennifer Lawrence Talks ‘Twilight,’ Kristen Stewart

Actress tells MTV News she imagines an awkward introduction with fellow book-to-movie heroine would begin with, ‘Books! Who knew?’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jennifer Lawrence Photo: MTV News For those who keep tabs on the world of best-selling young adult fiction and the big-screen adaptations that accompany them as we do, the most exciting story to come out of that world recently is the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian mega-hit, “The Hunger Games.” Naturally the biggest news was the announcement that Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence had won the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen , followed by casting news of key characters Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), then Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinkett and later, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy. MTV News was lucky enough to score a few minutes with Lawrence recently to talk all about her exciting upcoming projects, including “The Hunger Games” and “X-Men: First Class.” While discussing the huge fan-following behind the “Games” trilogy, the topic of comparisons to another popular book series-turned-box-office dominator, “Twilight,” and its leading lady, Kristen Stewart, came up. Given that “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight” have a few similarities, we asked Lawrence if she’s spoken to Stewart about the experience, or if she’d want to commiserate in any way about starring in hugely popular book-to-movie franchises. “No, I haven’t spoken to her,” Lawrence said, and then playfully acted out a little pantomime scene of what might happen if and when the two ever do meet. To do so, Lawrence used a series of incomprehensible grunts and gestures that could be loosely translated as, “Hi, how are you? You’re in those movies. You are, too. Cool.” “I don’t really know what we’d say,” Lawrence admitted. “[We’d] just be like [gestures to an invisible book in her hand], ‘Books! Who knew?’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Jennifer Lawrence in a Bikini for GQ of the Day

I’ve never heard of this Jennifer Lawrence before, I just assumed she was related to Martin Lawrence and Joey Lawrence, riding her last name to the top, but it turns out she’s already got an Oscar nomination under her belt, and I’m just too ignorant and not into movies called Winter’s Bone, even though you think that’d be the first movie I bought tickets to, if I bought tickets, based on the name alone…and now she’s in something called The Beaver, another movie you’d think I’d see based on the name alone, leading me to think she’s onto some clever scam to get perverts into her based on the movie she’s been choosing… and luckily for you, you can see the outline of her beaver in a bikini for GQ….obvious tie in, but what the fuck do you want from me, all this celebrity shit is like a horrible re-run that never ends, different name, different pussy, same hustle….luckily it is half naked. It keeps me watching… To See The Rest of the Pictures FOLLOW THIS LINK

Petey Pablo Pleads Guilty To Gun Charges, Faces Up To 10 Years In Jail

Rapper was arrested in September for trying to board a plane with a firearm. By MTV News staff Petey Pablo Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage North Carolina rapper Petey Pablo faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to gun charges from trying to board a plane with a firearm on September 11, 2010, according to The Associated Press. According to original reports, Pablo (born Moses Barrett III) was arrested when security at Raleigh-Durham International Airport found a Smith & Wesson 639 in his carry-on luggage. According to reports, the rapper was on his way to Los Angeles to attend the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Pablo claimed he didn’t know the gun was in the bag but was still charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and attempting to take a gun onto an aircraft. On Wednesday, the rapper — who is best known for his singles “Raise Up” and “Freek-a-Leek” — reached an agreement and pleaded guilty to the possession of a stolen firearm charge. The remaining two charges were dropped and the rapper faces sentencing in June. Prior to making his rap debut, Pablo served six years of a 14-year jail bid for armed robbery. In 2001, he released his debut album, Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry, and saw the LP’s single “Raise Up” peak at #25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Three years later in 2004, he once again rose to prominence thanks to his hit single “Freek-a-Leek” (#7 on the Hot 100) from his sophomore album Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry. That same year, Pablo appeared on R&B singer Ciara’s breakout single “Goodies.” He reappeared with a meager hit in “Show Me the Money,” a song from the soundtrack to the 2006 film “Step Up,” but Pablo has made little to no musical noise since.

‘Hunger Games’ Experts Weigh In On Jennifer Lawrence’s Casting

‘In ‘Winter’s Bone,’ you can see that she can handle anything that’s thrown at her,’ Down With the Capitol’s Theresa Morgan tells MTV News. By Amy Wilkinson Jennifer Lawrence Photo: Dan Kitwood/Getty Images On Thursday, MTV News exclusively revealed that Jennifer Lawrence had landed the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian thriller “The Hunger Games.” The announcement capped months of speculation regarding who would enter the arena as District 12’s female tribute. It seemed nearly every actress under the age of 25 had auditioned for the role, including fellow Oscar nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin. Now that fans know Jennifer will carry Katniss’ bow and arrow, reactions — largely mixed — have been flooding the internet. The chief gripe from some is that the tall, blond 20-year-old doesn’t resemble the novel’s scrappy 16-year-old heroine described as olive-skinned and dark-haired. “People are like, ‘She shouldn’t be Katniss because she looks wrong,’ ” said Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West. “Other people are telling them, ‘Hey, acting is more important, and she’s an amazing actress, so we should keep our minds open for the movie.’ ” To wit, many Jennifer supporters cite the actress’ performance in the Oscar-nominated “Winter’s Bone” as reason enough for her to take up residence in Panem. “She’s extremely talented,” said Down With the Capitol administrator Theresa Morgan. “In ‘Winter’s Bone,’ you can see that she can handle anything that’s thrown at her.” Age is also a factor working in Jennifer’s favor. Though she’s four years older than the novel’s heroine, The Hob administrator Megan Scott said an older actress is needed to portray the older-than-her-years Katniss. “Some people don’t like it that she’s a little bit older. Personally, I think it’s great,” Scott said. “I think she needs to bring maturity to the role.” The fact that the novel’s author gave Jennifer her seal of approval has assured many fans that the fate of “The Hunger Games” is in good hands. “Jennifer’s just an incredible actress,” Collins said. “So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave. I never thought we’d find somebody this perfect for the role. And I can’t wait for everyone to see her play it.” And, as many YA enthusiasts may recall, fans were initially hesitant to accept Robert Pattinson in the role of “Twilight” leading man Edward Cullen, and now Twilighters can’t imagine anyone else as their vampire hero. The true test will come when “The Hunger Games” hits theaters March 23, 2012. What do you think about Jennifer playing Katniss in “The Hunger Games”? Tell us in the comments below!
