Suge Knight Drops $1 Million Lawsuit Against Kanye West

Suge Knight and Kanye West have finally reached a settlement in an ongoing lawsuit filed by the Death Row head. As previously reported, Knight filed a $1 million lawsuit against West after he was shot in the femur during a 2005 VMA Awards after party where Ye was hosting. Knight also says he lost a valuable earring at the club worth $135,000 and paid over $200,000 in medical expenses because Ye failed to have adequate security. Continue Reading

New Kids On The Block’s Jordan Knight Releases Dance Track ‘Let’s Go Higher’

‘With the New Kids, I loved the ballads. I was all about ballads. I’m not really into ballads anymore,’ Knight says. By Jocelyn Vena Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Jordan Knight’s new single “Let’s Go Higher” was released Tuesday (March 1), and it’s a chugging club tune about hitting the dance floor with that special someone. The New Kids on the Block singer hooked up with onetime Lady Gaga collaborator Colby O’Donis, who wrote the song with the Knight in mind and felt it was the perfect track to re-launch his solo career. “I had a track and I really liked this track. I needed a writer to see if they could put some good idea over it,” Knight said of another song he had been working on. “I was always talking about Colby O’Donis. He’s got a great vibe,” he recalled, adding that O’Donis had something else in mind for the pop star. “He sent [it] and it was produced by him in his studio, so the production wasn’t exactly where I wanted it. But I could recognize the song as being a really good song with a great hook and great message,” he said. Knight first hooked up with the songwriter a year ago before reworking the track with Marcus Siskind. “I’ve been kind of working on a solo record for a year and a half and it just didn’t feel like it was all put together,” Knight explained. “It all fell together now at a great time.” Knight is soaking up the fun, pop vibe that has taken over mainstream radio and will certainly find its way onto his next album. “Higher” is the lead single off Knight’s May solo album release, Unfinished, which drops the same month that New Kids on the Block is set to hit the road with the Backstreet Boys on their highly anticipated joint venture. “There’s a few ballads. It’s not ballad heavy. It does represent well the tone of the album,” he said. “The tone is definitely upbeat. I think a lot of people thought that I would do mid-tempos — Jordan’s the crooner romantic guy — but it’s not really that kind of music. I honestly prefer upbeat music. I prefer doing upbeat music. With the New Kids, I loved the ballads. I was all about ballads. I’m not really into ballads anymore,” he laughed. Related Artists Jordan Knight

Anne Hathaway Will Be ‘Wonderful’ In ‘Dark Knight Rises,’ Says Aaron Eckhart

At the Independent Spirit Awards, the ‘Dark Knight’ villain is gracious about being left out of third film. By Brian Warmoth, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Aaron Eckhart Photo: Jeff Vespa/ WireImage Director Christopher Nolan told Aaron Eckhart personally that the “Dark Knight Rises” script wouldn’t have a part for him. Eckhart took the news in stride, though, and the nominee for Best Male Lead at Saturday night’s Independent Spirit Awards said he expects the movie will do just fine without him — even if Nolan won’t tell him what will be going down onscreen. “I was just with Chris, and he’s pretty tight-lipped about things,” Eckhart told MTV News on the red carpet outside the Spirit Awards. The man who played Harvey Dent and ushered the character into madness as Two-Face in “The Dark Knight” wouldn’t admit to disappointment over not returning for the new Batman sequel. In fact, he claimed to have seen Two-Face’s omission coming. “I never intended to come back,” Eckhart said. “That’s Heath [Ledger]’s movie. It should live solo, and Chris is gonna go on.” Nolan’s third Batman movie will include , best known in the Batman universe for her villainess alter ego Catwoman. Eckhart expressed high hopes for her. “I think Anne Hathaway is going to be wonderful,” Eckhart stated. The closest he would come to complaining about his absence from “The Dark Knight Rises” was to joke about sucker-punching Nolan after hearing that Harvey Dent wouldn’t appear. Eckhart lost in the Male Lead category to “127 Hours” star James Franco at the Spirit Awards, though judging by the gracious response he gave about the Bat-films going on without him, he seemed like he must be at ease with passing the spotlight around. Eckhart made himself available last year, just in case Nolan had a change of heart, but now that the script is getting finished , and the big remaining casting searches seem to be limited to females , it’s probably safe to consider Eckhart politely and amicably finished as a Bat-villain. Foxy Frenchwoman Marion Cotillard Brings her Bam! Pow! to The Dark Knight Rises

Nifty news, Batman fans- Mr. Skin hall-of-famer Marion Cotillard has joined the cast of director Christopher Nolan ’s next bat-saga, The Dark Knight Rises . While Marion’s role hasn’t been officially announced, it’s tr

Rumored ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Star Marion Cotillard Praises Christopher Nolan

The French actress, who reportedly is set to accept a role in Nolan’s upcoming ‘Batman’ flick, calls the writer/director ‘a very, very smart guy.’ By Eric Ditzian Marion Cotillard Photo: Dominique Charriau/ Getty Images Another week, another report of an “Inception” star potentially joining Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” Tom Hardy has already signed on to the project, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is reportedly in talks and now it seems Marion Cotillard is in discussions to accept a role, as well. In addition to their shared screen credits, the three actors have at least one more thing in common: a whole lot of love for Nolan. Hardy has previously told us that working with the writer/director was akin to being “swept up on this carpet of love,” while Gordon-Levitt has called Nolan “a genuine artist” and “a master.” Cotillard, too, has spoken effusively about her experience with Nolan, so it’s no surprise that she might sign on for what is widely thought to be his third and final “Batman” film. “The guy is so interesting,” she told us back in June of 2009, shortly before production on “Inception” began. “He writes his own scripts. He seems to be, from what I saw and what I read, so rich inside. He’s got so many things to say and share and he’s a very, very smart guy. You really can feel it in his writing.” As he did on “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” Nolan is sharing screenwriting duties on the new film. He also earned an Oscar nod for his “Memento” script a decade ago and is nominated again this year for his writing on “Inception.” While Cotillard confessed to us that she didn’t exactly understand everything in “Inception” when she first read the script, the French-born actress put her faith in Nolan’s talents as a writer of uncommon depth. “Most of it really moved me and touched me, even though I didn’t get everything,” she told us last summer. “But I felt that it was something filled with so many things and that when you read a script like this, the first thing is it is Christopher Nolan’s movie. He’s a writer. I had a lot of questions, but I knew that I would have answers. “I think it’s the kind of movie that each person will have their own interpretation, and that’s a good thing because it creates conversations about it and you can share what you think,” she added. “It’s a beautiful way to gather people and share something.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .

Is Marion Cotillard Joining ‘The Dark Knight Rises’?

The French press reports that the Oscar-winning actress has accepted a role in director Christopher Nolan’s next “Batman” movie. By Eric Ditzian Marion Cotillard Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images Are Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” dreams still haunting him as he turns his focus to casting “The Dark Knight Rises” ? Following the signing of Tom Hardy to play the villain Bane in the next installment of the “Batman” franchise and news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in talks to join the production, new reports suggest a third star of Nolan’s dream-world thriller could well land in Gotham City, too. According to stories originating in the French press, Marion Cotillard is set to join “Dark Knight Rises.” People magazine, citing unnamed sources, contends that the Oscar-winning actress, who is pregnant and expecting a baby in the spring with French actor/director Guillaume Canet, signed on to the film on Saturday in Paris. A source close to Cotillard, meanwhile, told MTV News that “there’s nothing to the report.” MTV News’ request for comment to Warner Bros. was not returned as of press time. There has long been talk that “The Dark Knight Rises” would rope in two central female characters. Anne Hathaway has already hopped aboard the production to play Selina Kyle, the well-known character in comics lore who is the alter-ego of Catwoman. Previous reports about actresses in contention for the film did not mention Cotillard; the names included Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley . The rumored second female role has not yet been filled, unless the Cotillard reports prove true. According to People ‘s sources, the French-born actress will begin shooting in London in mid-June — after the birth of her child — before traveling to Pittsburgh and Los Angeles this summer for further filming. Widely expected to be Nolan’s third and final “Batman” flick, “The Dark Knight Rises” is expected to begin production in the spring with an eye on a July 20, 2012, release date. Anne Hathaway Cast As Catwoman In ‘Dark Knight Rises’

Warner Bros. also reveals that Tom Hardy will play Batman villain Bane. By Eric Ditzian Anne Hathaway Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images Last week, word out of Gotham City was that five actresses were competing for possibly two roles in “The Dark Knight Rises” : Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley. Now, one of those women officially has a job. Warner Bros. announced in a press release Wednesday (January 19) that Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle, a well-established character in DC Comics lore who is the alter-ego of Catwoman. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” director Christopher Nolan said in the press release. Hathaway’s turn on the character will come as only the latest take. Catwoman has previously appeared on both the big and small screens, most recently as played by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s “Batman Returns” and Halle Berry in 2004’s “Catwoman.” In addition to this major casting news, Warner Bros. finally announced the identity of the character that Tom Hardy, who signed on to the project back in October , will play: the mighty villain Bane, bringing the character back to the screen for the first time since 1997’s “Batman & Robin.” “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” said Nolan, who previously directed Hardy in “Inception.” Based on a script Nolan wrote with his brother, Jonathan, “The Dark Knight Rises” is set to hit theaters July 20, 2012.
