My name is Sarah, I’m 16 years old from Canada and my Bieber experience was on December 21st at the “Home For the Holidays” concert in Toronto, ON. This isn’t a story about meeting Justin, but it was my first time ever seeing him in concert, which was an experience good enough for me. I get Justin’s tweets sent to my phone and a few weeks or so before the concert Justin announced on his Twitter that he was having something special planned for Canada. The second I read that tweet I started crying because I could possibly have the chance to see him in person. He didn’t announce where, when or any details, but knowing he was coming was good enough for me. That day at school I couldn’t concentrate because I kept day-dreaming about possibly seeing him. About a week after that Much tweeted that he would be coming to Toronto (where I live) but they weren’t giving any details about this “secret” concert. My dreams were a little crushed but I kept Beliebing. A couple days after that Much tweeted again that they would be announcing how to get tickets. I started freaking out and called my best friend who already knew about the concert, and we started planning how to get tickets and got really excited about the possibility of going. They finally said that tickets would go on sale on Sunday at 4pm on the Saturday before. I had a really bad flu (so I should’ve slept pretty easily that night) but I woke up every hour because I was so nervous about not getting tickets. At around 3:45pm on Sunday my Dad, Mom, Brother and I set up seven computers in the kitchen to try and get through to get tickets. Not a single computer at my house got through, but luckily one of the ones at my best friends house did and we got tickets in the balcony that were 5th row. I was so happy I cried my eyes out. Every night until the concert I couldn’t sleep because of my excitement. The night before my mom had to give me sleeping pills because she knew I’d be up all night if I didn’t take them. The day finally came and school went by extremely slowly. After school my best friends mom picked me up and we went to her house to get ready. We wore JB santa hats, shirts, tattoos and bracelets. The car ride down was pretty fast and we went out for dinner after picking up the tickets. After dinner we went into the line up to get into Massey Hall and met some other Beliebers, then shortly went inside to find our seats. They were an amazing view and right beside the stage. I couldn’t believe I was going to be so close to him. We then went and bought some of his merchandise and made our way back to our seats to wait for him. 45 minutes after the concert was supposed to start, Scooter came on stage saying that he was running a bit late but would be on shortly. I asked one of the security guards how long the concert would be so I could tell my dad when to get us, and she said about an hour. Finally Justin came on stage and sang “Baby” I cried and sobbed the entire song because I couldn’t believe I was seeing him with my own two eyes. The concert ended up being two hours long, and Justin was asked to finish off multiple times, and he would respond with things like “I’m not done yet, Elf. You guys want another song right?” . The concert was so special because no one else would be able to see one like this and he even picked people in the audience to choose what song he would sing next. It was honestly the best night of my life. I got home and didn’t go to sleep until about 2am because I was still in shock from seeing him. It was the best day of my entire life and I am so thankful I was one of the lucky fans to get tickets. I will never forget this day, and will never give up on my dream of meeting him. Justin taught me to “believe” and “never say never” which I have been doing, and which have helped my dreams come true.  Thank you so much Justin for this amazing experience.  I hope to see you on your Believe tour this year. – @sarahluvsjus10 Read more from the original source: My name is Sarah, I’m 16 years old from Canada and my…

Making It Rain On Them Hoes: San Francisco Raises Their Minimum Wage To Just Above $10

Ten dollar HOLLER! San Francisco just became the first U.S. city to raise their minimum wage above $10. Well that’s a “lil positivity” at least! The sad part about it is that while the increase will benefit non-salaried workers, it’s not gonna help them as much as they probably need it — and the worst news is the increase may put some small businesses out of commission! San Franciscans passed a proposition in 2003 that requires the city to increase the minimum wage each year, using a formula tied to inflation and the cost of living. It’s just another way the progressive people of the City by the Bay have shown their support for the working-class in a locale where labor unions remain strong and housing costs are sky high. Karl Kramer of the San Francisco Living Wage Coalition said a decent wage for a single adult without children in the city would be $15, and that doubles when you have at least one child or more. But like other advocates of better wages, he’s still pleased that San Francisco will be the first in the nation to top $10. “It helps workers’ morale in a time of economic crisis; they feel that they’re able to tread water and get some relief from the recession,” said Kramer. While the city is at the forefront of attempting to provide a decent living wage, most employees say it’s still not a wage to live on, that the 32-cent hike seems like peanuts. And some employers say it could lead to layoffs by small businesses already forced to pay federal, state and city payroll taxes as well as a slew of other city-mandated taxes. Daniel Scherotter, chef and owner of Palio D’Asti, an upscale Italian restaurant in the Financial District, said the city’s minimum wage hike from $9.92 to $10.24 means that his highest-paid employees — the waiters who make most of their income from tips — will see more money in their pockets while his salaried kitchen staff will have to take the hit. If Scherotter raised menu prices to make up the difference, he’d risk going out of business in this economy. What the average San Franciscan may not know, he said, is that business owners also must pay another $1.23 to $1.85 an hour per employee for health-care coverage if they don’t offer health insurance. San Francisco is also the only city in the state that charges a payroll tax of 1.5 percent; it also mandates nine paid sick days annually per employee. “So that drives me nuts, that as a chef, I have to cut my kitchen allowance,” Scherotter said. “What I pay for a waiter is more than double what Manhattan pays, it’s more than double what Chicago pays, and it’s four times what Boston pays. And those are … other big, expensive, pro-labor cities. But I pay what they all pay added together for tipped employees.” Scherotter said the double whammy of recession and wage hikes has led to eight layoffs in his kitchen in the last four years. “We hear that all the time,” said Steve Falk, president and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. He said that by the time you add up all the mandates and taxes that city employers must pay for their minimum-wage workers, the payroll burden is at least 25 to 40 percent higher than other Bay Area cities. He gave the example of catering companies bidding for the contract at the city’s Treasure Island. In the end it went to a Napa firm over a San Francisco catering company because Napa was able to come in lower. “You can’t on one hand as a city impose mandates and fees on a local business and then exclude them because their costs are too high when they go to bid on a city contract or a city service,” Falk said. The chamber of commerce is calling on the city to build in a 25 to 30 percent bid allowance for San Francisco companies. “Fortunately, it’s a very attractive place to own a business and businesses thrive here because of the number of visitors,” Falk said. “But we always worry: where’s the tipping point?” That tipping point needs to lean toward the worker, said David Madland, director of the American Worker Project at the Washington, D.C.-based Center for American Progress Action Fund. He said the best studies on minimum wage indicate that the benefits outweigh the burdens placed on employers. “I think it’s a big deal when a city is making a commitment that says, `Our workers are going to get paid a livable wage for a day’s work,”‘ he said. “It’s also very important that in today’s economy when a core problem is lack of demand … that a city is actively taking steps to put more money into consumers’ pockets.” Source h1> More On Bossip! Yesterday morning, an Occupy Boston member told me a city official said they had to have a proper way to clean their dishes. So, a donor gave them a sink. Great, right? Well, last night, the Boston Police – in riot gear – showed up and forcibly removed the kitchen sink, much to the dismay and over protests from the occupiers. This also seems to be in violation of a restraining order issued to protect… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Crooks and Liars Discovery Date : 02/12/2011 04:12 Number of articles : 2

‘Paranormal Activity 3’: Seven Burning Questions Answered

From how to top the ‘cabinet scare’ in ‘PA 2’ to the setup behind Bloody Mary, the film’s directors reveal their secrets. By Eric Ditzian Paranormal Activity 3 Photo: Paramount Pictures On Friday, after the directors of “Paranormal Activity 3” helped us reveal 10 secrets about their horror sequel , we promised that on Monday, once fans had actually be able to check out the movie, we’d deliver a slew of answers to burning questions. And check it out, fans most certainly did. “PA 3” reeled in $54 million at the box office over its first weekend. That’s a lot of money for a lot of screams and, likely, a lot of sore throats today. So you guys deserve it: Read on for directors Henry Joost’s and Ariel Schulman’s answers to many of the eye-popping moments in the flick (needless to say, major spoilers exist below). How did they make everything fall in the kitchen? Henry Joost : “All summer, people were like, ‘How do we top the cabinets blowing open?’ [from the previous film].” Ariel Schulman : ” ‘The cabinet scare! The cabinet scare!’ ” Joost : “It was just so regular. We all have cabinets, but they’ve never done that before. It’s the last thing you expect to happen. So we were brainstorming and brainstorming. I wanted Randy’s dead body to drop from the ceiling. And [screenwriter] Chris Laden was like, ‘What about all the stuff in the kitchen?’ That was massive rigging for special-effects crew. It was so beautiful. It was like an art installation. It was all practical.” Schulman : “We did one take. We rigged everything to a hinge and had one button. You say go and it just launches.” Joost : “The release is staggered. The stuff gets closer to the camera, which is something you don’t even register, but it is 100 times better than everything falling at once.” Wait, you were going to kill Randy? Schulman : “We never killed Randy. We talked about it. The character who knows something is wrong and leaves and then meets his death somewhere else because the demon has followed him. But we never killed him.” Where did the idea for Bloody Mary come from? Schulman : “Chris Laden had been wanting to bring back Bloody Mary, which was a great idea. And we’d been wanting to do a scene in total darkness.” Joost : “We shot that scene three different ways. We shot the version that’s in the trailer, where it’s just the girls. And then we shot it with Dennis, Randy and Katie. The first two times were good, but we felt like we could take it to the next level. On set, we came up with the rattling door. We were like, ‘Can you make something in the room fly out of the room?’ ” Schulman : “Not only is the acting improvised, but a lot of the writing is. That scene starts off with Randy and Katie playing Bloody Mary and Randy gets scratched. End of scene. But it felt like it could get scarier. So we huddled and said, ‘What if the demon is right outside the door and just slamming on it?’ And we just went from there.” Where is Julie’s husband? Will we ever see him again? Schulman : “Maybe. Gotta leave some questions kind of unanswered!” What exactly happened at the end? Schulman : “The grandmother is the leader of a coven that is calling forth a demon. That demon is requesting a male host, a child. Someone has made a deal with the devil in return for a boy somewhere along this family lineage. That hasn’t happened yet. It happens in ‘Paranormal 2.’ In ‘Paranormal 2,’ the grandma is forcing the issue. Once that boy is had, she will be there with her coven and the demon in order to deliver the baby.” Joost : “Dennis is in the way, and ultimately Julie is too.” So at the end, the creepy women are going to have a s

When Super Hero-ing Goes Wrong: Phoenix Jones Gets Arrested For Trying To Be A Real Life Batman

It looks like there are real super heroes running around…but they don’t know that stuff gets real when you’re not in a comic book. The real-life super hero Phoenix Jones, has gained a big of notoriety for running around in a super hero costume and trying to fight crime. He’s even got a sidekick and little posse of crime fighters. But he may have crossed the line this summer. Jones pepper sprayed a group of women that he thought were fighting. According to the women (and the police), all they were doing was having a dance battle. The police weren’t pleased: “Our message has been the same from the beginning, if you see something that warrants calling 911, call 911,” said Seattle police spokesman Det. Mark Jamieson. “Just because he’s dressed up in costume, it doesn’t mean he’s in special consideration or above the law. You can’t go around pepper spraying people because you think they are fighting.” Jones said he thought he “witnessed a hit-and-run/attempted murder of a man and he responded to stop it.” Regardless, we commend Jones for trying to do what’s best. But also want him to sit down somewhere before he gets himself hurt. Why doesn’t he just become a cop and collect comic books like the rest of normal human civilization?

Michael Jackson’s Bodyguard And Chef Testify

Both describe Dr. Conrad Murray as panicked on the day of MJ’s death. By Kara Warner Michael Jackson’s bodyguard Alberto Alvarez testifies in court on September 29 Photo: Getty Images The third day of testimony in the manslaughter trial against former Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray once again featured former members of Jackson’s staff, bodyguard Alberto Alvarez and chef Kai Chase. Alvarez took the stand first Thursday (September 29) to describe his arrival on the scene. He claimed when he entered the room, he saw Murray performing chest compressions on Jackson with one hand, and that when Murray heard Alvarez enter, he made the frantic request for Alvarez to remove several vials of propofol — the potent anesthetic that was part of the official cause of Jackson’s death — from the room before he called for an ambulance. Jackson’s former personal chef was next to testify. After going through a list of the food items she prepared regularly for MJ and his children, mostly healthy meals like granola with almond milk and juice blends, Chase revealed that on the day of Jackson’s death, she was in the middle of preparing his lunch when a worried and panic-stricken Murray burst into the kitchen and shouted for her to “get help, get [son] Prince and get security.” Chase said she “did as she was told” and went into the den to alert Prince and that she did her best to keep the children calm. Testimony is set to resume again Friday at 8:45 a.m. PT. Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and administering the dose of propofol that caused Jackson’s death and faces four years in prison and the loss of his medical license if found guilty.
