Her life is an exaggerated version of what happens for so many children of rich families who go on to start massive businesses. Jeff Bezos launched Amazon himself … with a loan of $300,000 from his parents. And even if someone’s parents had no money or connections or reality shows to offer their kids, some argue that no one is truly self-made. Public roads, public schools, public infrastructure, and society itself — all of these things contribute to accomplishments of rich and poor alike. Rachel Held Evans, a very popular Christian author whose interesting work went against traditional conservative beliefs, passed away early Saturday morning after a lengthy hospitalization. She was 37 years old. The tragic news was shared and confirmed by husband Dan, who told fans on his wife’s website that Rachel was “slowly weaned from” her medically induced coma after experiencing massive brain swelling. This condition proved, ultimately, to be “not survivable.” “This entire experience is surreal. I keep hoping it’s a nightmare from which I’ll awake. I feel like I’m telling someone else’s story,” Dan wrote, prior to thanking his Rachel’s friends, family members and followers for their continued prayers and support: “I cannot express how much the support means to me and our kids. “To everyone who has prayed, called, texted, driven, flown, given of themselves physically and financially to help ease this burden: Thank you. “We are privileged. Rachel’s presence in this world was a gift to us all and her work will long survive her.” A Dayton, Tennesee native, Rachel penned such best-selling books as “Searching for Sunday” and “Faith Unraveled.” Other well-known works included ”A Year of Biblical Womanhood” and “Inspired,” as her website said Evans wrote about “faith, doubt and life in the Bible Belt.” She often challenged the evangelical community by addressing sexism and racism and “championing voices of people who have been marginalized in the church,” including the LGBTQ community, said Sarah Bessey, a writer and friend of Rachel’s. This turned the author into a hero to many readers and a polarizing presence in the religious community to her critics. Evans was in the hospital for about three weeks prior to her passing. On April 14, she announced on Twitter that she was in the hospital “with a flu + UTI combo” and had also contracted a “severe allergic reaction to the antibiotics” she had been given. At the time, the wroter lamented that she wouldn’t be able to watch the Game of Thrones final season premiere live that evening. Several days later, on April 19, it was clear that something was seriously wrong. This is when Dan delivered his first update on his wife’s health, writing that while she was receiving treatment for an infection, Rachel started “exhibiting unexpected symptoms,” which included “constant seizures.” Evans made headlines when she explained in a blog post that she left the evangelical church in 2014 to focus on building a new church community that would accept women as ministers, gay Christians and “those who refuse to choose between their intellectual integrity and their faith.” This was considered a novel concept at the time. He still is, in the eyes of many. Evans also served on President Barack Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. She spoke at churches, conferences and universities around the country. On April 28, two days after Evans had been transported to another facility, her husband updated fans once again. He said that doctors were working to “find a combination of medicines” that would allow her to be slowly “weaned from the coma medication.” Two days after this, Dan shared that physicians had begun the process of bringing Evans out of her coma… … and that was the last we heard from him, until he announced that his wife had died. Evans is survived by her husband, as well as their two young children: a three-year son and a daughter, who will turn 1 later this month. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed away. A Detroit-based boxing gym is paying it forward by providing underserved teenage girls with prom dresses so they won’t have to miss out on that special moment, the Detroit Free Press reported. Those who operate the gym transformed one of the facility’s rooms into a mock boutique where teens have been coming in to choose from a collection of new and gently-used dresses that were donated locally and from individuals across the country. The teens were also able to choose items from a collection of jewelry, handbags, and shoes to complete their looks. Aware of how costly prom can be, Harrison and his team wanted to host the prom dress drive to ease the financial issues that many students in the local community are dealing with. “It lifts a financial burden. We want to help other girls. Prom can cost so much,” said DeArra Henderson , who is leading the community outreach for the initiative. Harrison, who took home the World Boxing Council’s super welterweight title last year, has continually used his gym as an avenue to give back to his community. The gym has a tutoring center that serves nearly 50 kids each day. “He’s like a parent to each and every one of these kids,” his girlfriend Jasmine Bradley , who oversees the gym’s tutoring center, said in a statement . “And that’s why they love him so much. They feel it. They want to be better than him. They want to be like him. And how it really, really looks like she's already made the choice to take divorce off the table. 1. Poor Nugget On Monday, David beat and then shot Jenelle’s dog, Nugget. We’ve heard so reports about all that went down, but let’s start with the facts. 2. The “Proof” David said that he did it because Nugget bit Ensley, and he shared this photo as proof, but as we all can see, the dog didn’t even break the skin. 3. Also This Besides, even if the dog did bite the kid, there are many solutions that would be better than shooting it in the backyard. They could have re-homed it, they could have done some training, they could have taught their kids how to interact with animals. 4. Just Terrible In texts with a friend that Jenelle shared, she said that David hit the dog before he shot it, and that he used a shotgun, which is just insane. 5. Now for the Reports Reliable news sites have said that sources claim David viciously beat Nugget before getting the gun, and that when he came back inside he was “covered in blood.” 6. The former MTV star himself has admitted to killing his family dog (Nugget) because the canine snapped at his young daughter, Ensley. According to various reports, Eason grew so incensed at the canine this past Saturday that he grabbed the dog off the couch and beat it bloody with his bare hands after Nugget made a move in the direction of the aforementioned toddler. By Eason’s own video account (below), Ensley was not especially hurt by the so-called attack… … but this didn’t stop Eason from violently assaulting the dog before taking it into the woods and shooting it dead. I’m speechless,” Evans wrote on Instagram hours after Eason took the dog’s life. She added; “You were my side kick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me. You still had a lot to learn and a lot to grow from your lessons. “Everyday I wake up you’re not here, when I come home you’re not here, when I go to bed… you’re not here. You’re gone forever and there’s no coming back.” Amid talk that Evans is FINALLY considering a divorce , Jenelle has simply said the following to Us Weekly: “At this time, we are dealing with this rough situation. I want to focus on what’s best for me and my kids.” That’s fair and understandable — but it seems impossible to imagine that what’s best for these kids is not to get them as far away from Eason as humanly possible. By now, you’ve probably heard about what is arguably the most appalling scandal in the sordid history of the Teen Mom 2 franchise. Jenelle Evans’ husband, David Eason, shot and killed her dog in what’s been described by some insiders as a fit of rage. Obviously, it’s a horrifying situation, but thankfully, Jenelle did the right thing for once. Shortly after the shooting, she took her two youngest kids (eldest son Jace is on a cruise with his grandmother) and fled to Kentucky and the home of her longtime friend Jamie Wilshire. In interviews and social media posts, Jenelle confirmed that she is “separated” from Eason . But now, many fans are wondering what will come next. After all, Jenelle and David have separated on numerous occasions, Each time, they were happily reconciled within days of the split. But we have good news for those hoping that Jenelle will think of her children — not to mention her pets — and kick David to the curb. According to Radar Online, divorce remains Jenelle’s most likely course of action as she weighs her options going forward. “Jenelle is definitely considering divorcing David after he killed her dog,” a source close to the situation tells Radar. “This could be the end for them because she is so upset about what happened and the cruelty of him killing her do.” The insider says that Jenelle is currently holding off on filing because she’s “scared” of what David might do when he finds out she’s leaving him. During this ongoing Southern Charm custody battle, Kathryn Dennis expressed that she urgently needs sole custody of her two children. She also asked that the court enjoin her disgraced ex Thomas Ravenel from allowing any girlfriends around their kids. Thomas is firing back, accusing Kathryn of being a hypocrite who has her boyfriend take care of her kids. Thomas doesn’t appreciate Kathryn Dennis’ request for increased child support. The now widely reviled Charleston playboy certainly doesn’t like that she’s asking the court to award her sole custody. And he clearly doesn’t love that she’s demanding that he not introduce Kensie and Saint to any of his skanks. Kathryn also wants Thomas to be ordered to not drink around the children. Now, in documents obtained by The Blast , Thomas is retaliating with his own requests for the judge. First and foremost, Thomas argues that the filing seeking an emergency custody order is nothing short of a farce. Why? Because nothing has changed, so he doesn’t see how there could be an emergency. Thomas also wants the judge to refuse Kathryn’s demand that he refrain from having any girlfriend around his kids. (Notably, his ex Ashley Jacobs is mentioned by name in Kathryn’s filing, but Ashley claims that she hasn’t been in South Carolina in ages) According to court documents, Thomas argues that Kathryn is just trying to harass him and control his life. Then he retaliates with his own accusations. He doesn’t want Kathryn Dennis’ boyfriend , Hunter Price, around his children. Thomas claims that she has Hunter over while she has the kids. In fact, he claims that the country singer stays overnight while she has custody. Thomas even accuses Kathryn of leaving Kensie and Saint in Hunter’s charge, having him take care of the kids alone. He would also like for Kathryn to pay him child support. Notably, Thomas is part of a dynastic family and has an estimated net worth of $6 million. But he says that Kathryn should be the one paying him, on the grounds that she (allegedly) makes six figures per year. Notably, his claima bout her salary checks out. We’ve looked into how much Southern Charm stars are paid , and that comes out to six figures per season. And then there’s the deeply personal accusation. Thomas alleges that Kathryn told their older child that he wanted to hurt and kill their mother. (That is … just not something that we can imagine Kathryn saying to her very young children) He doesn’t want to be disparaged by her any further. Thomas is asking the court to deny Kathryn’s request for sole custody, and to cut down on her visitation time. He wants to suspend her time with Kensie and Saint entirely until Hunter is out of the picture, or at least kept away from their home. Thomas, who once went to prison on drug charges, continues to double down on his claim that Kathryn is some sort of unhinged druggie. He says that random drug tests may somehow be necessary for Kathryn. Considering that Thomas is facing a trial for rape , many don’t see him as the best arbiter for what courts should decide. Our entire little family is ecstatic!” The pair got married in 2008 and are already parents to Mackynzie, 9, Michael, 7, Marcus, 5, Meredith, 3, and Mason, 19 months. Many observers are likely focusing on the word redemption used by Anna above — because it tells the story of why we are so taken aback by this pregnancy news. Back in the spring of 2015, Josh was forced to admit that he molested his own sisters when he was a teenager.
