Celebrity of the Year Finalist #9: Jennifer Lopez

It’s that time of the year again. With 2011 drawing to a close, THG is here to present our 5th annual Celebrity of the Year Award. Before we arrive at the top spot, however, we’re counting down from number-10, honoring those that delivered the best scandals, most raunchy sex tapes and most ridiculous shenanigans of the past 12 months. The rankings kicked off last week with everyone’s favorite trainwreck, Lindsay Lohan . Now, it’s on to number-9 and the bootylicious artist who returned to national consciousness after years out of the spotlight… Jennifer Lopez ! J. Lo was named a new American Idol judge in late 2010 and didn’t waste any time using TV’s top-rated show to get her wayward career back on track. She released a new single as soon as season 10 premiered; she quickly established herself as a panelist who, like Paula Abdul, grew emotionally-invested in contestants – remember this crying clip ? – but, unlike Paula Abdul, was not insane. Lopez offered sharp commentary and critiques without the snark of Simon or the repetitiveness of Randy. She also took full advantage of high-definition televisions to remind the world: I AM GORGEOUS. After rising to prominence once again via Idol , Jennifer took a couple of strategic steps to ensure she’d remain in the headlines even after season 10 concluded: She dragged out contract negotiations . She was involved in a potential sex tape scandal . Even Kris Jenner had to be impressed by these savvy moves. Then, July hit – and J. Lo morphed back into a tabloid favorite due to her divorce from Marc Anthony. How was she dealing with the split? Did Anthony really cheat on her with a stewardess? With Jada Pinkett Smith ?!? The chatter kept coming, but Lopez remained mostly quiet, staying above it all in interviews and simply saying she still believed in love. Has she found it now with 24-year old backup dancer Casper Smart ? Probably not. But these two appear to be having a good time and, after the year we just described, can you blame Lopez for wanting to have some naked fun with a guy nearly half her age? Neither can we. We’ve missed Jennifer Lopez, we’re glad 2011 brought her back into our lives and, like Pitbull in the image above, we’re anxious to stand back and watch to see what 2012 brings for this beauty.

Angelina Jolie on 60 Minutes: Still a Bad Girl!

She’s been called “the most beautiful woman in the world,” and has often been a magnet for controversy, but Angelina Jolie remains at the top of her craft. Restless in her role as a movie star, the 36-year-old has turned to directing with a film she wrote about the Bosnian War, In the Land of Blood and Honey . In a recent interview airing last night, Angelina spoke to 60 Minutes ‘ Bob Simon about her career, her family, and the “darker times” she’s put behind her: Angelina Jolie 60 Minutes Interview “I didn’t know it was going to be so sensitive,” she said of her directorial debut, which details a love story between a Muslim woman and a Serbian jailer. She also talks about her dream of being a funeral director (seriously), but the obligatory soundbite that will get the most people talking came a bit later. Discussing her many humanitarian efforts, she admitted that her “dark side” has not fully receded. It’s just dormant. “I’m still a bad girl,” the star says. “I still have that side of me. It’s just, it’s in its place now. It belongs to Brad. Or it belongs to our adventures.” Read into that however you like. Do you like Angelina Jolie?

Kourtney & Kim Take New York Season Premiere Rekap: You’re My Wife Now!

The second, scripted season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York kicked off last night, and was impossible to take at face value, given the drama of the past few months. Because of the overexposure of Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, and the demise of her marriage to Kris Humphries, every scene of this nonsense takes on new meaning. That said, let’s break down the season premiere, THG plus-minus style, as we run down the many signs that Kim’s fake marriage was headed for a 72-day flame out: Hilariously, the show begins with celebrity gossip magazine covers and TV reports discussing the end of their union, weeks before Kim actually left him. Plus 19 . “You’re my wife now. It’s going to take a lot to get rid of me.” – Kris. LOL. Dude, these people do whatever the hell they want and it’s all for ratings. Minus 50 . Kim and Kris call each other “husband” and “wifey.” Cute. Plus 5 . Living together? Not so cute. They had never done so before, and it shows, as Kim like things neater than Kris, who could really give a f–k. “When I see a messy room, it literally ruins my day,” Kim says. Literally . Minus 28 . “I can’t live with Kris,” she says to her sister. “He’s such a slob.” Good thing she found out they were incompatible before they got married! Oh wait. Minus 31 . The producers set Kris up for a nervous breakdown, and while we feel bad for the guy, it’s a lot of fun to watch at times. Like when he arrives home to find Kourtney doing nude yoga with a naked dude and a few other girls. Plus 30 . Kourt tries to fake apologize for the scripted setup. Why bother? Minus 4 . “I’m excited to be Mason’s uncle.” – Kris. Plus 5 , because he was probably sincere, but once again, E! made him live with the kid, in an adjacent room no less. “It’s important to me that Kris bonds with Mason. He’s going to be a really good dad someday.” – Kim Kardashian . Read: Just not with my kids . Minus 12 . As Kim whines about her career obligations, Kris observes, “Baby, by the time you have kids, no one will probably care about you.” Plus 100 , because that probably sealed the divorce right there. Don’t ever call her irrelevant! At a welcome to New York party thrown in Kim and Kris’ honor, the latter obviously does not want to be there. Plus 8 for the fact that this makes Kris more human to us, but Minus 17 , because what did he expect here? “You care about that. I don’t give a f–k.” – Kris, re: everything. Plus 14 . We forgot Scott Disick is also on this show. What a douche. Minus 40 . Despite playing for the New Jersey Nets (he’s now a free agent ) last year, Kris does not really like New York! “It’s hard getting adjusted,” he says. “Everything in New York is screwing me up.” Namely his INSANE new in-laws. Plus 10 . And then the bomb: “I love you so much,” he tells Kim, before peacing out of NYC to train in his native Minnesota. Shades of things to come. Minus 15 . Kim notes, in a moment of reflection, as if trying to convince herself, that “I should definitely be supportive of my husband.” Yes you should. And enter into marriage for the right reasons and actually work hard on it. Minus 50 . She appreciates that Kris supports her career, whatever that is. Minus 12 . Kris tucks her in bed like he did the first time E! told him to when they first started dating and tells Kim he is grateful to get the hell out loves her. Plus 7 . An online petition calling for E! to cancel this krap has more than 168,000 signers. After this hour, you can make it 168,001. Plus 13 for starting that. EPISODE TOTAL: -59 .

Breaking Dawn Director Gave Fans ‘A Lot’ Of Sex

Bill Condon tells MTV News he tried ‘to give people the experience they had reading the book’ in ‘Part I.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Director Bill Condon on the set of “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Photo: Andrew Cooper/Summit a href=”http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/454504/moviemain.jhtml”> “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” features two of the most hotly anticipated moments in the entire “Twilight Saga.” First, love birds Bella Swan and Edward Cullen finally get it on. And later, in a far less tender scene, Bella endures a pretty gory birth to give life to her half-human, half-vampire daughter, Renesmee. Bill Condon knew all along that those two scenes were pivotal moments that he would need to get right onscreen. But keeping in mind the PG-13 rating the studio wanted to preserve, the director also knew that he had to tackle those intense sequences without going too far over the line. When MTV News caught up with Condon, he predicted that fans will be pleased with the final product (especially the sex scene), which hit theaters on Friday (November 18). As in the novel, the honeymoon scene plays out mostly through Bella remembering the passionate night the morning after, which allowed Condon to show the event in several parts. “I think when you see the movie you’ll see, you think you get it and then you get more of it and then you get more of it, which I think was part of the intention because it’s such a big thing — everyone’s been waiting for it,” he said. “We just wanted to make sure you got a lot of it when you got it.” And Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were good sports about the whole process, Condon said, though he admitted filming the steamy section got “kind of clinical.” The scene was carefully choreographed but the two lead actors were “so cool about it.” The birthing sequence, which easily could have pushed the film to an “R” rating, proved similarly challenging. Condon wanted to stay as true as possible to Stephenie Meyer’s depiction but he knew he couldn’t be too graphic. “You want to give people the experience they had reading the book, and that was incredibly powerful, the way Stephenie described it. “You can’t show everything, obviously, we have a [PG-13] rated movie,” he said. “But we did it through the point of view of Bella and what she can see as she’s giving birth. I think your imagination fills in a lot of that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Jay-Z Calls Watch The Throne Tour The ‘Best Party’

‘The most important thing is that the people that are coming to the concert are leaving there thrilled,’ Hov tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images The fans aren’t the only ones having a ball during Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘s Watch the Throne Tour. A hoarse Jay walked the red carpet of the GQ Men of the Year party in Hollywood on Thursday, and he could hardly contain his excitement. “We’re having a great time,” Hov told MTV News’ Jim Cantiello. “The most important thing is that the people that are coming to the concert are leaving there thrilled and we’re having an amazing time. As you see, I don’t have a voice,” he laughed. The tour, which kicked off last month in Atlanta , has been running for less than a month but has been met with rave reviews on each outing. Noted for its dual elevated stages and artsy video montages, Hov and ‘Ye’s grandiose WTT run has been one worthy of the royal rap duo. Aside from their Throne cuts, Jay and Kanye have pulled from their respective solo catalogs, performing early hits like “Where I’m From” and “Through the Wire,” as well as new favorites like “Empire State of Mind” and “Runaway.” The highlight, however, is the duo’s current single “N—as in Paris.” Toward the end of the opening show in Atlanta, the two MCs performed the song twice, the next night, three times. At recent New York and Miami concerts, the track has been performed as many as four times in a single night. The Throne are slated to hit Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun on Friday night (November 18) and Atlantic City on Saturday. “It’s like the best party you’ve ever been to every night,” Jay said. “It’s star-studded and it’s music and it’s just unbelievable.” Related Artists Jay-Z Kanye West

Tyga Says Lil Wayne Supports His Diddy-Dirty Money Tour Gig

‘You have to really go out and grind for your own and build your own fanbase,’ Young Money MC tells Sway during ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Tyga on “RapFix Live” Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News When Sean “Diddy” Combs decided to take his Last Train to Paris show on the road , he tapped one of Young Money’s brightest stars, Tyga, to come with him as an opening act. And even though Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour is running concurrently with Diddy-Dirty Money’s Coming Home trek, Tyga insists there are no conflicts between the camps at all. In fact, the YM soldier said Wayne encourages his artists to branch out. “Wayne told us: Don’t rely on him to make you hot, don’t rely on him for the hits. You have to really go out and grind for your own and build your own fanbase,” Tyga told Sway during MTV News’ “Rap Fix Live.” “That’s important. People respect that more, too, when you can build your own foundation and they can really get to you as an artist and not get to know you as a group.” The Grammy-nominated L.A. rapper said he has learned a lot by watching the D-DM stage show and that Combs often comes to him for performance tips as well. “Every time he comes to me after the show and is like, ‘How was that? Was the show dope? Tell me what you think,’ ” Tyga said. ” And I tell him stuff like, ‘Maybe you should add that song right there to keep the energy’ or whatever. It’s a lot of respect out there.” Diddy-Dirty Money’s 20-city tour kicked off last week in Minneapolis and will makes stops in Toronto, Boston and NYC before concluding in St. Louis on May 15. ‘Jersey Shore’ Fans In Miami Weigh In On Change Of Scenery

‘They bring a little life to Miami,’ one fan tells MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe Cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: MTV After bar-brawling, club-hopping and GTL-ing their way to pop-culture stardom, the “Jersey Shore” kids had to take things to the next level in season two. So the crew upped the ante by taking the drama to another shore. In the second season of the MTV reality hit, which kicked off last week, the gang fist-pumps its way through Miami, and for the most part, South Beach fans have been enjoying the party. “I love ‘Jersey Shore.’ It’s … crazy,” Francisco Santander told MTV News. Denise Mata concurred: “[There is] always drama there, and it’s fun to watch [the] fights and them getting drunk, and it’s just funny to me.” The “Shore” crew has partied its way into fans’ hearts but has also weathered criticism that the super-tanned, party-startin’ housemates — who proudly champion the term “guidos” — reinforce Italian stereotypes. David Gliottone enjoys the craziness but has issues with their image. “I like the fact that they’re Italian,” Gliottone said. ” I don’t like the way that they act sometimes, [because] I think it kind of brings a negative vibe to the Italian community.” Nora Weinberg said she thinks the “Shore” stars should keep the drama up north, but added that it’s cool they’re branching out beyond the boardwalk. “I think they should be in Jersey, but I think it’s fun that they can go to Miami,” she said. George Ott said the crew’s antics have reached beyond the shores of both Jersey and Miami to score fans Down Under. “[I’m a] huge fan of the show in New Zealand,” Ott said. “[I] love the boys [and] JWoww.” As entertaining as fans find the cast’s beachside escapades, one viewer said the “Jersey Shore” crew may have brought too much heat to Miami. “I think the ‘Jersey Shore’ cast is really crazy and outgoing and they bring a little life to Miami,” Cassandra said. “But they need to stick to Jersey because they’re not supposed to be here doing that stuff. You don’t see that here in Miami.” What do you think about the “Jersey Shore” cast being in Miami? Let us know in the comments below! Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
