Jesus take the wheel… Mother And Infant Child Bleed To Death On Roadside As Drivers Pass By A wife and mother of two young children has sadly lost her life along with her infant son after they were struck by a truck while riding on a family motorcycle inside of a highway tunnel in Jaipur, India. via Hindustan Times In a shocking case of public apathy, a man lay on the road crying for help inside a tunnel next to the bodies of his wife and infant daughter with nobody stopping by for around 40 minutes after a speeding truck hit his motorcycle. The 26-year-old woman and the eight-month-old infant who were run over by the truck died inside the newly opened Ghat Ki Guni tunnel in Jaipur on Sunday while the man and his son escaped with minor injuries. Police said the injured husband kept crying for help for around 40 minutes but the motorists ignored their cries and every vehicle passed by without stopping delaying prompt medical treatment. CCTV footages showed that the woman’s husband and his four-year-old son beseeched passers-by for help for almost 10 minutes. However, no one stopped to help them, police said. The accident victims were attended to only when a staffer of a toll booth noticed the crying husband and his son inside the tunnel on a CCTV monitor. “Kanhaiya Lal along with his 26-year old wife Guddi, four-year- old son Tanish and eight-month-old Arushi was on his way to in-laws’ house in Luniawas village from their house in Thikariya village yesterday when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle 300 metres inside the tunnel,” police said on Monday. Apparently, it’s common for a family of four to travel on a two-wheeler in this country, although travel through this particular tunnel is banned. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family.
Somebody has got some ‘splainin’ to do… Via NYDailyNews 2nd Victim In Boston Marathon Blast Misidentified As Survivor Friend A heartbroken dad whose daughter was killed in the Boston Marathon bombings had to endure a second shockwave of terror: doctors initially confused his daughter’s identity with a friend who survived. “We had the doctors come out and tell us everything they did (on the survivor) — and it wasn’t our daughter,” said William Campbell Jr. 56. The tragic turn of events began Monday when Krystle Campbell, 29, of Medford, Mass. was watching the marathon with the friend, Karen Rand, to cheer on Rand’s boyfriend. The pair were caught in the first blast at 2:20 p.m., and for hours, William Campbell and his wife believed doctors were operating on their daughter’s leg at Massachusetts General Hospital. Frantic tweets indicate that for hours after the blasts people believed it was Karen who was missing. The Campbells, however, believed their daughter was alive. So when nurses let the Campbells into an intensive care room at around 2 a.m. to visit their “daughter,” the family was stunned to see the recuperating patient was, in fact, Karen. Oopsie-daisy… “I said, ‘That’s not my daughter, that’s Karen! Where’s my daughter?’ The doctors were as shocked as we were,” Campbell said. Within an hour a Boston detective arrived and showed them a photo of their daughter — one of three killed in the terror attack. “I almost passed out on the floor, Campbell recalled Tuesday, moments before leaving for a viewing of his daughter’s body. The devastated dad said Krystle, a manager at Jimmy’s Steer House, was “a dream.” “She was the best person you’d ever meet. She helped everybody,” Campbell said. “I don’t who care you were, she was always there.” His grief mixed with rage. “I’m very angry. I hope they catch the bastard and fry him,” Campbell said. Youth Pastor In Texas Arrested For Sex Abuse In Hot Tub With Teen Via CBS DFW-Local A former North Texas youth pastor has been accused of having an improper contact with a 16-year old girl. Garland police arrested Joshua Earls earlier this week. Investigators confirmed that Earls, 28, had been the youth pastor at Arapaho Baptist Church for about four years. He resigned from the position in July of 2012. Garland police spokesman Officer Joe Harn said, “We don’t know all the reasoning behind his resignation, but yes, we just recently found out about this case.” David Alvey, a spokesperson for Arapaho Road Baptist Church, says church leaders weer shocked to learn about the allegations two weeks ago. He says the girl’s family is devastated. “It’s very painful, very painful. They’re hurting. This was a sacred trust that was betrayed.” Police say the girl’s parents discovered the problem when they found inappropriate pictures on her cell phone. In an affidavit, police say during a bible study swim party last April or May, Earls was sitting next to the girl in a hot tub when he grabbed her hand and put it in his swim trunks. Detectives say the current accusations are part of an active investigation, but they worry other children, who were preyed on, have not come forward. “The church is in the process and has started this week in contacting and letting parents and youth know what has gone on,” Harn explained. “Detectives do suspect that there are other victims.” As it stands, police believe any possible victims were all female and under the age of 17. Apparently perverts run in the family… In addition to Joshua Earls, detectives are now calling his younger brother, Jordan Earls, a person of interest in the cases. Police say they have some questions for Jordan Earls, 24, about other possible inappropriate contact with children at Arapaho Baptist. Jordan Earls now lives in South Carolina, but when he resided in North Texas was listed as an adult volunteer at the church. Jordan Earls is currently in jail on unrelated charge. Imagine these up your… Eel Removed From Man’s Colon Via HuffPo reports: A man in China’s southeastern Guangdong province admitted himself to a local hospital after he reportedly got a live eel stuck inside him. According to British tabloid The Sun, the man inserted the 20-inch-long Asian swamp eel into his anus after seeing it done in a porn movie, and he had to endure all-night surgery to have it extracted. According to a HuffPost translation of a blogger’s post on Chinese message board forum Mop.com, the eel reportedly chewed through the man’s colon, perforating his large intestine, and became stuck in his body cavity. A graphic X-ray image (seen below) shows how far inside the eel was when the man came in for treatment. Medical team members reportedly said the eel, which was “simply trying to find its way out,” was alive when removed but died shortly thereafter. According to The Sun, the man is still recovering at the hospital and might face animal cruelty charges. The Asian swamp eel — also known as the rice eel or rice paddy eel — is a snake-shaped fish that is commonly sold live at food markets in East Asian countries. Although this type of eel is known as an invasive species in parts of the United States, this isn’t the first time that it’s made its way into (ahem) foreign habitats. He was trying to cop a f- eel.
You cannot possibly be serious… Phoenix Man Kills Wife And Son Because He Thought He Gave Them AIDS Via PhoenixNewTimes Eugene Maraventano, a 64-year-old Goodyear resident, told police this weekend that he stabbed his wife and son to death and failed to kill himself after multiple tries over the course of the next four days. “I killed my wife and I killed my son; I can’t kill myself,” Maraventano told a 911 dispatcher, according to court documents obtained by New Times. Maraventano told the dispatcher that he stabbed them both to death and added that his wife had cancer, according to the documents. Police arrived at the house and found Maraventano covered with blood and with wounds to his chest. He was taken to a hospital, and police found the bodies of his wife and son in different rooms of the house. Maraventano was interviewed at the hospital, where he started by saying he used to live in New York, where he “frequented with prostitutes.” He thought he may have contracted HIV or another disease and passed it on to his wife, Janet. Janet started to get sick recently, so Maraventano thought his wife might have had cancer or possibly something he gave her. Since tests showed she didn’t have cancer, that only left one option, in Maraventano’s mind — though it’s not clear why he told the dispatcher that his wife had cancer. Of course that is the only logical answer…SMH Maraventano said he made the decision to kill his wife about two weeks ago. He’d debated using a knife or buying a gun. He settled on the knife, even though, he said, he’s “not a violent person,” according to court documents. Four days earlier, while his wife was sleeping, he finally acted, stabbing her twice, he said. Maraventano also decided to kill his son, Bryan, because he “plays video games all day, has no girlfriend, and must be handicap[ped] because he can’t get a job.” Maraventano went down the hallway and knocked on Bryan’s door. It’s finally time for Shaniya Davis’ accused killer to face a judge and jury! Via The Fayetteville Observer : The father of Shaniya Davis says he has forgiven her mother. But Bradley Lockhart said he often finds himself reflecting on what might have been, four years after Shaniya was sexually assaulted and killed in a case that has attracted national attention. Shaniya would have turned 9 on Valentine’s Day. “We were extremely close,” Lockhart said. “Shaniya spent the majority of time with me and her siblings. You miss those days. The first day she got on a bicycle. Her brother pushing her around with training wheels on it. You miss her scratching your car with a scooter. You miss birthdays. You wonder who she would be today. “It’s extremely hard when you see other kids in the neighborhood and watch them grow up. That’s one of my frequent thoughts when I sit on my porch.” The case first captured national attention in November 2009, when the child’s mother, Antoniette Nicole Davis, reported Shaniya missing from a mobile home where they were staying off Murchison Road. The report kicked off a nationwide search involving the FBI and the U.S. Marshal’s Service. Pictures of Shaniya aired on national television shows, and Fayetteville police said they received hundreds of tips. Shaniya’s body was found six days later. Police say Davis fabricated the story about her missing child after selling Shaniya to McNeill, who allegedly assaulted her in a Sanford hotel before killing her and dumping her body along N.C. 87 in Harnett County. Davis, 28, will be tried after McNeill. She faces charges that include first-degree murder, child abuse, sexual servitude, human trafficking and child sex assault. Her trial is expected to last about a month. If convicted, Davis is looking at life in prison without parole. She is accused of handing over the child to McNeill to settle a drug debt. “I don’t know what was going through her mind at that time. I can’t give you an honest answer on that,” Lockhart said. “Would I ever have expected Antoniette to make a decision like this or did she make a decision like this? I would not have expected any mother to make a decision like this with their child. “If I had known she would have made a decision like this, Shaniya would never have been there.” Lockhart said he has not spoken to Davis since her confinement. “Me, personally, I’ve forgiven her,” he said. “I think blame is too direct, as far as personally. What are you blaming? The death of Shaniya or (Davis’) actions? It’s too broad. Too opinioned.” Lockhart spoke by phone late last month from his home in Alabama, where he says he had planned to move for a job before his daughter’s death. He works as a regional environmental safety manager for a construction company. Through the years, he has returned to Fayetteville on occasion. He said he plans to be in the courtroom for most of the trials. As far as he knows, Lockhart said, he will not be called as a witness. Following Shaniya’s murder, Lockhart received criticism for allowing his daughter to stay with Davis in Sleepy Hollow Mobile Home Park. Last month, Lockhart said he had no idea that Shaniya and her mother were living at that location with Davis’ sister. “I had given her a deposit to live in her own place. It was downtown,” he said. “I had no knowledge of that. I still don’t know why she was at the other place. Was she evicted? I don’t know.” Damn… We truly feel for this man. The capital murder trial for Mario Andrette McNeill, the man accused of killing Shaniya started today in Cumberland County Superior Court. Sadly it seems that much of mainstream national media has stopped checking for Shaniya’s story… The Observer says the court didn’t receive any requests from national cable media to cover the trial. McNeill’s charges include first-degree murder, child sex assault, kidnapping, child abuse, human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a child and he is facing the death penalty. The trial is expected to last six to eight weeks. In February, McNeill proclaimed his innocence in two handwritten letters he mailed to The Fayetteville Observer from the Cumberland County Detention Center. In one letter, he wrote: “I did not take or kidnap Shaniya Davis. I did not purchase, buy, trade, sell or exchange Shaniya Davis. I did not molest, sexually assault, rape or ravish Shaniya Davis. I did not kill, murder, or take Shaniya Davis’s life, nor did I have any prior or beforehand knowledge as to what was to and/or did occur.” Do you believe he should be put to death?
Sad news to report. According to CBS News: The Southern California church headed by popular evangelical Pastor Rick Warren says his 27-year-old son has committed suicide. Warren’s Saddleback Valley Community Church in Lake Forest, Calif., said in a statement to CBS News and other outlets Saturday that Matthew Warren had struggled with mental illness and deep depression. “Despite the best healthcare available, this was an illness that was never fully controlled and the emotional pain resulted in his decision to take his life,” the statement said. “We ask everyone to join us in praying for the entire Warren family,” the statement continued, “and that God’s comfort and peace will be with them as they deal with this difficult situation.” Warren, the author of “The Purpose Driven Life,” said in an email to church staff that he and his wife had enjoyed a fun Friday evening with their son. But Matthew Warren took his life Saturday after “a momentary wave of despair at his home.” Church spokeswoman Kristin Cole said he died Friday night. Over the years, Matthew Warren had been treated by Americas best doctors, had received counseling and medication and been the recipient of numerous prayers from others, his father said. Still, he struggled over the years. “I’ll never forget how, many years ago, after another approach had failed to give relief, Matthew said `Dad, I know I’m going to heaven. Why can’t I just die and end this pain?”‘ Warren recalled. Warren is the author of numerous books and was named the top newsmaker of the year for 2009 by the Religion Newswriters Association, gaining attention with his invocation at President Barack Obama’s inauguration that year. In 2008, the church sponsored a presidential forum with Obama and Republican Sen. John McCain. Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney had been invited to a similar forum last fall, but Warren canceled it, saying the campaign had become too uncivil. As Saddleback has grown over the years, it has spread out from its Lake Forest headquarters, 65 miles southeast of Los Angeles, adding several other campuses and ministries around Southern California. The church says it now offers more than 200 community ministries and support groups for parents, families, children, couples, prisoners, addicts, and people living with HIV, depression and other illnesses.
