A Brooklyn teen died from his injuries last night nearly two weeks after he was chased down by a mob of 10 young men who punched, stomped and bashed him with a bicycle, police said. Johnny Santiago, 17, was beaten on an East New York streetcorner in what police sources described as a gang feud. The June 6 attack left him brain dead. He passed away at Brookdale University Hospital yesterday, police said. Santiago lived in East New York. He had gang ties and a short rap sheet of collars for serious crimes – robbery and weapons possession, the sources said. His family could not be reached Friday night. Police got a 911 call about 10:30 p.m. on June 6 for an assault in progress near the corner of Van Siclen and Wortman Aves. It is an area notorious for gang activity, the sources said. Detectives are investigating Santiago’s death, but the motive for the vicious gang beatdown was not revealed last night. The cause of Santiago’s death has yet to be determined. There have been no arrests. How does the police department know that this young man was beaten by 10 men, specifically, but have made no arrests? Either way another life has been lost to nonsense. Authorities in Nigeria revealed their recent bust of a “baby factory” located in the southern city of Aba, where the owner of a clinic known as The Cross Foundation was harboring pregnant girls with plans to sell their newborns into the country’s human trafficking and sex trade markets. According to Agence France-Presse, some of the girls (who ranged in age from 15 to 17-years-old) told police that the clinic’s owner Dr. Hyacinth Orikara forced them to sell their infants to him for less than $200 depending on the sex of the baby. The women were taken to the regional headquarters of an anti-trafficking organization. “We rescued 32 pregnant girls and arrested the proprietor who is undergoing interrogation over allegations that he normally sells the babies to people who may use them for rituals or other purposes,” police commissioner Bala Hassan said. Rituals??? These motherfu*kers are truly DERANGED!!! As wild as this may sound to us, baby factories/baby farms are reportedly common in western Africa, and according to UN numbers, human trafficking is the third most common crime in Nigeria after fraud and drug trafficking. In cases such as this, baby farms sell the newborns to the highest bidder and the children are used for work in factories and mines or as sex slaves. Dr. Orikara has denied the charges, telling Nigeria’s Daily Champion newspaper that the clinic simply cared for teenagers with unwanted pregnancies. According to TMZ reports : Social workers from the LA County Department of Children and Family Services will arrive at Mariah Carey’s house any moment to conduct a formal interview with the singer — after receiving an anonymous complaint that she drank a beer while breast feeding … TMZ has learned. DCFS launched the investigation after someone complained Mariah drank a Guinness in the hospital after giving birth to her twins about a month ago. We’re told DCFS social workers will ask Mariah about the widely reported incident and interview others in the house as well. The investigation is curious because hospital workers were closely monitoring Mariah and fully saw what was going on in her room. Sources tell us someone from the hospital told Mariah it would be beneficial to drink a dark beer — like a Guinness — to assist her in lactating. We’re told Mariah took the advice and drank a Guinness and in no way hid what she was doing from hospital staff — assuming it was fine to do. Several people connected with DCFS are privately critical of the agency for honing in on anonymous tips against celebrities … and devoting “extensive resources” when the agency should be looking at serious cases of abuse. President Barack Obama and his family attended the Easter Sunday service at Shiloh Baptist Church, which was founded by freed slaves in 1863. The first family entered the church to a standing ovation, then joined in singing with the choir, backed by a live band that included a guitar, keyboard and drums. Rev. Wallace Charles Smith welcomed the Obamas, noting the congregants pray for them every Sunday. At collection time, Obama and his daughters gave money in envelopes provided at their seats. The first family left after two hours, as the service approached its conclusion. The president and his family have attended services occasionally since moving to the White House in January 2009. SMH A 61-year-old Bronx man was stomped to death in front of his home early yesterday when he got mixed up in a fight between a crazed man and a woman, police said. Quentin Guerrero, 61, was attacked at 1:30 a.m. in front of 480 E. 138th St. in Mott Haven by ex-con Kendall Major, 35, and his girlfriend, Tosheba Alford, 20, authorities said. “It was brutal. It was terrible,” said a 47-year-old livery cabdriver who tried to break up the fight. “There were a lot of people watching from their windows and no one was doing anything.” Oscar Porata, 58, who lives on the block, said: “I heard a loud thump, like someone hitting the floor, and that’s when I looked out and saw someone unconscious on the ground.” The couple was in a cab when they started arguing and hopped out near where Guerrero was standing, sources said. When Guerrero, a former Verizon technician, tried to speak with Alford, things turned sour, the sources added. Alford attacked Guerrero and Major kicked him repeatedly, said the cabby. Guerrero was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he died. Major and Alford, who live together in Far Rockaway, Queens, were charged with murder. We’re glad that the police charged both of these two with the murder. We’ve heard a lot of ignorant behavior in our day, but this sh*t right here… Source

This is so sad. Another young mother and her children have been killed. This time in Rockford, Ill: An adult and two children found dead inside a burning northwest-side home Sunday were fatally shot before the fire. The autopsies, performed today by the Winnebago County coroner’s office, confirmed Rockford police detectives’ and fire inspectors’ suspicions. “It appears the fire was started to cover up the homicides,” Deputy Chief Greg Lindmark said. Firefighters responded at 4:30 a.m. Sunday to 2708 Canterbury Lane for a residential structure fire. They extinguished the blaze and found a body inside the residence. Further investigation by the Rockford fire and police departments turned up the children’s bodies. How the beige ranch home caught fire has yet to be determined. “We’re utilizing the state crime lab, the state fire marshal, Rockford fire investigators and Rockford police detectives,” Lindmark said. While the coroner’s office is still in the process of identifying the victims through dental records, several dozen family members, co-workers and classmates stopped at the corner residence throughout the day today. They signed their names on a poster-size sympathy card hung outside the home on a chain-link fence and placed candles, stuffed animals and three makeshift crosses each bearing the name of a family member. The family and friends identified the victims as Tasha Cleary, a 12-year-son nicknamed “Mook” and a 2-year-son named Tarri. Danielle Streit and Kelly Blackwell said Cleary was their co-worker at Vision Financial, a Rockford collection agency. “She had incredible wit,” Blackwell said. “She was very funny, and she would (do anything) for those kids.” Streit added, “She was my hairdresser. She was good person. It’s just a senseless crime.” Cleary’s landlord, Lois Sallinger, said the family had rented the Canterbury Lane home since Feb. 1, 2010. Cleary planned to move at the end of the month into a home of her own. “She wanted to have her own salon in the basement to do hair,” Streit said. Neighbor Heidi Russell, 28, watched firefighters return to the scene this afternoon, venture past the yellow crime scene tape, and tote charred articles out of the house in large gray metal pails. Also a mother of two children, Russell said she hugged her 7-year-old daughter, Tessah, and 2-year-old son, Gabin, a little bit tighter than normal Sunday after learning of the deaths. “It’s really hard for me to see something like that,” she said. “Those kids didn’t even have a chance.” This sounds like it might have been personal. If you scared, say you scared. A man cleared out a mall in Massachusetts after the black umbrella he was carrying was mistaken for a rifle, MyFoxBoston.com reported. The man hasn’t been publicly identified, but he was described to police as a short white male, wearing a gray shirt carrying a “rifle.” The Burlington Mall, located north of Boston, was evacuated and closed while SWAT teams swarmed the building. However, a man who fit the description turned out to be an employee at a nearby hospital, who had stopped at the mall before work, MyFoxBoston.com reported. Mall workers said they feared a mass shooting when police told them to leave. “Cops just came in and told us to evacuate the mall. There’s a guy with a gun,” said Jose Abdul, 26, manager of a Verizon store in the mall. “I couldn’t believe it. I just legged it out of there.” Ok, now well admit this is a pretty suspect way to carry an umbrella. However, did it never occur to anyone that there was no gun handle or clip??
