Dutch police use ‘decoy Jews’ to stop anti-Semitic attacks

Dutch police are to use “decoy Jews”, by dressing law enforcers in Jewish religious dress such as skullcaps, in an effort to catch anti-Semitic attackers. Lodewijk Asscher, Amsterdam's mayor, has ordered the new decoy strategy to cut the number of verbal and physical attacks on Jews, amid fears that anti-Semitic “hate crime” is on the rise. “Jews in at least six Amsterdam neighbourhoods often cannot cross the street wearing a skullcap without being insulted, spat at or even attacked,” according to local reports. Amsterdam police already disguise officers as “decoy prostitutes, decoy gays and decoy grannies” in operations to deter street muggings and attacks on homosexuals or the city's red light district. Police in the Dutch city of Gouda have claimed the use of officers disguised as apparently frail old age pensioners has helped cut street crime. “If we receive several reports of street robbery in a certain location, we send out the granny. That soon quietens things down,” said a spokesman. Secret television recordings by the Jewish broadcasting company, Joodse Omroep, broadcast at the weekend, have shocked Amsterdam, a city which prides itself on liberalism and which is home to the Anne Frank museum. The footage showed young men, often of Muslim immigrant origin, shouting and making Nazi salutes at a rabbi when he visited different areas of the Dutch capital. added by: crystalman

Rabbi Who Outed Helen Thomas is ‘Liberal’ Who Opposed Iraq War, ‘Reevaluating’ His Views

During an interview on CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday, Rabbi David Nesenoff, known for exposing Helen Thomas’s anti-Semitic views, informed viewers that, up until now, he has has considered himself to be a liberal Democrat – who even opposed the Iraq War and supported Barack Obama – but now asserts that ” I have to really reevaluate liberal and conservative and really find out where I stand because I think I’ve been a little blind.” Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Sunday, June 13, Reliable Sources on CNN: HOWARD KURTZ: Did you have any idea when you took out that video camera and asked Helen Thomas that question that she was hostile toward Israel? RABBI DAVID NESENOFF, RABBILIVE.COM: I didn’t approach her thinking that. Now that I see a lot of things in the news, I certainly can review and see that she’s had a lot of different thoughts, but, of course, there might be anti-Israel or pro-Palestinian. That’s very different than anti-Semitic and anti-Jewish and wanting to cleanse a piece of land, so, up until this point, this is just an individual who is pro-Palestinian. People should look out for the Palestinian rights. Everybody should look out for everybody’s rights, and there’s nothing wrong with that. KURTZ: As you know, Helen Thomas has been a longtime institution here in the capital, she’s been a heroine to many female journalists, and some people are blaming you for ending her career. NESENOFF: Yeah, you know, I received about 25,000 hate mail, you know, emails, and, more shocking than even that, is the hate media I’m beginning to learn about – you know, from TV and newspapers and blogs and talk shows and entertainers, and they’re accusing me of being some right-wing ambusher, and it really rocked my world because I have to reevaluate my life and my standing in the agendas because, yeah, I’m a New York Democrat Jewish liberal supporter of Obama, donated to his candidacy for a year, said give him a chance, give him a chance, defended, watched all these liberal media, and now I have to reevaluate, I have to speak, I have to now speak to people with all different agendas because if I was part of a team where their agenda was that Israel and the Jewish people don’t have a connection – which is exactly what Helen Thomas said – there’s no connection, why are they even there- KURTZ: Well, let me interrupt you. What do you mean when you say “hate media”? I mean, obviously, you find yourself in the middle of this firestorm. Do you feel that journalists, programs, commentators have been personally unfair to you? And can you explain how? NESENOFF: You know, I find that people that don’t cover the story or people that cover the story are so upset that they don’t know what to do, so they have to attack me, maybe we’ll say he did something on purpose or he filmed it a certain way, or we’ll find out what he did in his past. I mean, they don’t know what to do with it, but why don’t they actually ask me and find out maybe I liked Helen Thomas and I was actually for the fact that she went ahead and spoke to President Bush and said watch it with the Iraq War, although now I understand – and we have to reevaluate – that maybe when she was protesting the Iraq War, I was saying that because I didn’t want our soldiers to be in harm’s way. It turns out she didn’t want the Iraqis to be in harm’s way. So we have to, kind of, I have to really reevaluate liberal and conservative and really find out where I stand because I think I’ve been a little blind.

WH Correspondents Board to Evaluate Seating Rules for Opinion Journalists

Editor’s Note : The following originally appeared at NewsBusters sister site CNSNews.com . The fallout from Helen Thomas’ controversial comments about Israel and Jews, which led to her immediate retirement on Monday, has prompted journalists covering the White House to re-evaluate the role of an opinion columnist in the White House press corps.   Thomas, 89, the so-called dean of the White House press corps, covered the White House as a news reporter for United Press International (UPI), beginning with the Kennedy administration in the early 1960s. In 2000, she left UPI to become an opinion columnist for Hearst Newspapers. She has a front row seat at the White House press gallery with her name on it.   On Friday, June 4, a video surfaced of Thomas saying (on May 27) that Israel should “get the hell out of Palestine” and that the Jews should “go home” to “Poland, Germany,” and to “America and everywhere else.” After initially apologizing for the comment, Thomas announced her immediate retirement on Monday.   The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) board issued a statement on Monday calling Thomas’ remarks “indefensible,” but the WHCA also said the matter raises legitimate questions going forward.   “[T]he incident does revive the issue of whether it is appropriate for an opinion columnist to have a front row seat in the WH briefing room,” the statement said. “That is an issue under the jurisdiction of this board.”   The WHCA will meet this week “to decide on the seating issue.”   In a separate statement on Thomas’ retirement, the WHCA board said, “Helen Thomas has had a long and distinguished career in journalism that is unrivaled, covering 10 presidents over the past 50 years.   “Along the way, she shattered many glass ceilings, including serving as the first female president of the White House Correspondents’ Association. We are saddened by her recent comments, but we commend her for a trailblazing career, and we wish her the best.”   The WHCA decides what news organizations obtain seating in the White House Brady Press Briefing Room. However, it is the White House Media Affairs office that issues credentials to reporters.   Thomas has been a long-time critic of many of Israel’s policies.   She made her most recent and career-ending comments , during the White House Jewish Heritage celebration on May 27, in an interview with Rabbi David Nesenoff of RabbiLive.com.    Thomas first said of Israelis, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine. Remember, these people are occupied and it is their land. Not Germany’s. Not Poland’s.”   The interviewer asked, “Where should they go? What should they do?”   Thomas said, “Go home.”   The interviewer asked, “Where is home?”   Thomas said, “Poland, Germany.”   The interviewer then followed up, “You’re saying Jews should go back to Poland and Germany?”   Thomas answered, “And America and everywhere else.”   The video of the interview surfaced last week. On Friday, June 4, Thomas issued a written apology.   “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians,” Thomas said. “They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.”   However, Thomas announced she was retiring effective immediately on Monday, June 7.   During Monday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs condemned Thomas’ remarks.   “I think those remarks were offensive and reprehensible,” Gibbs said. “I think she should and has apologized, because – obviously those remarks do not reflect certainly the opinion of, I assume, most of the people in here, and certainly not of the administration.”   Former George W. Bush Press Secretary Ari Fleischer and former Clinton White House counsel Lanny Davis, both Jewish, publicly called for Thomas to lose her job with Hearst Newspapers or for the WHCA to take away her front row seat.   The correspondents’ association board issued its first statement shortly after news of Thomas’ retirement.   “Helen Thomas’s comments were indefensible and the White House Correspondents Association board firmly dissociates itself from them,” the statement says. “Many in our profession who have known Helen for years were saddened by the comments, which were especially unfortunate in light of her role as a trail blazer on the White House beat.   “While Helen has not been a member of the WHCA for many years, her special status in the briefing room has helped solidify her as the dean of the White House press corps so we feel the need to speak out strongly on this matter,” the statement continued.   “We want to emphasize that the role of the WHCA is to represent the White House press corps in its dealings with the White House on coverage-related issues. We do not police the speech of our members or colleagues. We are not involved at all in issuing White House credentials, that is the purview of the White House itself,” the board added.   “But the incident does revive the issue of whether it is appropriate for an opinion columnist to have a front row seat in the WH briefing room. That is an issue under the jurisdiction of this board,” the statement continued. “We are actively seeking input from our association members on this important matter, and we have scheduled a special meeting of the WHCA board on Thursday to decide on the seating issue.”

Bozell Column: Helen’s Hate-Filled Exit

The last two presidents have been elected on the very dubious campaign promise of “changing the tone” of Washington. Either could have proven his sincerity by shredding the press credentials of the White House press corps Dean of Mean, Helen Thomas. Her tone was nasty, and her “questions” usually meant more as insults than as requests for information. Still, presidents and journalists alike bowed and scraped before her, as if she were the Queen of All Media. Her reign ended with an implosion. A rabbi and two high-school kids in yarmulkes exposed Thomas as not merely anti-Israel, but anti-Semitic. Asked her opinion about the Jews at a Jewish heritage event at the White House, this daughter of Lebanese immigrants said they should “get the hell out of Palestine,” and when asked where they should go, she snapped “home” to Germany and Poland, where so many were massacred in the Holocaust. Thomas apologized quickly, then retired from her Hearst column after these remarks. Whether it was voluntary or mandatory is unclear. What is clear, however, is that some in the press returned immediately to kissing her ring. “Few White House correspondents ever achieved her high profile and respectability,” raved Jeremy Peters in the New York Times. “From her coveted seat in the front row of the White House briefing room to her ability to cow even the most hardened White House press secretary, Ms. Thomas was a legend in Washington.” The Helen Thomas “legend” devolved over the last decade after she left UPI, from annoying liberal Reagan-bashing scold to fire-breathing ogre. She bluntly admitted she was a hater in 2002: “I censored myself for 50 years….Now I wake up and ask myself, ‘Who do I hate today?’” Is that the sound of rarified respectability, New York Times? She clearly hated anyone who would wage a war on Islamic radicalism. Thomas sneered at press secretary Ari Fleischer in December of 2001 about President Bush: “I’m taking note of his wide-swinging threats in speeches recently. What makes him think that he has the right to go into a sovereign country and bomb the people?” Before the Iraq war in 2003, she demanded to know “Why does he want to drop bombs on innocent Iraqis?” In her questions, the Americans were always psychotic killers of innocent civilians. Those who awarded her respect often did so because she was one of the first women in the press corps. But honoring this accomplishment came with a hefty price: ignoring the blatant bias of her questions and rudeness of her conduct. Media liberals offered her more than respect. They clearly enjoyed her ranting outbursts from the hard left. When she mocked Bush and American military action, this hater spoke for them, saying the ugly things they wanted said. Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank is a good example. He disparaged her hateful Palestine remarks, but then hailed Thomas for offering “a ferocity to her questioning that has eluded too many in subsequent generations. At a time when others were getting cozy with sources, her crabby, unrelenting hostility was refreshing.” Journalists cherish ferocity and unrelenting hostility – when it comes from journalists. Milbank still fondly recalled how Thomas yelled at President Obama just two weeks ago. “When are you going to get out of Afghanistan?…Why are we continuing to kill and die there? What is the real excuse? And don’t give us this Bushism, ‘If we don’t go there, they’ll all come here.’ ” Milbank did not note the irony from his own newspaper on June 7, with the front-page story about the two aspiring jihadis who were nabbed by the feds in New Jersey as they attempted to travel to Somalia to join the terrorist group al-Shabab. One had said to an undercover cop he would be “doing killing here, if I can’t do it over there.” Helen Thomas thought her opponents were relentlessly dogmatic, but her unjust-war-on-terror narrative never acknowledged some jihadis want to kill us. In fact, they’ve already killed over 3,000 of us. The coverage of her retirement was sickening. ABC, CBS, and NBC all marked her retirement in a very narrow way. There was the offensive clip, and CBS and NBC allowed Obama flack Robert Gibbs to distance the White House from those remarks. But beyond that, the only soundbites came from sympathetic media colleagues, wishing her well. ABC reporter Dan Harris even suggested Thomas should get a break for her Jew-hating, because she’s approaching senility: “After all, many of us have elderly relatives who have lost their verbal filter.” So we should feel sorry for this hater? Helen Thomas is leaving the White House with all the hate she’s been bringing to the grounds for decades. Despite their ill-advised adoration, the White House press corps has been improved by her retirement.

Sarah Palin aide helped Nixon dump Jews from government

WASHINGTON – A top adviser to GOP star Sarah Palin was once dispatched by ex-President Richard Nixon to sweep Jews out of government service, newly released tapes show. Nixon aide Fred Malek's role as what Democrats call a “Jew counter” for the disgraced President was already well known, and he has spent decades apologizing for activities that later cost him a Republican National Committee job in the 1980s. But he remains a prominent GOP powerbroker. “The government is full of Jews,” Nixon griped to chief aide H.R. Haldeman in a July 1971 Oval Office recording released by the University of Virginia's Miller Center on Thursday. “Most Jews are disloyal.” The Republican President, who resigned amid the Watergate scandal in 1974, said he wanted Malek in charge of cleaning Jews out of “any sensitive areas.” “We've got to get a man in charge who is not Jewish to control the Jewish – do you understand?” Nixon said. “I sure do,” Haldeman answered. Ultimately, Malek turned over a list of more than a dozen Jews in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, files show. Most were fired. The Democratic Party fired off at least 13 e-mails to reporters blasting Malek – who ran George H.W. Bush's 1992 campaign – and forwarded unflattering stories about the new tape. Malek was recently named a budget adviser by Virginia's Republican governor, Robert McDonnell. “As Mr. Malek has said before, he has made mistakes in his life for which he has apologized, atoned and learned from,” Malek's spokesman Mark Corallo said. Back in 1971, Nixon only appeared dimly aware of the background of the West Pointer and Vietnam vet. “Malek is not Jewish?” he asked Haldeman, who replied that Malek was not. Many prominent Jews have rallied behind Malek, a successful GOP businessman and philanthropist, including Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), The Washington Post reported. Gaza blockade under pressure

There could be concessions from Israel on the Gaza Strip aid blockade, Channel 4 News International Editor Lindsey Hilsum reports from Ashdod, as it faces more international pressure after stopping another aid ship. The Israeli navy diverted the Rachel Corrie – the last of the so-called “freedom flotilla” containing thousands of tonnes of aid for Gaza, as well as activists from Ireland and elsewhere – without incident. The ship, named after the American woman killed in Gaza in 2003, had ignored Israeli orders to divert to Israel's Ashdod port where Israel had offered to unload the cargo and deliver it to Gaza before inspecting it. However, following the Israeli military intervention, it was escorted to Ashdod where the cargo was unloaded and the passengers were put onto buses to the airport to be deported. The Rachel Corrie continued with its mission despite Israeli forces killing nine activists on board a Turkish aid ship on Monday. Lindsey Hilsum, Channel 4 News International Editor, said that Israelis continued to support the blockade, despite the aid crisis in Gaza and international condemnation – although some alterations could be made to what kinds of items are blocked as a result of recent events, she said. “Most Israelis seem to agree with their government that the blockade of Gaza is necessary in order to weaken the Hamas government in Gaza and prevent it from getting weapons,” she said. “But international reaction is now stepping up – with the White House saying that it is unsustainable, it has to change. “But nonethless Israel seems quite determined…they think that if the blockade is lifted, there is a danger of weapons going into Gaza, that at least is what they say. “But I think now there will be new negotiations to change at least what can go in and what can't. There is an Israeli list of goods which are allowed in and which aren't. Rather bizarrely, coriander is not allowed in, ginger however is allowed in.” The humanitarian cargo on board the Rachel Corrie includes: 550,000 kilograms of bagged cement 20,000 Kgs of printing paper 25,000 kgs of school supplies and books 12,000 kgs of toys 150,000 kgs of medical supplies Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement saying: “Forces used the same procedures for Monday's flotilla and Saturday's sailing but was met by a different response. “On today's ship and in five of the six vessels in the previous flotilla, procedure ended without casualties. The only difference was with one ship where extremist Islamic activists, supporters of terrorism, waited for our troops on the deck with axes and knives.” Passengers on board the MV Rachel Corrie include: Mairead Maguire, nobel Peace Laureate and Cofunder of Peace People, Northern Ireland. Dennis Halliday, former UN Assistant Secretary General, nobel peace prize nominee, and winner of the UK Gandhi Peace Prize. Matthias Change Wen chieh, Malaysia barrister and former political secretary to former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohammed. The ship was the latest attempt to break the four-year old blockade imposed on Gaza by Israel, with the stated aim of preventing Gaza's rulers Hamas from building up weapons to attack the Jewish state. It prevents materials such as cement from entering Gaza, which it says could be used for military purposes. The latest incident comes after nine Turkish activists attempting to break the blockade were killed by Israeli military on Monday. The Guardian newspaper reported today that autopsy results showed they had been shot a total of 30 times, many at close range. Five were killed by gunshots to the head, it said. Speaking to Channel 4 News, Chris Gunness, UN Relief and Works Agency spokesman, said that the key issue was that people in Gaza were absolutely desperate for aid. “We have to get aid into Gaza. There is 80% aid dependency and 44% unemployment. Last year 100,000 people came to us because they could not feed their families, this year it was 300,000 so deep poverty has gone up three times,” he said. “There's a crisis in the health service in Gaza, there's a crisis in the education service in Gaza,” he said. “Thousands of five and six year olds can't go to UN schools today because of this illegal blockade, this collective punishment of 1.5 million people, which is why we say lift the sea blockade, lift the land blockade. We know we can do it and do it in a way which adequately accommodates Israel's legitimate security concerns.” He also said that his organisation had been working with Israeli authorities to get cement into Gaza, which showed that it could be done. “If we can do it for two months, we can do it for two years. If we can do it for a few trucks, we can do it for a few tens of thousands of trucks,” he said. International criticism has been heaped on the blockade following the incidents this week, including by Israel's ally the United States. A spokesman for the White House National Security Council said: “We are working urgently with Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and other international partners to develop new procedures for delivering more goods and assistance to Gaza. “The current arrangements are unsustainable and must be changed. For now, we call on all parties to join us in encouraging responsible decisions by all sides to avoid any unnecessary confrontations. U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay increased the pressure. “International humanitarian law prohibits starvation of civilians as a method of warfare and … it is also prohibited to impose collective punishment on civilians,” she said. http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&a… added by: treewolf39

Ivanka Trump is a Big, Lumpy Bitch of the Day

I think Ivanka Trump has been spending too much time sitting behind the desk her daddy bought her, working the job her daddy gave her, because she’s got that whole “I sit at a desk working for a billion dollar company, so I don’t have much time to work out, but I do have a lot of time to order in food, or get my assistant to order in food, because I’m just a lazy rich girl, riding the family wave”…and that doesn’t bother me…I mean I almost respect the fact that she wants to make something of herself, but she would have been better off just spending her dad’s money, spending the day hanging out at the spa, experimenting with expensive diets, until her very rich Jewish husband she converted for knocks her up, and she’s forced to spend 9 months waiting to pawn it off to the nanny, so that she can go back to shopping, spa days and sitting…what the fuck is she trying to prove?! She is fucking dumpy, lumpy and big. Sure she has a hired fat ass to stand next to and have hold her umbrella to make her look skinnier, but the spanx aren’t holding up and her ass is one a retired farmer may be impressed by becuase it reminds him of those erotic days he spent inseminating cows, but for me it’s too sloppy for a set of big tits to distract me from….I’m picky when it comes to commenting on pictures…but not so picky when it comes to real life….
