Former MTV bad girl Kristin Cavallari ( Laguna Beach, The Hills ) says the opportunity to go Dancing With the Stars came along at the perfect time in her life, allowing her to turn the corner after her broken engagement to Jay Cutler . It seems like she’s off to a good start. “You have the body to ballroom-dance, girlfriend! You looked great,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. “I want to watch you dance more and more. You shine. You sparkle.” Kristin Cavallari & Mark Ballas – Cha Cha (DWTS Week 1) “It was a very good cha-cha, and it’s hard to keep up with Mark,” Inaba added. “He gives you very challenging choreography, and you have to keep up with him.” Kristin scored a 19 last night, landing her in the middle of the pack, but she even won praise from hard-to-please Len. Hornball Bruno? That was a given. “You know I love a bad girl; a bad girl with hot hips. I know you’ve got the full package to give that action,” he said. Agree? How do you think Kristin did?

Real Housewives of New York City Speak on Ousting

Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop have all been sacked. Bravo cut these four women loose from The Real Housewives of New York City late last week. While readers try to control their tears as a result of this development, a couple of the show’s now-former stars have spoken out about the firing. “I view any change as an opportunity to learn and grow,” said Barshop profoundly. “RHONY was great marketing platform for my national spa Completely Bare, and as an ambassador for children’s charities I was able to create more awareness. There are additional projects that I am considering. Stay tuned.” Oh, we will… NOT! Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen also took the opportunity to plug a product, telling Us Weekly : “After four seasons on Real Housewives of New York City, Simon and I are moving on. It’s a completely friendly departure and while it was their decision and not ours, we are in close communication with both Bravo and the production company about our next move, in addition to fielding outside offers. “Simon and I recently launched a home goods company, Aluxe Home, and we’ve been so involved in the textile market week that began today that it feels a bit like being shot out of a cannon!” Too bad they actually weren’t. This week on The Real Housewives of New York City, Sonja Morgan throws a Burlesque party and costumes are required as long as they show some skin. As always, THG recaps all the craziness in our +/- review! The Housewives have some serious mother / daughter bonding time with mixed results. Ramona takes Avery shopping … for a burlesque outfit? What exactly is she teaching her 16-year-old? Where to buy her bustiers and S & M gear? Minus 5 . But I must admit, Avery always seems to have more sense than her mother. She turns down an invite to the party and she earns a Plus 7 for telling Ramona that she’d look like a chicken in that feathered outfit.

Lindsay Lohan: A Free Woman!

Look out, every nightclub in Los Angeles: Lindsay Lohan is a free woman. Following 35 days under grueling, sprawling house arrest, the troubled actress had her ankle monitor removed at 10:20 a.m. local time today. At last check, she remained inside her Venice Beach, California condo, but was on her way to fulfill community service obligations at any moment. “I spoke with her yesterday and she told me she is eager to return to fulfilling her community service obligation which she has been unable to perform during house arrest,” Lindsay’s rep tells E! News. It was a difficult month-plus for Lohan, who was stuck inside her $2.25 million estate and forced to give interviews from the comfort of her living room sofa. We have no doubt she’s learned her lesson, scale back on her partying, resurrect her career and… darn. We almost got that out with a straight face. [Photo: WENN.com]

Countess LuAnn de Lesseps Release Music Video for "Chic C’est La Vie," World Groans

We really shouldn’t post this story under our “music” tag. But Countess LuAnn de Lesseps has released the official video for “Chic C’est La Vie,” the track she hopes will ratchet up her non-existent singing career. The Countess received help from from Real Housewives of New York castmates Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon, but couldn’t believe they were the only ones to volunteer. “It was very disappointing that the other ladies wouldn’t be part of it. The other girls didn’t come, they didn’t think it was appropriate. I didn’t want anyone to feel like they were being excluded so I invited everyone. Looks like Onika Maraj is on her diva-steez right now: Nicki Minaj tossed fellow celebs like her signature pink locks Thursday night at her Casio-sponsored concert at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. “She didn’t want anyone in her space,” a VIP witness told us. “She had all of the hallways cleared before she entered them, all of the rooms and all of the elevators.” Organizers held boldface guests including Estelle, Kelly Bensimon, Jessica White, Brittany Underwood and Fabolous from the entrance in the VIP area until she left.
