Ben Affleck’s acceptance speech after winning Best Picture for Argo at the 2013 Academy Awards Sunday night was an awesomely emotional mess. The actor, whose movie won top honors despite his personal snub in the Best Director category, was clearly choked up and caught up in the moment. The only important thing, he said through tears, is that “you gotta get up.” Then it got slightly awkward with his nod to spouse Jennifer Garner. “I want to thank my wife … for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases,” he said, stumbling over words as he addressed the mother of his three children. As if he were calling out his own marital problems, he added, “It’s good … it IS work, but it’s the best kind of work … and there’s no one I’d rather work with.” It was wonderful as a raw and honest moment, that’s for sure. Still, one wonders how the comment was received back at home at the end of the night. Was Jen surprised? Moved? Pissed? We will likely never know. Regardless, congratulations to Ben and his whole family!

Jones will be on the 16th season of the ABC dancing competition, which announced his casting. The rest of the cast will be unveiled Tuesday on GMA . The show returns March 18, a week after The Bachelor finale (follow this link for The Bachelor spoilers ) starring Lowe, who’s also rumored to be joining DWTS . Jones, 28, scored two amazing TDs in the Super Bowl. Now he’s ready to add the Mirror Ball to his trophy case a la Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward. Sounds like he’s up for the challenge , too. Jim Jones has been arrested after the rapper allegedly become belligerent with police in Fair Lawn, N.J., where he resides, according to news reports. Jones was apparently charged with disorderly conduct and hindering apprehension. Police were questioning Jim Jones about a ticketed vehicle they were trying to tow. He agreed to pay the fee but allegedly became upset when questioned about prior warrants for failing to shovel a sidewalk and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. He posted bail on the warrants and has a February 27 court date. The 37-year-old hip-hop artist is a member of the Diplomats. The New York-based rap crew has been around for years, and Jim Jones’ hit song “We Fly High” was actually one of 2007’s top-selling tracks.

According to NBC News: A married father of two who coaches girls’ softball is accused of having a sexual relationship with his teenage daughter’s best friend — a girl who looked up to her coach as a father-like figure, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC10. Kevin Jones, 34, of Fairless Hills, Pa., northeast of Philadelphia, is accused of having intimate contact with the girl starting when she was 14, according to Falls Township Police. Police say that Jones would text and Facebook message with the girl, whom he coached on the same softball team, the Levittown Bulldogs, that his daughter played on. The girl and Jones would tell each other that they loved one another and he would refer to her as his “baby doll” and she would call him “daddy,” according to a criminal complaint. Jones allegedly told the girl, whose father left the picture about seven years ago, that she could consider him a father. “I’ll be your dad from now on and I’ll protect you like I’m your dad,” Jones told the girl, according to the affidavit. According to the criminal complaint, the relationship between the two started in the spring of 2012 with “flirting” as Jones would put his arm around the girl and hold her hand while speaking to her. Over time, the girl told police that their relationship progressed, first to kissing then to sexual activities and eventually to intercourse about two weeks ago. The affidavit said that Jones’ children were in his home during many of the alleged sex acts. The girl, now 15, told police that all the alleged sex was consensual and that no drugs or alcohol were involved. Jones denies any sexual contact with the alleged victim outside of hugging and kissing that happened only in front of the girl’s mother. The criminal complaint states that during questioning Jones told police, “I don’t know if she thinks I touched her, we play fight.” The relationship was uncovered after the teenager confided in her sister about the relationship and the girls’ mother in turn reported it to Falls Township Police on Jan. 9. Around that time, the victim allegedly tried to warn Jones that her mother knew of their alleged relationship in a series of texts and Facebook messages that are referenced in the affidavit. Those Facebook messages date back to June of 2011, when the girl was just 13, and include messages where Jones threatens to kill any boy the girl has interest in, according to the affidavit. Police planned to serve a search warrant at Jones’ home on Jan. 25, but around 2 p.m. the home burned down. Jones and his family escaped the blaze and the cause of the fire remained under investigation. Jones was arrested Monday and charged with six counts including indecent sexual intercourse with a minor, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and related offenses. He was arraigned and held on $2 million bail, according to court documents. Wow, and these are the types of people we trust and leave our children with…so sad.
Ann Romney was offered a spot on Dancing With the Stars this season, and seriously considered doing it, but eventually passed, according to reports. The woman who would’ve been First Lady of the United States in 2013 actually appeared on last season’s finale and gushed that she was a big, big fan. Ann Romney and producers had several meetings to try to hash out the details of her appearing this spring, but Ann ultimately decided against it. She was approached shortly after her husband lost the 2012 election to President Barack Obama, since her schedule was suddenly very clear. A rep for the wife of Mitt Romney confirms, “Ann Romney was approached, but she declined. She will not be appearing on Dancing with the Stars .” Too bad. Would’ve been great to see her vie for the Mirror Ball. Wonder if she’d get more than 47 percent of the vote ? Sorry.
