Lindsay Lohan Likely To Serve A Fraction Of Her Sentence

L.A. County Sheriff spokesman says nonviolent female offenders generally only serve 25 percent or less of their sentences. By Kelley L. Carter Lindsay Lohan in court Tuesday Photo: Dave McNew/ Getty Images Right after Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating probation, a Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesman said she likely will only serve a fraction of the time. Steve Whitmore talked to reporters outside of the court Tuesday (July 6) and said that, because of overcrowding, women sent to jail for nonviolent crimes generally only serve 25 percent or less of their sentence. The exact time will depend on the wording of the judge’s order and the level of overcrowding, reports the Los Angeles Times. “A person [of] such notoriety will be kept away from the general population,” Whitmore added. Lohan, 24, also was sentenced to 90 days of inpatient rehab. The actress was tearful earlier in court before Judge Marsha N. Revel’s sentencing. “I wasn’t trying to get special treatment,” Lohan said in court. “I have to provide for myself. I have to work. Having said that, I did everything to balance my jobs and showing up. I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life. It’s my career. … I take responsibility for my actions. I’ve tried to do the best I can. It’s been such a long haul. I don’t want you to think that I don’t respect you.” Her plea wasn’t enough. Lohan had failed to attend alcohol-education classes , and the judge also cited several instances from over the past few years, saying the actress lied about drinking and taking drugs. “It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” Revel said in court. Lohan will serve her time in Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. She is scheduled to begin her sentence July 20. Prosecutors Throw the Book at Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan’s day of reckoning has arrived, and it’s not looking good as far as her attempts to evade jail for skipping mandatory alcohol education classes. She has now made good on the classes, but that wasn’t true in May, when she bailed on her last hearing and ended up free on bail wearing a SCRAM device. Whether she remains free rests with Judge Marsha Revel. Court proceedings began with a victory for the troubled star. Revel ruled out the matter of the SCRAM device going off after the MTV Movie Awards June 7. The hearing is now exclusively about whether Lindsay Lohan violated probation by not attending enough alcohol ed classes at the time of the last hearing.

Lindsay Lohan Due in Court For Probation Hearing

The troubled actress could be headed to jail if judge rules against her on Tuesday. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan Photo: Scott Wintrow/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan is due in court on Tuesday (July 6) for a probation revocation hearing that could land the once promising actress in jail again. According to The Associated Press, Lohan will appear before Judge Marsha Revel in a Beverly Hills, California, courtroom following the revocation of her probation in May, after she missed a scheduled hearing. The actress, who was traveling overseas at the time for the Cannes Film Festival, blamed her absence on a lost (or stolen) passport. While Lohan’s skipped court appearances and failure to comply with all of the terms of the sentence stemming from her 2007 DUI case have reportedly irritated the judge in the case, it’s possible the prosecutor could seek remedies other than additional jail time for the troubled 24-year-old starlet . The AP reported that Lohan could either be allowed to remain free, in which case she will likely begin work on her much-discussed biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace . Alternately, she could be ordered to jail, in which case she would be taken into custody immediately. It was not clear at press time what her potential sentence might be. Lohan was sentenced to three years probation in 2007 after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving. The plea followed two widely reported arrests earlier that year. She spent a total of 84 minutes in jail in that case. Her probation was extended by a year in October after she failed to fully complete court-mandated alcohol-education classes. Lohan is currently sporting an alcohol-monitoring anklet Judge Revel ordered her to wear in May after she missed a court date due to the passport snafu; Revel also scheduled Tuesday’s hearing at that time to determine whether Lohan had violated her probation. TMZ reported that Lohan, in anticipation of Tuesday’s hearing, spent part of her Fourth of July weekend in alcohol-education classes in an effort to meet her class requirements. Lohan’s SCRAM bracelet was set off after the “Mean Girls” actress attended an MTV Movie Awards afterparty, which in turn prompted Revel issue a warrant for Lohan’s arrest and double her bail to $200,000 . But Lohan’s attorney downplayed the incident, saying her. client had not had a drink . Do you think this should be the last chance for Lindsay Lohan? Share your thoughts in the comments.
