Kristin Cavallari Defends Anti-Vaccine Stance: I’m Just a Mom, it’s Just My Decision!

Kristin Cavallari knows a lot of people don’t support her choice to not vaccinate her son, but she’s okay with that, saying it’s her personal choice. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live Tuesday, the pregnant former Hills star defended her anti-vaccine stance as “the best decision” for her family. “We got a lot of questions, Kristin, about your stand on vaccines,” Andy Cohen said, not beating around the Kristin Cavallari anti-vaccine bush. “Kat George wants to know, ‘How can you knowingly support the spread of potentially deadly diseases by not vaccinating your children?'” The reality star turned shoe designer, 27, replied, “Here’s the thing: At the end of the day, I’m just a mom. I’m trying to make the best decision for my kid,” “There are very scary statistics out there regarding what’s in vaccines and what they cause, asthma, allergies, ear infections, all kinds of things.” “And we feel like we’re making the best decision for our kids.” She notably did not include autism in her answer … this time around. Kristin Cavallari’s opinion first came to light last week when she confessed on the Fox Business show The Independents that she hadn’t vaccinated Camden. “You know what, I’ve read too many books about autism,” she said. “There is a pediatric group called Homestead, or Home First. They’ve never vaccinated any of their children, and they’ve never had one case of autism.” Somewhere, Jenny McCarthy is nodding … and others are baffled. Kate Gosselin: Returning to TLC For Kate Plus 8 Catch-Up Special! No Jon!

Kate Gosselin is returning to TLC with her brood, the network announced. A one-hour special this summer will catch us up on Kate Plus 8 … and Minus Jon. “In 2007, viewers first fell in love with one of the most talked about families in reality television history,” the network shared of the Gosselin family in a release. The Pennsylvania-based duo rapidly rose to fame, raising Cara and Mady, now 13, and sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel, age 9. The couple then dominated news with their off-screen antics, and bitter divorce in 2009. Jon & Kate Plus 8 became Kate Plus 8, then ended in 2011. The TLC special will get Jon & Kate fans “up to speed” on what has changed since, including how the kids have grown, and Kate’s “evolving life and career.” Finally, TLC plans to take a “look back” at some of the most memorable, “poignant family moments” experienced by the Gosselins through the years. Jon to Kate Gosselin: DIE DIE DIE! Don’t expect Jon and Kate to appear on screen together in many of those. Not surprisingly, there was no mention of Jon Gosselin’s name; Jon has firmly held his ground and spoken out against his children being on reality TV. He did, however, just star on Couples Therapy with girlfriend Liz Janetta . Jon made quite an impression there too, unleashing a profane rant about his “narcissistic” ex, saying that Kate Gosselin can f—ing die for all he cares. Kate has also joined the Celebrity Apprentice cast for 2014 … obviously. The TLC special of the Gosselin family will air in June, so it should be an eventful spring for Kate on TV, and Jon bashing the crap out of her for it.   Team Jon! Team Kate! What The Hell? Chinese Woman Lived With Bullet In Her Head For 48 Years

Wait, what? Woman Survives With Bullet In Her Head For 48 Years Most people couldn’t live 48 seconds with a bullet in their head! According to Want China Times: A 62-year-old woman in northeast China has had surgery to remove a bullet that had been lodged in her head for 48 years without her knowledge, according to local news website Nen.com.cn. A doctor at the First Hospital of China Medical University, a hospital affiliated with the university in Shenyang in northeastern China’s Liaoning province, successfully extracted a bullet 2.5cm long and 0.5cm in diameter from the head of the woman, surnamed Zhao. Over the past 10 years, Zhao has experienced a chronic stuffy nose, headaches and swollen lymph nodes. She has relied on anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve the pain. After undergoing the surgery, she realized that what she thought was a small stone that struck her right temple when she was 14 years old was actually a stray bullet. “I am happy that the bullet did not kill me, I am grateful to it for allowing me to live and have the opportunity of my life with my family,” Zhao said. Earlier, Zhao had gone to be examined after the pain in her nose became increasingly unbearable and a doctor found there was a metal object inside her nose. This doctor told her it would be necessary to cut her nose and upper lip to remove it, but Zhao was scared of the thought of surgery and did not proceed at that time. Eventually, however, the pain became too great and Zhao decided to undergo surgery. The doctor who operated on her did not cut her nose and upper lip to take out the bullet, but instead used a minimally invasive procedure. We don’t get how she could repeatedly tolerate massive headaches and a painful stuffy nose for an entire decade. She’s one strong woman.

Some women don’t deserve to have ovaries. Mother Leaves Kids In House Covered In Feces And Infested With Insects Child protected services needs to take their kids away and never give them back. According to WFXG: Two kids were found alone in a Richmond County house Thursday with no heat or supervision and very little food. Deputies say the home is insect-infested with piles of dirt and trash everywhere. The kids told officers they haven’t seen their mother in days. “I was very concerned about the well being of the kids. I noticed that when I have been coming over to her house, they’re playing in the streets,” said Vanessa Schubert, the suspect’s sister. Vanessa Schubert said she called the sheriff’s office on her sister. She said her sister has a drug abuse problem and she leaves her seven kids home alone all the time. With the youngest being only three months old, something had to be done. “She’d be at her boyfriend’s house, leaving kids watching kids and sometimes I’d be worried about them not having anything to eat,” Vanessa Schubert told WFXG. According to the incident report, deputies found piles of dirt, hair, dog feces, and clothes everywhere and the only food in the home was three slices of ham, mayonnaise and a bag of sugar. Her sister, Bethany Marie Schubert, was arrested and charged with four counts of deprivation of a minor. Those poor babies! WFXG

When #JennyAsks, people answer – although not with the responses she had in mind. The outspoken anti-vaccination activist Jenny McCarthy tried to hold a Twitter chat on Thursday night. “What is the most important personality trait you look for in a mate? Reply using #JennyAsks,” tweeted the co-host of The View. Rather than answers like “A great personality” or “A sense of humor”, many people responded with criticisms of her claims that childhood vaccinations can be linked to autism. “My ideal mate? Smart, funny, independent and without their own Internet death-toll meter,” said one user. “Someone who puts the interests of the community ahead of preserving their own absurd, unshakable ignorance,” tweeted another. “Somebody who gets that refusing vaccines because of ‘toxins’ and then shilling for e-cigs makes you a pathetic hypocrite,” shot back a third. The entire hashtag is full of vaccination discussion, arguments and articles instead of…whatever the original question was. Jenny McCarthy’s hosting and acting credits have paled in comparison to her notoriety for claiming vaccinations caused her son Evan’s autism. Recently fellow blond c-lister Kristin Cavallari revealed similar views, saying she’s “read too many books” to vaccinate her kids. Lamar Odom Quits Spanish Basketball Team After Injury Poor thang. According to US Magazine: Lamar Odom has officially quit the Spanish basketball team Baskonia (known as Laboral Kutxa) after suffering an injury, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm. “The tests carried out in New York by Lamar Odom’s trusted medical team, with the knowledge of the club, have shown that the player is suffering from lumbar radiculitis, which could keep him out of action for up to two months,” a spokesman for Laboral Kutxa tells Us in a statement. “The player therefore terminates his current contractual relationship with the club. The north American pivot will complete his recovery in the United States.” (Lumbar Radiculitis is a painful spinal injury that causes lower back pain.) “Baskonia hopes Lamar Odom’s recuperation process goes well and it leaves open the possibility of renewing its relationship with the player once his injury has healed,” the statement continues. “Baskonia would like to thank the player’s involvement during the time he has been in Vitoria and leaves open the possibility of renewing the relationship depending on how his injury evolves in the coming months.” As previously reported, Odom, 34, recently returned home to the states after his injury, and it was unclear whether or not he would go back. Khloe Kardashian’s estranged husband had only played two games for the team so far, racking up a total of 22 minutes on the court. “I’m very grateful for the understanding,” Odom said in a taped interview with a team rep. “Not only the people of the Baskonia basketball organization, but the people — who’ve shown an appreciation for me and not just a basketball player. This is so tragic. Boy Accidentally Shot Dead His Cousin Playing With Gun When will these parents learn to keep these guns out of their kids reach? According to WKYC: Kent City Schools is mourning the loss of one of its students today. An 11-year-old boy was killed in Franklin Township on Wednesday in what appears to be an accidental shooting. The alleged shooter is his 15-year-old cousin. According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, the two were home enjoying a snow day when it quickly turned tragic. The boys were playing with a gun when it went off. Channel 3 News has decided not to disclose their names, but we did obtain a recording of the 911 call. On the phone with 911, a young male caller yells, “Oh my god! He shot him with a pistol. … They were messing with the guns downstairs.” The 911 dispatcher asks, “So it was an accident?” The caller responds, “Yea, it was a total accident.” While authorities investigate how the boy and his 15-year-old cousin got access to the semi-automatic weapon, Stanton Middle School is coping with their loss. Principal Anthony Horton said it’s been a very solemn day. “A lot of our students wrote cards for the family, poems, pictures and stuff like that,” Horton said. “He was a well-liked young man.” That boy had his whole life ahead of him and his death could have been prevented with proper supervision. Their In a World Like This Tour went so well (apparently) in 2013, the reunited Backstreet Boys have decided to extend it into this summer – with Avril Lavigne! The late ’90s live as the singer will join the group as opening act for a two-month foray into North American amphitheaters, according to reports. After a string of Canadian shows in early May, the tour will return to the U.S. for 23 concerts, beginning May 22 at the WaMu Theater in Seattle, Wash. “We really wanted to put together a great show and do our best to give everyone their money’s worth,” Backstreet’s Brian Littrell said in a press release. “Avril is an unbelievably talented artist who’s a perfect fit.” If only they could get her husband Chad Kroeger to join.
