When it comes to those who have been critical of her weight, Jennifer Lopez has the same message as Jennifer Lawrence : Shut the eff up! In an interview with Cosmos for Latinas , the actress says she’s always remained strong in the face of criticism… but it hasn’t been easy. “Early on, my family really made me love who I was and what I looked like,”J. Lo tells the magazibe. “My body was nothing out of the ordinary in my neighborhood. “When I first started on television [as a Fly Girl on In Living Color ], people, and even my own manager at the time, would tell me I had to make all of these changes. But you have to stand up and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with me or my shape or who I am, you’re the one with the problem!'” Amen, Jen! The American Idol judge goes on to say it’s all about self-confidence, something she hopes young women around the world learn for themselves. “When you can really believe that,” she says, “all of a sudden other people start believing too.” Of course, it also helps to have a strong, supportive family. Lopez understands that and gives thanks for that. “I love the family that I grew up in, the strength and passion and the heart that we bring to things and then the way I was raised – the intense love we demonstrate,” she says.
