Stark Black Swan Posters Somehow Subtler (and Better) Than Actual Movie

Spoiler of the lowest order: Black Swan is chockablock with obvious swan imagery and a black/white motif that swallows the movie — even if the photography itself is swoon lake. (Laff.) But unless you’re hungry for psychodramatic, meth-level convulsions, you can actually glean the best parts of Black Swan through these new posters by design firm LaBoca. Check out their sanguine splendor after the jump.

Winter’s Bone Wins at Gotham Awards, Plus a Few Curveballs

Winter’s Bone made a serious bid to hang on to it’s Best Picture nomination in Movieline’s Oscar Index at last night’s Gotham Awards, taking home two awards including Best Feature. On the other hand, Best Documentary winner The Oath probably won’t make much Oscar headway, since it wasn’t even shortlisted . Check out the full list of winners and a rundown of the upsets in what was actually a fairly unpredictable awards show after the jump.

Bah, Humbug: 5 Better Scrooges Than Jim Carrey — and 5 Worse Ones

For those of us who thought Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf was a vast improvement over The Polar Express , A Christmas Carol (out this week from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment) wound up being a disappointing return to the rubbery, dead-eyed characters of that earlier Christmas flick. But at least give Jim Carrey points for trying — he provides the license-to-ham role of Ebenezer Scrooge with his full arsenal of grimaces and twitches and, if nothing else, totally pours himself into the character. (He’s a little less successful playing all the ghosts, but none of his doubling comes close to the creepiness of seeing Gary Oldman play Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim.)

Sarah Palin Spoils Bristol’s ‘Passion of the Christ Paso Doble’ Surprise

Sarah Palin’s a big fan of the ol’ Twitter ( and Alaska , in case you forgot), and she just tweeted a bizarre, abbreviated, and accidentally hilarious preview of her daughter’s routines on tonight’s Dancing with the Stars . Her 140-character splendor — in all its unedited, Mel Gibson-tinged glory — is after the jump.

The Wachowskis’ Colbalt Neutral 9 to Feature Gay Sex, Assassination Attempt

Been curious about what the Wachowskis were planning for Cobalt Neutral 9 , their gay love story set during the Iraq War? Vulture reports that the film will revolve around “found footage” (think Cloverfield ) of an American soldier named Butch, his gay Iraqi lover and their assassination attempt against then-president George W. Bush. In addition to that hot button plot turn, the two lovers will also have “graphically described sex” while wearing burqas. Needless to say, the Wachowskis are reportedly considering self-financing this one. [ Vulture ]
