The “Camp Rock 2” star turned 18 on Friday (August 20) and she admits she has no idea what to wish for. But she does know exactly how she wants to spend it. “I’m turning 18, yeah. I would love to … I don’t know! I would love to just have fun with my friends,” she told MTV News at the New York premiere this week of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” where co-star Joe Jonas showed off his own 21st birthday present . “I don’t get to see my friends a lot, so a lot of my friends are coming out [to visit],” said Lovato, who’ll be performing in the New York area this weekend. “My family flew out. I’m just having a good time with them.” So what does she want now that she’s legal? “I have everything I could possibly want,” she told us. “Everyone’s asking me, ‘What do you want for you birthday?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know! Handbags?’ Like, I have everything I could want. I’m just thankful.” Well, it turns out her pals, the Jonas Brothers, already know what they’re getting for her. “It’s Demi’s birthday in a couple days, like two days,” Nick said. “I’m gonna get her… I can’t say ’cause I do have the gift. Jon Chu Teases Plotline For ‘The LXD’ Season Two

‘It’s all about the villains in the next season, which is really fun,’ director says. By Jocelyn Vena Jon Chu Photo: Alexandra Wyman/ Getty Images With the first season of “The LXD” wrapping up, the online series has managed to garner admirers ranging from comic book fanboys to dance fans by seamlessly combining the mythology of comic book franchises like “X-Men” with the art of dance. And the mastermind behind the show, “Step Up 3D” director Jon Chu, says that the concept wasn’t initially an easy sell. “For sure, the question kept coming up, like, ‘What’s their power and what are they fighting for?’ ” he told MTV News. “It did take us some time to create the mythology, which even in the 10 episodes, it doesn’t come out. You just clamp [on] a lot of little questions. So, we created a history that goes from the 1920s to the year 3000 as to what that power is. So in season two you learn a lot more.” What will fans get in the second season, which Chu said has already been shot and is currently in the process of being edited before a premiere, hopefully by the end of the year? “It’s all about the villains in the next season, which is really fun,” he teased. “We see these sort of as the ‘Avengers’ style. In season two, which is them coming into learning what the LXD is, learning about what the organization is, learning who their enemies are, learning what the power, which we call RA … and this RA, which is like chi or aura or chakra, can be focused and sent outside of the body. So they’re going to explore how they can hone this RA and that there is evil out there.” Looking back on the first season, Chu, who will next direct the still-untitled Justin Bieber movie , feels that they really did start to break some ground. “You know the one that was the riskiest for us, but also the one that paid off the most, was ‘Robot Lovestory.’ That’s the one where the whole series stemmed from, on my end at least,” he said. “I wanted to do this story about how Madd Chadd discovered he was a robot. I wanted to do it in a film noir style, so that was always sort of the first one. Eventually I think it worked well, and I think it’s a fun, beautiful piece.” Have you been following “The LXD”? Justin Bieber 3-D Movie Is ‘A Story For Our Time,’ Director Says

‘We’re gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from,’ Jon Chu says of the Bieb’s YouTube-fueled success. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Frederick Breedon/ Getty Images Valentine’s Day weekend won’t just be lovers in 2011. Devoted Beliebers are counting down to the moment they can check out Justin Bieber’s 3-D movie . Director Jon Chu promises fans will get an in-depth look at what it’s like to be the VMA-nominated singer . “Well, we’re working on it right now. We’ve been touring with him, so we’ve been working on it,” Chu (“Step Up 3D”) told MTV News about the project. “The movie comes out in five months, so we’re deep in it. It’s been fun to get to know Justin. He’s a really cool guy and we’re gonna make a really fun movie.” Those who have yet to be infected with Bieber Fever should take note: This movie is for fans and non-fans alike, according to Chu. “[It’s] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don’t know him, and we’re gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from,” he explained. “Because it’s a really fascinating story and it has a lot to do with our sort of digital lifestyle now. He was able to do what corporations try to do now when they use YouTube and they don’t even know what to do with it yet. It’s a pretty cool story for our time.” As for the film’s format, Chu explained that it will be a mixture of concert footage and some documentary-style scenes. “There’s not going to be acted-out scenes and I can’t talk about the rest. It’s not your typical concert film and it’s not going to be a biopic … but it is about his life. I think it’s more of a documentary. We’re going to figure it out as we go,” he said. As for how much of it will be in 3-D, he said, “You’ll have to see it. We’re figuring that out now.” Chu had more praise for Bieber, telling us the singer has real staying power, as evidenced by artists like Kanye West seeking him out for collaborations. “He … isn’t a flash in the pan,” Chu said. “He has legitimate talent and I think other artists recognize that.” What part of Justin’s biography do you most want to see played out in 3-D? Instead, he had to settle on a James Bond-inspired Omega watch. “I got this watch … It’s James Bond’s watch,” Joe proudly told MTV News on Wednesday (August 18) at the New York premiere of “Camp Rock 2.” “It shoots lasers out of it for certain people,” he added. The day before his August 15 birthday, Joe had a mini-surprise party thrown for him on stage at a show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. How did he spend the day itself? Relaxing: “[I celebrated] with family and friends,” he said. “It was awesome. We sat by the pool and hung out.” Joe seemed genuinely pleased with his watch, although when he performed with his brothers on “Good Morning America” , he still seemed to really want that dog. “Besides a dog, I don’t know,” he said when asked about his birthday wishes. “That’s all I kind of wanted. Katy Perry Had To Escape L.A. To Write ‘Teenage Dream’

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Photo: Capitol Records Katy Perry decided to embrace her inner teenage girl when she sat down to write the title track from her forthcoming Teenage Dream album, out Tuesday. And she felt the only place she could get in touch with those warm, fuzzy feelings was her hometown of Santa Barbara, California. The song, which she co-wrote with and was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Benny Blanco, recalls a simpler time when love felt like the first time. “Well, going to Santa Barbara, which isn’t very far from L.A., it was just like it brought me back home and it took me out of this fast-paced L.A.,” she told MTV News. “Everybody climbing on top of each other to get to that next step on the ladder … sometimes L.A. can get exhausting.” In fact, it was that song that dictated how the entire album would play out. “I wanted to call it Teenage Dream because, really, there’s a song on the record … I wrote that song in Santa Barbara and it was a really pure moment for me because that’s where I’m from. And it was where I started my creative juices, and it kind of exudes this euphoric feeling like everyone remembers what their teenage dreams were,” she said. “All the girls that were on your poster walls … and I want to continue to be one of those … teenage wet dreams.” The track, however, wasn’t all that easy to get right. “I’m in the studio fighting with them to change the melody, or I’m fighting for the best lyric at all times,” she told Billboard earlier this year. “I think we rewrote ‘Teenage Dream’ five times for 10 days straight. On the last day, I was so happy to finally get somewhere that we all agreed on.” Perry said that there is a bottom line to the euphoria of the track. “That song is kind of like feeling that way when you were a teenager: really emotional, really invested. … It’s intense being in love and being a teenager. Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood Call Off Engagement

Couple reportedly ‘fought a lot’ and ended their seven-month-long engagement last week. After getting engaged in January when Manson popped the question to his on-again, off-again girlfriend onstage in Paris, the pair has decided to split, according to People.com . They reportedly ended the relationship last week. UsMagazine.com reports that “they fought a lot. It was always on and off. He’s a creative mind so not the easiest person to be in a relationship with.” A rep for the “True Blood” actress hadn’t responded to MTV News emails to confirm the reports by press time. The two have reportedly always been very on-and-off. After initially dating in 2006, they split two years later before reconciling and getting engaged earlier this year. During their time apart, Wood was reportedly dating “Nikita” star Shane West. And it seems Manson is handling his broken heart by hitting the town. Manson, who was once married to burlesque star Dita Von Teese, and guitarist Twiggy Ramirez were seen getting their party on in Los Angeles on Saturday night. They had dinner at hotspot STK before getting their dance on at Boudoir along with Playmate of the Year Colleen Shannon. E! News reports that Manson also had an unidentified brunette with him and was introducing her to people as his new girlfriend. “They just broke off their engagement, and he needed a night out with friends,” one source tells People.com. Jesse McCartney Announces New Single

The singer has announced plans to release a single sometime next month, and he’ll have a new album coming out sometime after the song’s release. The singer, known for hits like “Beautiful Soul” and “Leavin,” tweeted the news Monday (August 16) night. “Here we go…The first single is called SHAKE and will be given to radio AFTER LABOR DAY! Album title? Haha! Yall have to wait for that one.” While fans will only have to wait a few more weeks to hear “Shake,” they won’t find out what McCartney’s album will sound like for a while. It’s been two years since the singer released his third album Departure , which was re-released in 2009 as Departure: Recharged . His song “Up” appears on the “Step Up 3D” soundtrack. The last time McCartney caught up with MTV News , he was hoping to reunite with his “How Do You Sleep?” collaborator Ludacris once again. “I know that I might work with Ludacris again,” he said last December. “That’s maybe a possibility, and he’s great — he’s one of my favorite rappers … and he’s amazing to work with.” He also had an idea of what he wanted the album to sound like. “It’s gonna be kind of a continuation of Departure , but maybe a little more R&B slightly. You’ll get the chance to hear what’s going on in my head right now and a little … more personal,” he said. “It’s a little bit more raw, but still rhythmic and upbeat. It’s still soulful. Selena Gomez Releases New Album Track Listing

On Monday she took to Facebook to share with fans the complete official track listing for her upcoming album A Year Without Rain, due September 21. “Hey Everyone– I wanted to share with you the official tracks off my upcoming album ‘A Year Without Rain’ as well as the bonus features on the deluxe album. I can’t wait for you all to hear the album,” Gomez wrote. The 10 songs on the new album are: current single “Round & Round,” title track “A Year Without Rain,” “Rock God,” “Off the Chain,” “Summer’s Not Hot,” “Intuition,” “Spotlight,” “Ghost of You,” “Sick of You” and “Live Like There’s No Tomorrow.” The deluxe version of the album will include two remixes of “A Year Without Rain,” as well as a remix of “Round & Round.” While Gomez didn’t let on about any previously reported collaborations in her Facebook message, earlier this month some websites reported that “Off the Chain” features Miley Cyrus and “Rock God” features Katy Perry . There were also murmurings of a Demi Lovato duet, “The Begging of the Road,” but that song didn’t make it to the official list. Fans may have to wait to see if Cyrus’ vocals ended up on “Off the Chain,” however, Gomez has said that Perry contributed to her album. “Katy Perry gave me a song, and she did background vocals on it,” she said. “The whole experience was really fun.” As for some of the announced songs, Gomez recently spoke to MTV News about the album and gave some insight into what people can expect. “[‘A Year Without Rain’ is] basically one of my favorite songs on the record. It’s kind of got a more feel-good dance beat and feel. I love it. It’s different; [it] kind of shows my growth of my music,” she said. “There’s a song called ‘Intuition’ that’s one of my favorites. Heidi Montag And Spencer Pratt Sign Divorce Papers

The former “Hills” stars have reportedly taken the next step to dissolving their marriage, with Montag authorizing the service of her divorce papers to Pratt, TMZ reports. Last week, Pratt reportedly received and signed the papers. This means the divorce can become finalized six months from the time Pratt received the documents. Montag’s lawyer, Jodeane Farrell, said, “Both Heidi and Spencer are in agreement to settle their divorce as quickly as possible without the need of a court appearance.” While the pair are briskly moving along to the end of their marriage since tying the knot in April 2009, they have each been tweeting about their next moves.
