MSNBC Host Calls Leftist Advocacy Group Co-Founded By Obama ‘Non-Partisan’

ROTF, laughing my Demos off . . . Barack Obama is president.  Oil is gushing in the gulf.  America was eliminated from the World Cup.  Looking for a laugh break? Try this: MSNBC has described DEMOS as “non-partisan.”  OK, I hadn’t heard of them, either.  But their web site just happens to mention that Barack Obama is “a founding Board member of Demos.” But that didn’t stop Chris Hayes of the lefty Nation mag, on MSNBC this evening subbing for Ed Schultz, from, yes, describing DEMOS as “non-partisan” in introducing the group’s Washington, DC director, Heather McGhee.  And who is Heather?  From the DEMOS site: “previously, she was the Deputy Policy Director, Domestic and Economic Policy, for the John Edwards for President 2008 campaign.” View video here . Predictably, McGhee spoke in favor of the Dems’ financial regulation bill.  Her argument included this pro-Obama gem: “People understand that we’ve now got someone in Washington watching out for the consumer,” etc.  Don’t you sleep better at night knowing Barack Obama’s in the White House? Poking around the DEMOS web site, we find this  description of the group’s “four overarching goals”:     *  a more equitable economy with widely shared prosperity and opportunity;     * a vibrant and inclusive democracy with high levels of voting and civic engagement;     * an empowered public sector that works for the common good;     * and responsible U.S. engagement in an interdependent world. Shall we translate?: income redistribution, lax voting enforcement, bigger government, weaker defense. Yup, sure sounds non-partisan to me! Note: My first instinct was to Google “DEMOS” + “Soros,” and while I can’t independently verify it for the time being, sure enough I got some hits, as here , listing the group as being funded by the far-left’s biggest financier.

Ex-Wife, Daughter Speak on John Edwards Affair, Savaging of Their Lives

John Edwards and his daughter Cate used to be tight. Then, the disgraced politician became one of the worst people alive, cheating on his cancer-stricken wife, knocking up his mistress, paying an aide to take responsibility for the child. That sort of thing. Now, in her first comments since her father’s secret life became exposed, Cate is siding – strongly – with her mother, Elizabeth. She told People : “There are the things she taught without words, [such as] how to continue to live your life on your own terms when it somehow becomes savaged by people you never invited into it.” (Pssst, Rielle Hunter : We think she’s talking about you.) Elizabeth Edwards also speaks on in next week’s issue of the magazine, saying she’s hard at work on a paperback edition of her memoir, Resilience . It will include a new chapter reflecting on the most damaging aspects of the fallout from her husband’s infidelity. Says Mrs. Edwards: “It’s my story and I’m writing it from here on out – nobody else.”

Happy Birthday, John Edwards!

Former U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate John Edwards turns 57 today. The disgraced politician has given us at least that may absurd stories in recent years. Celebrity sex scandals have become common, and the political realm is no exception. But Edwards’ stands out as the most ridiculous of all time for two reasons: He knocked up Rielle Hunter while running for president . Unlike Tiger Woods or Jesse James, his entire career hinged on the public’s opinion of him. He sabotaged himself beyond the point of redemption, an almost impossible feat. Even Bill Clinton, who was impeached , largely repaired his image. Guess when you cheat on your cancer-stricken wife, impregnate your weird mistress, make a sex tape with her, pay her hush money out of campaign coffers, and lie through your teeth about it all repeatedly to the public, there’s no going back. Happy birthday, John! You disgust us, but thanks for the material!

John Edwards: Seeking Plea Deal, Scared of Jail

Disgraced politician John Edwards is determined to work out a “plea deal” to avoid jail time as the federal grand jury investigating continues to examine his case. The bombshell developments surfaced earlier this week about the former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate from sources close to the situation in Raleigh, N.C. John Edwards has been investigated by both the FBI and IRS for possible campaign violations related to paying hush money to his weird mistress Rielle Hunter . The grand jury convened back in April 2009, and the National Enquirer reported this March that an indictment was imminent and Edwards will face consequences. Sources say “John is terrified” of jail, too. Better man up, Johnny! Will John Edwards do time for his bribes to Rielle Hunter? But he may escape that fate yet. Edwards is working “around the clock behind the scenes with his lawyers to work out a deal with prosecutors,” a source disclosed. “John does not want to be indicted – and he certainly doesn’t want to go to jail! It appears he’s willing to cop to a misdemeanor . He’s asking to keep his law license.” It appears, however, that “he will admit some guilt.” Beginning in 2007, a series of stories blew the lid off Edwards’ affair with blonde divorcee Rielle Hunter and the birth of their love child, daughter Frances Quinn. Rielle was on Edwards’ campaign payroll. In August 2008, the issue of “hush money” paid to Rielle and Andrew Young , a married Edwards’ aide, first arose. It was Young who helped cover up the affair by claiming he, not Edwards, was involved with Rielle and had fathered her child, he later admitted.

John Edwards DUI Cover-Up Alleged

As if his fall from grace weren’t complete, former presidential candidate John Edwards is accused of a shocking DUI cover-up by the National Enquirer . Seems far-fetched, but at this point, we’d almost buy it. The man has no credibility left, having repeatedly denied accusations by the same tabloid that he had an affair and fathered a child with Rielle Hunter . Both of those rumors were 100 percent accurate. It’s therefore hard to fully discredit reports that John was stopped by police after a boozy night of partying in March and weaseled his way out of it. Just when you think John Edwards’ image couldn’t possibly get worse … “John was the passenger in the car of an unidentified woman he picked up at one of the local bars,” an insider said. “John had been drinking a lot of wine and asked the woman to drive. She apparently had a couple of drinks herself.” Certainly not surprising that he was out on the singles scene. On the way to possibly create another John Edwards sex tape (our theory, not the Enquirer ‘s), the cops c*ck-blocked John by pulling the car over. After she “swerved the car a bit,” Edwards, who wanted to avoid trouble, reportedly used his Southern charm – and possibly money – to hush it up . No word if Andrew Young said he was behind the wheel instead.
