According to The Daily Mail : A woman has managed to incite a riot on Reddit after she allegedly left the following ‘tip’ after dining at an expensive restaurant: ‘Single mom, sorry.’ The waiter’s friend and fellow server posted a photograph of the receipt, blasting the woman for blaming motherhood for her lack of social graces and general decency add then adding ‘Thank you, it was great’ at the bottom. ‘I’m sure $140 could have gotten you and your kids a week worth of groceries, but instead you spend it one meal?!’ Redditor PhoenixSongFawkes wrote. ‘For shame!’ Many people said that the woman should not have gone out to eat if she couldn’t afford the gratuity. PhoenixSongFawkes said he and his friend get bad tips all the time, but this one really enraged him. ‘The point is, it doesn’t matter if she tipped or not. The point of this post was that her writing ‘sorry single mom’ was unnecessary,’ he wrote. ‘It was to show that someone was ridiculous enough to come into a place, and use the fact that their a single mom to not tip. Then to say everything was great… There are many times we only get a few tables at night. We depend on those big tickets to make money.’ He also called the note ‘insulting’ and ‘disrespectful,’ especially coming from someone who claims to live on a budget and should understand the plight of the waiter, who makes little more than $2 an hour. Some 700,000 homes and businesses had already lost power, while schools, offices, roads and transit systems shut down across an area of 50 million people. Hundreds of thousands earlier sought shelter on higher ground. “This is going to be a slow-moving process through a wide swath of the country and millions are going to be affected,” President Barack Obama said Monday after being briefed on Sandy. Estimated landfall was moved up to within the next hour along southern New Jersey or central Delaware after Sandy, which had been moving toward the coast at 18 mph, sped up to 28 mph. The storm’s maximum sustained winds were 90 miles per hour and its center was 30 miles east-southeast of Cape May, N.J., according to the National Hurricane Center’s 5 p.m. ET update. Sandy is bringing a storm surge as high as 11 feet to New York Harbor and Long Island Sound, and smaller surges from Delaware through Connecticut. According to The Huffington Post : The Eastern seaboard may have yet to experience the full wrath of Hurricane Sandy, but one right-wing Christian preacher is already pointing the finger at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In a wordy and occasionally rambling blog on his website, chaplain John McTernan seems to link Hurricane Sandy (and a number of other recent weather-related trends and natural disasters) on LGBT people and President Barack Obama’s recent backing of marriage equality. While most of McTernan’s wrath is directed at Obama, he has some choice words for GOP candidate Mitt Romney, too. “God is systematically destroying America,” McTernan writes. “Just look at what has happened this year.” Calling Sandy “the most powerful hurricane on record” that “could do catastrophic damage to the entire Northeast,” McTernan adds, “Obama is 100 percent behind the Muslim Brotherhood which has vowed to destroy Israel and take Jerusalem. Both candidates are pro-homosexual and are behind the homosexual agenda. El Diablo! A Colombian couple claims they’re living in fear that they may have given birth to an Epitome of a Bad Seed . According to UK Daily Mail reports : Black magic and evil spirits have captured the soul of a new-born baby in Colombia who can apparently already walk by himself and produce fire, his own mother has claimed. Ana Feria Santos gave birth to her son last month but says her joy quickly turned to fear when she noticed that he had ‘several abnormalities’ – leading to fears in her community that he is the ‘devil in disguise’. She says the boy can already stand up and walk – quite a feat for a child of just four weeks. Much like the 1976 horror film The Omen , the mother-of-five says he frequently hides around the house, cackles in an ‘adult’ way for hours on end and has an ‘intimidating’ pair of eyes. She told the RCN Radio station: ‘He walks like an adult, sometimes going off and hiding underneath the bed, in a suitcase, in the washing machine or in the fridge.’ Her neighbors in the town of Lorica, near the Caribbean coast, also say he is possessed by a ‘malign spirit’ and that he is capable of producing fire. This, they say, is because burn marks have been found on his clothes and a sofa where he regularly sits. It has led to vigilante attacks on Santos and her taxi-driver husband Óscar Palencia López’s house, which is allegedly being pelted with stones on a nightly-basis by frightened residents. But the 28-year-old’s story has not been believed by doctors, who have now launched an investigation into the possibility that the new-born could have been abused. The Colombian Family Welfare Institute, the National Police and the Catholic Church have also all refused to assert the claims that black magic is involved. A team of psychologists, a social worker, a nutritionist and a lawyer will now look into the case, with a source saying: ‘The child shows signs of abuse. ‘Two small burns were found on the palm of the left hand and for that reason a restoration measure was adopted to [safeguard] the family environment. ‘The parents received a warning while the facts are being clarified.’ What would Sweet Brown Say about this? According to NBC News: A suicide bomber drove a vehicle packed with explosives into a Catholic church in northern Nigeria on Sunday, killing at least five people, wounding nearly 100 and triggering reprisal attacks that killed at least two more, officials said. The bomber drove a jeep right inside the packed St Rita’s church, in the Malali area of Kaduna, a volatile ethnically and religiously mixed city, in the morning. “I cannot tell you how many casualties, but there were many. The heavy explosion also damaged so many buildings around the area,” said survivor Linus Lighthouse, saying he thought there had been two explosions in different parts of the church. Other witnesses and the police said there had just been one bomber however. A spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Kaduna said that five people had been confirmed killed, while 98 people were receiving treatment for wounds at two local hospitals. There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Islamist sect Boko Haram has claimed similar attacks in the past and has attacked several churches with bombs and guns since it intensified its campaign against Christians in the past year. One wall of the church was blasted open and scorched black, with debris lying around. Police later moved in and cordoned the area off. Shortly after the blast, angry Christian youths took to the streets armed with sticks and knives. A Reuters reporter saw two bodies on the roadside lying in pools of blood. “We killed them and we’ll do more,” shouted a youth, with blood on his shirt, before police chased him and his cohorts away. Police set up roadblocks and patrols across town in an effort to prevent the violence spreading. Another witness, Daniel Kazah, a member of the Catholic cadets in the church, said he had seen three bodies on the bloodied church floor after the bomb. “But still others were taken to the mortuary,” he said. An emergency worker on the scene, who had helped move casualties but was not authorized to give his name, estimated the total number of dead and wounded at around 30.
Doctor Cleared Of Negligence After Pregnant Woman Catches On Fire During C-Section A jury has decided that a New York doctor was not to blame for a pregnant woman catching on fire while he was performing a c-section to deliver her baby. via Fox News A jury has decided that a Syracuse doctor isn’t to blame for an operating-room mishap that caused a pregnant woman to catch fire during a cesarean section delivery. Kira Reed suffered a 7-inch-long burn on her side two years ago when an alcohol-based antiseptic applied to her skin was accidentally ignited by a medical device. The fire was out quickly and her baby was fine, but she sued over the injury. Reed reached an out-of-court settlement with the hospital, but The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that a jury rejected a negligence claim this week against obstetrician Stephen Brown. Wow. SMH @ this man shooting somebody at the church and then going to the mall like nothing happened. An arrest has been made and more is now known about the shooting at Creflo Dollar’s Atlanta church Wednesday and it’s likely to get you heated about the failures of our justice system. Via Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports : A man arrested Wednesday and charged with the fatal shooting of a prayer leader at World Changers Church International pleaded guilty to shooting a man a decade ago in Baltimore and was committed to a mental health facility there. Floyd Palmer, 52, calmly walked into a prayer service Wednesday morning at the College Park megachurch founded by the Rev. Creflo Dollar and opened fire as 20 to 25 people watched in horror. Greg McDowell, 39, fell mortally wounded and Palmer, a former church employee, “left just as calmly” as he entered, Fulton County police spokeswoman Cpl. Kay Lester said. The suspect left in a black Subaru station wagon and was in the vortex of a massive police search until he was arrested without incident at Lenox Square in Buckhead just before 4 p.m. Palmer, who resigned from the church in August for personal reasons, had been charged previously with attempted murder. In 2004 he pleaded guilty to assault charges and was deemed “not criminally responsible” and was committed, according to Maryland court records. Other records indicate that shooting occurred in 2001. Christine Singleterry, Palmer’s former mother-in-law, said Palmer shot a man following an argument at a Baltimore mosque. “He got him to go outside and then shot him in the parking lot,” said Singleterry. She said he served about 18 months in the mental facility and was released. She said the victim remains paralyzed. Singleterry said her daughter, who is now deceased, divorced Palmer in the 1990s because he was abusive. They had two daughters who are now grown. “He was mixed up and argumentative,” she said. Family members said he moved to Atlanta several years ago. Mack Simpson, who is married to Palmer’s sister, was shocked to hear the news. “That’s a shame,” he said. “This is the second time.” McDowell, a father of two young children, was a member of the church’s production crew and a facilities maintenance manager there, police said. Karen Webb, who had taken her mother to the church for Bible study, said she was told the victim was shot six times. “I brought my mother up here to go to church — every Wednesday she attends Bible study. As soon as we get here I’m told someone has been shot,” Webb said. “He was one of the praise leaders.” Dollar, a popular televangelist, started World Changers Ministries in 1986 with eight members, holding services in the cafeteria of a local elementary school, according to the church’s website. Its campus now occupies 81 acres, with services held in the 8,500-seat World Dome. Dollar is a regular on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Attempts to reach Dollar were unsuccessful. Ken Terry, a pastor at the church, called McDowell a “tremendous leader, role model and father.” He said McDowell had been a longtime member of the church. “He was faithful for a number of years. We have known him for years. Since he was a little kid.” Terry spoke of McDowell’s two sons. “He spent a tremendous amount of time with them. He was the model dad.” McDowell was described as an uplifting man, as evidenced by postings on his Facebook site. In 2010, McDowell wrote, “One of the most valuable assets we can possess is a positive attitude towards our lives. Your attitude is one of the first things people notice when they come in contact with you. Make it good.” Another time, he wrote, “Life’s too short not to enjoy it.” This man was allowed free after shooting someone, injuring him so badly that he was paralyzed and then he took a good man off this earth and away from his family? Aw hell naw. Somebody gotta pay. What the fawk is going on with our justice system that this is allowed to happen time and time again. It’s beyond time to get tough on violent convicts. SMH.
