Jim Bob Duggar: Joy-Anna Will NOT Be Breaking Any Courtship Rules!

If you watch Counting On online , you know that the Duggars follow a very specific – and very strict set of rules – when it comes to dating and relationships. In fact, they don’t even use the word “dating.” Duggar women and their suitors engage in “courting,” which they describe as “dating with a purpose.” That purpose, of course, being marriage and the conception of a small army of offspring. The latest Duggar to embark on this heavily regulated romantic journey is 19-year-old  Joy-Anna, who is now courting Austin Forsyth , a longtime family friend. Unfortunately, if she was hoping to enjoy a modicum of freedom and maybe even occasional alone time with her new beau, Joy-Anna picked a bad time to start courting. You see, her older sister Jinger Duggar recently married Jeremy Vuolo , and the relationship was subject to a great deal of scrutiny early on, as the young couple seemed to flout the rules and conventions of courtship at every turn. Now, patriarch Jim Bob Duggar is making it perfectly clear that Joy-Anna won’t be rebelling in a similar fashion: That nervous-looking young man across from Jim Bob is Austin, who celebrated his 23rd birthday last night. As you can see, Jim Bob and wife Michelle didn’t leave anything to chance, chaperoning the celebration themselves, instead of outsourcing the job to one of Joy-Anna’s older siblings. The photo was posted on the Duggars’ official Facebook page, along with a caption reading: “We had a great time going on our double date with you and Joy this weekend! “We are loving the time we are getting to spend with you as you and Joy court, and we are so excited to see what the Lord has in-store for you and our sweet Joy!” Obviously, any 23-year-old would love to spend his birthday with his girlfriend’s stern parents, discussing “what the Lord has in store” for his future, but we can’t help but think that Austin might have liked to be alone with Joy, and maybe even get in some hand-holding action. Sadly, he came along at a time when the Duggars and their sex drives are under greater scrutiny than ever. In fact, Jim Bob might be showing more of a reaction to Jinger’s courtship controversy than he did to the Josh Duggar sex scandals , which pretty much tells you all you need to know about the man. Clayton Jennings: Duggar Family Friend Tied to Sex Scandal

You didn’t think you’d get out of 2016 without one last Duggar sex scandal, did you? Ha! This dumpster fire of a year hasn’t given us any breaks for the past 11 months, and it looks like it has no intention of starting now. Unfortunately, while we’re maintaining hope that 2017 will contain fewer unexpected celebrity deaths, it’s hard to be even a little optimistic when it comes to the Duggars’ future. The family first fell from grace back in May of 2015, when the world learned that Josh Duggar molested several young girls , including four of his sisters, while he was a teenager. The Duggars’ reputation was further damaged by the revelation that Josh’s parents helped him hide his crimes from the authorities. Not long thereafter, it was revealed that Josh had an account with Ashley Madison , a website designed to help married people find cheating partners. It was hard to imagine that things could get any worse for a family who had risen to fame by holding themselves up as paragons of family values and Christian virtue. Remarkably, however, enough fans were willing to forgive the family that they were given a second shot at reality stardom with Counting On , a spin-off focusing on the Duggar children, with occasional cameos from parents Jim Bob and Michelle (and no mention of Josh). The show has maintained mediocre ratings throughout a four-episode trial run and two full seasons, even as the Duggars endured scandals that would have sunk reality stars with less loyal fan bases. While Jim Bob and Michelle’s 18 younger kids have thus far managed to avoid any major controversies, several members of the family’s inner circle have been felled by scandal, including the Duggars’ former minister Bill Gothard. Gothard resigned in disgrace after more than a dozen women, many of them former employees, came forward to accuse the evangelist of various acts of sexual impropriety. Now, another high-profile minister with ties to the Duggars has been embroiled in a sex scandal, and it looks as though he too will step away from his profession as a result. Clayton Jennings is a popular youth preacher, whose self-produced faith-based film Strayland  performed better than expected when it was released in 2010, earning Jennings a modicum of fame among Southern evangelicals. According to a blog entitled the Polemics Report, Jennings has stepped away from his ministry  following the revelation that he used his position of authority to coerce young women into sex. (The journalist who first exposed Jennings says the 28-year-old pastor sent him “a large sum of money” to stop investigating the matter.) In recent weeks, Jennings has posted several videos in the vein of the goofy slam-poetry-style “confession” below, in an effort to clear his name. Clayton Jennings Confession However, those who claim to have knowledge of the details of Jennings’ misdeeds say that the young minister is withholding information A woman who claims she was pressured into performing sex acts on Jennings recently offered this account to the Polemics Report: ” I told him I had never been in a serious relationship and so had never been with a guy physically that way before. He would then take my hands in an effort to ‘teach me what to do.’ I felt like a broken record telling him that I was a virgin and wanted to save myself for marriage. “We didn’t actually have sex, but I was pressured into being sexually intimate with him in other ways. I told him that it was my belief that sexual favors (of all forms) outside of marriage is a sin against God. “He would stare at me with such a confused look on his face as he assured me ‘No, it’s not the same’ and because of his authority as a ‘minister,’ I believed him and gave in .” View Slideshow: The 11 Biggest Duggar Family Scandals of 2015 This time, the Duggars aren’t directly involved, but the fact that it’s the second time in as many years that a member of their inner circle has been forced to step down due to a sex scandal is unlikely to do much for their battered reputation. Maybe forcing young people to abstain from any sort of physical contact until after they’re married isn’t such a great idea after all.

THG Presents: The 10 Biggest Turkeys of 2016!

Happy Thanksgiving, from the whole THG family to yours. What would a quintessential, uniquely American holiday be without family, food, football and appreciation for the things we hold dearest? Nothing. But this year it’s taken on a special meaning. Here at The Hollywood Gossip, on this twenty-fourth day of November, the year Two Thousand Sixteen, we honor some impressive turkeys. By that, we mean some of the celebrities we’ve had the honor, the pleasure, and the burden of covering here over the past 10.87 months. Or in the case of the winner, about that many years. Who ruffled the most feathers and left us shaking our heads, hanging our heads in shame, and/or laughing our heads off at the same time? And who would we POSSIBLY select, this of all years, as the recipient of the prestigious 10th Annual Spencer Pratt Thanksgiving Turkey Award!? Without further ado, here are our Top 10 Turkeys of 2016 … and man alive, we’re talking fowl individuals. Legit bird brains up in hurrrr. 10. Florida Man . If you see an absurd news headline on Facebook that somehow isn’t from a fake political site, #FloridaMan was likely involved. 9.  Justin Bieber . He’s pulled it together a bit and actually fallen a few spots from prior years, but still makes the list b/c what a douche canoe. 8. Kanye West . We wish him well, now that we know he may be truly mentally unstable, but even that can’t explain some of his antics. 7. Jon & Kate Gosselin . No, this list isn’t from 2008, but it might as well be, as these two are STILL going at it harder and uglier than ever. 6. Hillary Clinton . Worse move in hindsight … setting up a private email server or not setting foot in Wisconsin this whole election season?  5. Jordan Rodgers . The Bachelor franchise has seen its share of guys who deserve a pumpkin pie to the face, but nothing like J-Rod.  4. Jim Bob Duggar . For no other reason than having invented those absurd  courtship rules , bird brain JBD can gobble up this spot. 3. Stevie J & Joseline . The Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta duo EASILY prevails for most dysfunctional celeb couple of ’16, which is saying a lot! 2. Jenelle Evans . Now expecting her third kid by her third different guy, the Carolina Hurricane took her kid to the beach … in an actual hurricane. And the #1 Turkey of the Year honor goes to – who else – the newly-elected 45th President of the United States of America, ladies and gentlemen! 1. Donald J. Trump . Comment rendered unnecessary. If you really require an explanation, go and read any page of any site of the Internet. Fun Thanksgiving task: Bring him up at the dinner table and see what happens … everyone is being SO SECRETIVE with their opinions! Fun THG fact: Mr. President-Elect is the first two-time winner of this award, having previously been named top  THG Turkey of 2012 . Our prescient words four years ago today … “The king of PR stunts, conspiracy theories and Obama rants wins our top turkey honor because of his repeated attempts to insert himself into the national political discourse, and the complete and utter rejection of his ‘ideas’ by citizens across the political spectrum.” Well, joke’s on us. Duggar Family: Axed By TLC Because of Josh Scandals?

It’s been more than 19 months since the allegations that Josh Duggar molested five young girls  first went public. At first, Duggar fans expected the family to deny the reports. Instead, it emerged that parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar helped hide Josh’s crimes from the authorities. Throughout 2015, things continued to deteriorate for the Duggars. Several more scandals were unearthed, most (though not all of them) involving Josh. In October of last year, it was revealed that Josh had two paid accounts with Ashley Madison , a service that helps facilitate affairs between married people.  Shortly thereafter, a sex worker named Danica Dillon came forward with allegations that Josh had paid her for sex and treated her so roughly during the encounter that she suffered from PTSD. It looked to all the world as though the wholesome Duggar brand had been damaged beyond repair. Remarkably, however, the family was able to finagle its way back onto television with the TLC reality series Counting On , now in its second season. At first, the network was understandably tentative about taking another chance on the Duggars. The show started as a limited-run miniseries before being picked up for a full season. Crucial to its early success was the fact the belief amongst viewers that Counting On would never feature Josh, Jim Bob, or Michelle Duggar. That’s already proven to be partially untrue, as Jim Bob and Michelle have made several controversial cameos during the show’s second season. Now there are reports that Josh may be returning to Counting On to tell his side of the story and try to win sympathy from viewers. According to several media outlets, the mere mention of Josh appearing on the show has been enough for TLC execs to make it clear they will cancel Counting On , if the Duggars persist in their belief that it would be a good idea to bring Josh on camera. The network was already reportedly considered canceling the show due to less-than-stellar ratings and severed relationships with advertisers who are angry that their commercials appeared during such a controversial series. Now, the Duggars have reportedly been warned that production will be shut down if they attempt to shoot a Josh cameo. Looks like fans of the family won’t have to worry about being reminded of the family’s scandalous side during Counting On . Ben Seewald: Defying the Duggars & Supporting Colin Kaepernick?

As you’ve probably heard, San Francisco 49ers quarterback  Colin Kaepernick has been kneeling for the national anthem prior to his team’s games as a means of protesting police violence against people of color. Though the spirit of his protest quickly spread to throughout the NFL and is now impacting other sports , Kaepernick’s decision has been unpopular with some fans, particularly folks with more right-wing political leanings – like the members of the Duggar family. But now it looks like one Duggar insider might be breaking with the rest of the Counting On clan when it comes to matters related to Kaepernick, the police, and the Black Lives Matter movement. Ben Seewald doesn’t have a reputation as the most socially conscious reality star on television, but it seems that the 21-year-old has been affected by the recent wave of fatal shootings perpetrated by police officers. Sources close to the family say that the husband of Jessa Duggar has broken with his in-laws by expressing support for Kaepernick and concern for the communities that have been affected by police violence. Seewald has mostly kept these views from fans, but he’s also given subtle indications on social media that he’s more left-leaning in his political beliefs than the ultra-conservative Duggars: Earlier this week, Ben re-tweeted evangelical preacher Russell Moore, who stated that “the situation has to change” regarding police violence toward African-Americans. And it’s far from the first time that Ben has demonstrated an awareness of the problem of systemic racism in America. Ben Seewald on Racial Unrest That’s Ben interviewing the rapper Flame about protests and police violence earlier this year. Seewald admits that he knows little about the subject, but expresses a willingness to learn, which is certainly a step in the right direction. Ben seems to be a political centrist on social issues, but his moderate beliefs put him far to the left of his famous in-laws. And not surprisingly, they’ve earned him condemnation from the family’s evangelical fans. Earlier this month, Seewald posted a photo of President Obama on his Instagram page with the following caption: “Be in prayer for president Obama: ‘Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. “‘For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.'” Naturally, his comments section exploded in criticism, with numerous followers declaring their intention to stop following Ben on social media and boycott his family’s show. Ben responded with a biblical clapback: “Before calling a leader (or anyone else) by a derogatory term, consider this: ‘Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.’ – 1 Peter 2:17.” Pretty enlightened stuff, especially coming from a member of the Duggar clan. Of course, this is the same guy who once blamed racism on evolution , so he still has a long way to go. Anyway, one member of the extended Duggar-verse who likely won’t be sitting next to Ben this Thanksgiving is Jill Duggar’s mother-in-law, Cathy Dillard, who recently tweeted: “Not watching NFL, till they fire those who refuse to honor this country. No McDonalds either! @NFL @McDonalds – I will miss McDonalds. ” No word on what McDonald’s has to do with any of this.

Duggar Kids Respond to Rumors They’re Quitting Reality TV

Earlier this week, several media outlets reported that the Duggar kids are planning to quit reality TV . The family generally doesn’t respond to tabloid rumors, even (or perhaps especially) when they turn out to be true. But in a surprise move, the clan took to their blog yesterday to respond to rumors about their future with TLC. If you follow the family closely you may be aware that advertisers have been fleeing the Duggars in droves ever since news of the first Josh Duggar sex scandal went public. That trend recently led to talk that TLC planned to cut ties with the Duggars, but planned to give the family an opportunity to make a graceful public exit and pretend that the end of the business relationship was their idea. Now, the Duggars say there’s no truth to those rumors, and they don’t foresee any end to their careers as reality stars. Typically, Duggar blog entries are written in the singular first person, with the authors identifying themselves as members of the family, In this case, however, the post read more like a press release from the family’s PR team: “As we approach the eight episode of Counting On , season two, the tabloids are circulating a rumor that the Duggar siblings are quitting reality TV,” the blog reads. “Is it true? Not in the slightest. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s children have no plans to leave TLC.” The post went on to promote last night’s episode of Counting On , which featured the start of the trip on which Jeremy Vuolo popped the question to Jinger Duggar. In a sense it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that the Duggars remain committed to the medium that made them famous… But in a way, it was somewhat of a bold move for the Duggars to announce that they definitively have no plans to leave the network that made them famous. Now, if their show gets canceled, the family can’t pretend that it was their decision. Of course, even if TLC decides to cut ties, we’re sure the Counting On clan will bounce back. Duggar Family: HOW MANY Babies Are on the Way?!

Last month, the Duggar faithful rejoiced following the announcement that Jessa Duggar is pregnant with her second child . After all, procreation is what made this family famous, so a year without a Duggar pregnancy is like a Patriots game in which Tom Brady fails to throw for a touchdown. (Unfortunately for Pats fans, there’s bound to be a few of those this year.) Anyway, the news that Jessa would be the next Duggar daughter to deliver a bundle of joy was met with an avalanche of heartfelt congrats, but also a fair amount of speculation. When you examine the evidence, it’s not surprising that many fans believed further Duggar pregnancy announcements were on the way. After all, just last year, there was talk of Jill and Jessa getting pregnant at the same time .  And this wasn’t mere tabloid gossip, mind you. Add to that the rumors that Jinger Duggar is pregnant (hence, her accelerated courtship with Jeremy Vuolo), and you can see why some Duggar aficionados believed that Jessa’s announcement would be the first of many. In fact, the interest in the Duggar ladies’ uteruses has expanded to the point that in-laws are now being pulled into the fray. Yes, rumors that Anna Duggar is pregnant by her disgraced husband, Josh Duggar, have ramped up in recent weeks, with many fans and supposed insiders insisting that an announcement is forthcoming. So what’s going on here? Could there actually four Duggar babies on the way? Michelle and Jim Bob generally make a point of not addressing online rumors, but in a recent blog post, the founders of the famous fam indirectly shot down reports that there are multiple Duggars currently in gestation: “We are so thankful for our wonderful 32 years of marriage, 19 children, plus our daughter and sons in laws, and going on 7 grandkids.” Not a direct denial, but probably as close to one as we’ll get. Of course, there remains the possibility that Jim Bob and Michelle are either unaware of one of their daughters’ pregnancies or that they’re being evasive in order to avoid a scandal. Until recently, Jill Duggar was living in a Zika hot zone with her husband and son, and the news that she got pregnant in Central America (or shortly after returning home) would be sure to result in backlash from fans. Right now, the smart money is on Jinger being the next to get knocked up. Of course, you can be certain that that announcement won’t come until after her wedding and chaste, televised first kiss. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar: Breaking Up Over Josh!?

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are on the verge of a breakup again, according to a new tabloid report, and you know who is at the crux of it all. In a way, it’s a rehash of a rumor that’s been circulating for months: Despite the fact that his sex scandals have largely blown over, Jim Bob and Michelle are fighting over Josh and heading for divorce. Ironically, Anna Duggar and Josh are on good terms after all this. Anyway, one of the pariah’s parents allegedly does not want anything to do with their first-born, while the other wants him back in the fold. Can you guess which Duggar parent is which? In Touch magazine’s latest cover story features a smiling Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and the “fight that split the family apart,” supposedly. The gossip publication claims that the pair has been at odds, and that while Jim Bob is ready to forgive his son, his wife isn’t so sure. Apparently, the tension has grown so thick that either Jim Bob or Michelle will be moving out of their Arkansas home in the near future. Who will stay and who will leave the compound?! There are only two real possibilities here as we see it: Either the cover above is entirely inaccurate, or Jim Bob and Michelle are doing one heck of a fine job masking whatever tension exists. Just three days ago, he looked lovingly at Michelle in a birthday video message for son Josiah on the family’s official Facebook account. In the clip, Jim Bob extolled the virtues of his 20-year-old son and his “loving spirit towards people” while Michelle glowed by his side. Like we said, they’d have to be really good actors. Jim Bob also gushed over Michelle in a recent anniversary tribute in which he also appeared to shade Josh, casting doubt on this story. For all the recurring talk of the Duggars divorcing , that would come as nothing short of a monumental shock at this stage of the game. Why? Consider the past, present and future … Whatever you think of them personally, the family’s comeback from Josh’s sordid scandals in 2015 has been nothing short of extraordinary. TLC canceled 19 Kids and Counting pretty fast, but after a few months, Jill & Jessa: Counting On was reborn (then renamed Counting On ). The Duggars are back, and better than ever; Jim Bob and Michelle may be more in the background these days, but they’re not invisible. Nor are they stupid. On the contrary. You might think of their values and lifestyle as incredibly backward, and there’s an argument to be made for that. But they’re not unintelligent. They know what a valuable thing they have going lately and how the money train is back on the tracks following its interim derailment. No way they’re going to risk that. Exactly. Not gonna be happening. We have little doubt that there are differing opinions about Josh, both in terms of what he did and how do deal with him going forward. They wouldn’t be good parents – or human beings – if they didn’t struggle internally with an issue that’s as complicated as they come. It’s a big leap to go from that to divorce, though, especially given that this is JIM BOB AND MICHELLE DUGGAR we’re talking about. Leslie Jones: Ghostbusters Star Stands Up To Twitter Trolls

People are awful, as Leslie Jones is showing us. The Ghostbusters star has been the target of hatred on Twitter, and is doing something about it. According to E! News , rather than delete her account, Jones is going after every single user who has tweeted something vulgar or offensive. “I leave Twitter tonight with tears and a very sad heart,” she wrote. “All this cause I did a movie.You can hate the movie but the shit I got today…wrong.” Exposing each user took its toll on the actress, who admitted that it was all getting to be too much. “I feel like I’m in a personal hell. I didn’t do anything to deserve this. It’s just too much. It shouldn’t be like this. So hurt right now.” The fact that the  Saturday Night Live  star has to endure such abuse (over and over and over again) is very tough to watch.   Fortunately, other stars have come to Jones’ defense, including Reese Witherspoon and Loni Love, and a hashtag, #LoveForLeslieJ has been created in support. When some users claim that Jones was melting down by responding to the hateful tweets, she took them to task. According to the star herself, she’s been called an “ape,” received pics of people’s butts, and one person sent an image with “semen” on her face. For several weeks now, rumors that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are getting divorced have been circulating online. Life & Style was among the first to report that the parents of the 19 Kids and Counting clan had officially called it quits, but sources offered the tabloid a variety of explanations. The most memorable was that Michelle had caught Jim Bob cheating. That one seemed rather unlikely, if only because Jim Bob would have to be some sort of Arkansan James Bond to get away with an affair in the Duggar’s small-town. Sure, Josh Duggar got away with a lot worse, but he had his parents’ help in concealing his crimes. Jim Bob allegedly acted alone in his affair. As you may have heard, Michelle reportedly took the whole situation much harder than Jim Bob did. In fact, some insiders have claimed that Josh is “dead” to Michelle and the matriarch has had little to no contact with her disgraced son in the weeks since he returned from rehab for his addictions to sex and pornography. Jim Bob reportedly believes Michelle’s being too hard on Josh (as though that’s possible), and sources say the couple fought about the matter non-stop for several months. “They rarely argue, but this one was a doozy,” said one insider. “[Jim Bob] argued about putting family first and how Michelle needed to move on and put things in the past, and she stood her ground and said she was putting family first by being cautious.” Now, L&S is claiming that the couple is secretly separated (within the confines of the Duggar Compound, of course) and doing all they can to hide the decision from their media … and even from their kids.
