True Detective brought real-life good friends and movie stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson to the world of television. That was an accomplishment in and of itself. But the opening episode of this HBO drama also featured a mesmerizing story, incredible scenery and two sterling performances, enough to have us hooked on the series and equal parts scared and excited to find out what happens next. True Detective Review The plot centers on a grisly murder by an apparent serial killer, someone into some messed up concept of religion and placing antlers in the naked corpses of his victims. McConaughey is simply incredible as Rust Cohle, a pessimistic (or a realistic , as he would say) homicide detective new to Louisiana, whose demeanor and view on life frightens his partner, Harrelson’s Martin Hart. Martin considers himself a straight-shooting, hard-working family man… but there’s clearly some darkness at play within him and it’s easy to see how the two are more similar than they initially appear. Only Cohle has accepted his demons, while Hart is in denial that he possesses any. The action doesn’t move quickly, but it does skip from 1995 to the present, where Cohle and Hart are being questioned by two younger law enforcement officials because it appears as though there supposedly solved crime from back in the day is somehow relevant once again. McConaughey is brilliant in these scenes, having essentially giving up on life, while Hart remains a bit more confident and sure of himself. Although time has clearly taken a toll on him as well. The series is dark, there’s no doubt about that. It’s gloomy and sort of depressing, but there’s some humor to be found in the exchanges between partners, in how irritated Martin gets by Rust’s entire personality. Golden Globes drama? What Golden Globes drama? The real action took place on Bravo last night, as The Real Housewives of Atlanta featured rude house guests, terrible friends and waterworks galore. Watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 6 Episode 11 Online First, there was Kenya, ruining Porsha’s surprise by telling NeNe that Porsha was moving into her neighborhood. Did NeNe respond with a celebratory fist pump or a squeal of you? Of course not. She made Porsha cry by telling her she’s a bad pal for not keeping her informed of this decision. The only question: Which is more annoying at this point, Porsha’s tears or Kenya’s complaining about them so loudly? Or, actually, maybe Kenya insulting Porha’s nice new home. Yup, that’s the winner. These ladies really know how to do good friendship. Of course, it’s also unclear why Porsha leased an 8,000-square foot home. For her and her dog. Yes, 8,000-square feet. Was this some kind of divorce strategy? Or is she just awful with money? Elsewhere, Phaedra made the solid point that house guests are akin to fish. They must be kicked out after three days. Seriously, Mal? Where on earth (or Mars… or Venus…) is it acceptable to show up on someone’s doorstep and announce you’re staying for two months? Kenya, meanwhile, was dealing with her own annoying house guests: her dad. He actually told her daughter she has ugly feet. Isn’t that sweet? He also refused to put out his cigars and said he’s not taking orders from women. Nice to see he thinks he’s living in 1912. At least there was some laughter, as Kenya invited NeNe and Cynthia over to paint. Are these really the women you lure over with pizza and beer and think you’ll actually get the job done that way? And, wait a second… if you’re driving a Bentley, can’t you afford to hire an actual painter? Perhaps the paint fumes got to her and that’s why she was playing with Baton Bob, who evidently passes for a “celebrity” in Atlanta. Kenya made wish to avoid twirling in the streets. Mama Joyce Says Bravo Edited Scenes To Make Her Look Bad Every mother wants to protect their child, but Mama Joyce acts like she wants to be the one to hold Kandi at night. We’re surprise poor Todd didn’t chuck the deuces a long time ago. According to Radar Online: During the current season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss’ outspoken mother, Mama Joyce, has been shown waging a brutal campaign against her daughter’s fiancé, Todd Tucker. But, in an exclusive interview, the Buress matriarch claims the show’s producers have edited her scenes to take her comments out of context, not show them in their entirety and make her look bad! “That upset me so bad,” Mama Joyce told Radar. “When they showed the scene of me walking into the house and seeing all the pictures of Todd on the wall I was not talking about his pictures!” On a recent episode, Atlanta fans saw an upset Mama Joyce commenting about the photos of Todd, but she told Radar that wasn’t an accurate portrayal of what REALLY happened. “I know Kandi had a decorator, her friend Carmon – and she put up all those pictures of Todd when he was a little boy,” she recalled. “I said, ‘Now that’s a damn shame,’ and what I really said was that shouldn’t be all him up there (on the wall). That shouldn’t be his wall. I said there were no picture of Riley or me. I didn’t just say there should be a picture of me. “ Mama Joyce said she only wanted pictures of her granddaughter to be on the wall. The reality star charged: “I said the pictures of Riley should be much higher and the pictures of Kandi’s daughter should be up there, not just pictures of Todd. But they didn’t show that. They only showed me saying it shouldn’t be just him.” Baffled at producers’ decision to edit her scenes, Mama Joyce bemoaned, “I don’t know why they did that. I allowed it to be like that, I guess. I guess since they don’t pay me, they can do whatever they want.” The only thing that could have changed the scenario, Mama Joyce said — a contract. Mama Joyce loves her contracts and prenups. She acts like a fool now…we can only imagine the fawkery that would occur if she was paid.

Some wigs are about to get pushed back. Nene’s Friend Finds Out Her Husband Dated Phaedra And Kandi She had to go to Savannah to find out her man smashed Phaedra and Kandi’s cakes to smithereens. Awkward. According to Radar Online: The ladies’ trip to Savannah, Georgia got off to a bad start on The Real Housewives of Atlanta – and the drama continues to heat up when NeNe Leakes’ NeNe’s pal, Mynique Smith, discovers that her husband Chuck used to date Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks! In next Sunday’s new episode, things get pretty awkward when Mynique confronts Kandi about her dating history. The personal trainer says she’s aware that Chuck and Kandi dated for “about two weeks,” but Kinda sets her straight and says she and Chuck were much closer than that. We dated when I was like 19, and then we dated again when I was 21,” she reveals. NeNe sums it up best when she tells the Bravo cameras, “Oh my gosh. I don’t think Chuck told Mynique everything and that sucks.” Mynique gets defensive and claims that her husband probably wasn’t too interested because they “didn’t last long.” Again, Kandi claims that she was the one who broke things off, even after Chuck got the seal of approval from Mama Joyce. Then, Kandi drops one final bombshell – much to Kenya Moore‘s delight. “I’m not the only one that dated him,” she stated nonchalantly. “Me and Phaedra dated him.” When she gets home, hubby has some explaining to do.
