Jane the Virgin, CW’s hit drama starring new television darling and Golden Globe Winner Gina Rodriguez, is back for its second season on Monday, Oct. 12. But for those who can’t wait for more dramatic twists and gaudy turns, a short novel based on the show’s fictional telenovela, The Passions of Santos, is now available […]
Warning: unless you want to be celebrating Bella Thorne ‘s upcoming 18th birthday from a jail cell, you’re going to want to ignore these pictures of the teenage troublemaker going see-through at Macy’s Fashion’s Front Row event at Madison Square Garden. In fact, I think this might be the most illicit thing to happen at MSG since last season’s Knicks games. Either way, let’s move it along. Photos: WENN.com
In slightly less surprising NBA free agency news than LeBron returning to Cleveland , the New York Knicks have severed ties with Lamar Odom. The 34-year-old never even suited up for the orange and blue. Knicks president, Phil Jackson, who coached Lamar for five years in his prime with the L.A. Lakers, just signed Odom in hopes of revitalizing his career. So much for that. “Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player,” Jackson said. “We found it necessary to free up the roster spot.” He did not elaborate on why the Knicks ended Odom’s two-year contract after less than three months, and without him ever playing in a game. You can imagine a whole host of reasons, though, if you’re a Keeping Up With the Kardashians devotee or read any amount of celebrity gossip. His last stint in the NBA was in 2012-13 with the L.A. Clippers, but last summer, during the 2013 offseason, Odom was arrested on a DUI charge. He reportedly abused crack cocaine (the Lamar Odom crack video was an all-timer) and cheated on his wife, Khloe Kardashian, with various women. Khloe has since filed for divorce and sold the home the couple shared, which has been featured (and robbed) on the current season of Keeping Up. At least the Knicks resigned Carmelo Anthony the same day. Khloe and Lamar in Happier Times 1. Lamar with Kim and Khloe Lamar Odom poses here with Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian. He has since fallen on hard time.
The NBBA? Larry Johnson Says NBA Players Should Form Black Owned Basketball League Via NYPost Knicks executive and former player Larry Johnson had a decidedly different but still strong reaction to the racially insensitive remarks Clippers owner Donald Sterling is alleged to have made. On Saturday night, Johnson tweeted: “Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own, Own team own League! To For Self!!’’ The initial indication was Johnson was calling for an all-African-American league complete with black ownership. It wasn’t the first time Johnson, who is black, concerned himself with the fact the NBA’s ownership is mostly white while its players are mostly black. During the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs, Johnson caused a stir by saying: “We’ve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.” When asked at the time why he referred to his teammates as slaves, Johnson said: “I’ve got to explain that to you? We don’t go with the mainstream.’’ Johnson was hired by the Knicks two years ago and serves many roles as a basketball and business operations representative. It’s unclear what his role will be under new team president Phil Jackson. Forming a league requires a whole lot of resources. Do you think “Grandmama’s” idea is practical? Image via AP
Things are looking up for Lamar. Lamar Odom Officially Signs With The New York Knicks Maybe some of Lamar’s good fortune will carry over into his personal life with Khloe… According to US Weekly: Lamar Odom is in a New York state of mind. As rumored earlier this week, the athlete, 34, signed a deal with the New York Knicks to join the team for the remainder of the NBA season, Knicks president Phil Jackson announced on Wednesday, April 16. The remainder of the season amounts to just one game for the Knicks, a matchup with the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. Odom previously played for Jackson as a member of his Los Angeles Lakers championship teams in 2009 and 2010. Let’s hope Lamar can keep it together and stay on the right track. Congrats to him on officially getting back into the league.
