At least, that’s what it seems like from the preview that ABC released of his upcoming Nightline interview, in which, for the first time since cheating allegations broke, James responds to claims that he stepped out on Sandra Bullock — America’s Sweetheart, new mother, loving wife — with a nonchalant “yup.”

Poor Jesse James is finally opening up and telling his side of the story. The story of his cheating on, lying and deceiving Sandra Bullock. It makes him really sad, okay?! ABC released its first teaser of its Nightline and Good Morning America interviews with James, set to air Tuesday, and America’s Most Hated needed a sec to cry it out. “I took a pretty amazing life and amazing success and marriage … and threw it away by my own hands,” says James, choked up. “Let me take a break for a second.” Dude actually gets up from his chair. It’s hilarious. How interviewer Vicki Mabrey responds is unclear as Nightline doesn’t want to give too much away. The minute long clip below shows more questions than answers. She does ask James how he feels about the Oscar speech by Sandra Bullock , when she said, “I never knew what it was like for someone to have my back until you.” Little did she know he was tapping the backside of Michelle McGee several times a day for awhile. Embattled, cheating husband Jesse James is not contesting Sandra Bullock’s divorce filing, nor her desire to raise adopted baby son Louis on her own. We’ll never be accused of sympathy for James after the seed spreading he did, but if there ever were a case of a publicist hijacking a story, this is it. According to reports, Jesse James was right by Sandra Bullock’s side when she posed with the baby boy for her huge People photo shoot and story. Not only was James present, he was “incredible with both Sandra and Louis” and created a “healthy, loving and positive atmosphere” throughout. The story was released along with Bullock’s first comments about James’ affairs with Michelle McGee et al., basically glossing over his involvement. Sure, People and Sandra Bullock sort of screwed him over, but Jesse James made his own bed, now he must lay in it. Or get laid by Michelle McGee in it. Also interestingly, the photos were taken March 9 – two days after the Oscars, and just a few days before the Jesse James cheating scandal first broke. Photographers were seen carrying baby clothes into Bullock’s house that day, although no explanation (or announcement of the baby) was provided. Sandra was apparently oblivious to Jesse’s alleged affairs when the pictures were snapped. Fast forward a month and a half, and voila, cover story. The question: Are there photos of James and Louis People just scrapped?

Today, word broke of the next project from director Andrew Dominik (of the woefully underseen The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford ): an adaptation of the Joyce Carol Oates novel Blonde , with Naomi Watts set to star as Marilyn Monroe. There’s only one problem: Michelle Williams is also about to play the silver screen bombshell in Simon Curtis’s My Night with Marilyn . So, we put it to you: if only one of these projects gets the go-ahead, which Marilyn would you like to see?
