The Social Network’s Michael De Luca: ‘We’ve Kind of Thought of Ourselves as an Underdog from the Beginning’

With eight nominations , perhaps The Social Network isn’t the slam dunk runaway Best Picture favorite everyone thought it was, but that doesn’t mean producer Michael De Luca ( Boogie Nights , Magnolia ) is disappointed with what transpired this morning. In fact, trailing The King’s Speech and True Grit in total noms just plays into Team Social Network ‘s wheelhouse.

Andre 3000 Pops Up On Ke$ha’s ‘Sleazy’ Remix

Outkast MC freshens up the pop star’s Cannibal cut with rare feature. By Mawuse Ziegbe Andre 3000 Photo: Michael Buckner/Getty Images It seems the only way to find spankin’-new Andre 3000 lyrics these days is on the odd remix, and the ATLien definitely picked a left-of-center choice for his latest feature. On Friday (January 14), a remix of Ke$ha’s Cannibal track “Sleazy” hit the Web, outfitted with some brand-new bars from the elusive Outkast MC. The southern spitter uses the revamp to muse about a young kid dealing with a deadbeat dad over the song’s bouncy thump. “We start out so cute in our baby pictures/ That mama shot for our daddy so that he wouldn’t forget you/ He forgot anyway, but hey, one day he’ll remember/ If not, he’s human, I’m human, you human, we’ll forgive him,” he spits. After sounding off about daddy issues, Stacks then rhymes about his playful relationship with the glitter-friendly poptress. “I call her Keisha, she like it because it’s hood to her/ She call me Andre 6000 because I’m good to her,” he says. The remix follows a slew of random guest appearances on records by everyone from DJ Unk to Rich Boy as fans await another full-length release from ‘Dre. Back in 2008, the Love Below lyricist broke down his affinity for jumping on the occasional remix to MTV News , explaining that cooking up another quality solo record is no easy task. “I’ve been doing remixes here and there, and let me tell you, thank God for remixes. I wanna tell everybody who’s been checking out the remixes and things like the John Legend song [‘Green Light’]: In this day and age, those are the things that have kind of been keeping me alive. Because it takes me awhile to record albums,” he said. “I have to kind of build up something to say.” What do you think of Andre 3000’s verse on Ke$ha’s “Sleazy” remix? Let us know in the comments! Nicki Minaj To Perform On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Jesse Eisenberg will host the January 29 episode; Linkin Park and Dana Carvey lined up for February 5 show. By James Dinh Nicki Minaj Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Nicki Minaj has been tapped as the musical guest for an upcoming episode of “Saturday Night Live.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Young Money MC will join “Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg, who will serve as host, for the show’s January 29 broadcast. THR also reported that Linkin Park will perform during the February 5 episode, which is set to feature hosting duties from former “SNL” castmember Dana Carvey. Known for her out-of-the-box fashion and manic rhymes, Minaj will likely perform her new single, “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake, as she brought the tune to her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” earlier this week. Eisenberg’s and Minaj’s upcoming appearance marks the first time for both on the sketch show. “SNL” isn’t the only treat Minaj has up her sleeve for her fans. Minaj recently teamed up with Rihanna to shoot the music video for another one of the MC’s new singles, “Fly.” When E! News asked about the concept for the upcoming clip, Nicki remained tight-lipped, saying, “We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video, and that’s all I can say about that.” However, it was the duo’s TwitPics that sent the Internet ablaze when rumors circulated that Nicki and Rihanna were living together . The MC took to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to clear the air. “I don’t know where people got this really insane, hilarious, random rumor that she and I were living together,” she said. “We just shot the video for a song I have on the album I have called ‘Fly,’ and when I saw her, the first thing I said was, ‘So, did you hear we’re living together?’ and we just started cracking up laughing. She was like, ‘Yo, I can’t believe that people are, like, this ridiculous. So we Twit-Pic’d ourselves, and she put it on Twitter and said ‘Me and Nicki at our new pad’ or something.” Are you excited for Nicki’s “SNL” debut? Tell us what you think! Jesse Eisenberg on Zombieland 2, Good Sequels and Missing John Ritter

Last week I met actor Jesse Eisenberg for a lengthy discussion of subjects ranging from his coming-of-age in the New York theater to his beloved Zombieland and his awards-season prospects for The Social Network. We covered a lot of ground, which I’ll be retracing this week in a five-part series here at Movieline. And so we arrive, sadly, at the end of our five-part journey with Jesse Eisenberg. By the time the actor and I reached this point, the done-to-death The Social Network had given way to… well, quite a few subjects. Let’s just say that in this last installment of our bar-side conversation, it’s a movie-reference blowout: The Godfather , Jurassic Park , all six Star Wars films and three Lord of the Rings films, among others, made the cut. We also discussed the pending progress of Zombieland 2 and Eisenberg’s surprising affection for the star of Three’s Company .
